@Wasnotwas I just read in Real Simple that a pedi said moms of 6+ were the happiest because they just didn't have time to think about doing anything else.
I liked this quote too, paraphrased because under baby, sometimes the office is therapy from home and home is therapy from the office. I've felt this way a lot on my commute.
ETA the whole issue was about balance, I'm not doing great with it right now either and I just have the one.
@nachellebeck that's completely understandable. I know there are certain circumstances where it can't happen.
@34blondie I promise you aren't doing anything wrong. Babies are a trial and error guessing game, all day every day. That said, overstimulation and being overtired are two huge factors in babies not wanting to stay asleep. It could be other things, but what worked for us was semi CIO in small 5 minute increments, a bed time routine, and getting them to nap in their bed during the day. They will eventually realize that even if you're gone a while you haven't left. I promise it gets easier. First babies are guinea pigs for first time parents.
As for the great tv debate, I don't think screen time is an issue in babies. Dd has been a Disney jr fan since forever, and she still has every desire to play outside and be a kid. I don't think the right programs rot their brains, and you can agree or not, but I have seen my kid learn things from certain programs. She is 2 years 5 months and can count to 20, knows all her ABCs, her name, shapes and primary colors. I wish I could say I taught her all of it but she learned a lot just from listening to Mickey. A lot of shows are far more educational than they were when I was a kid.
@34blondie I buy the Target brand Archer Farms Dark Chocolate Truffle coffee and mix is with one of the 3 or 4 chocolate flavored creamers I have in my fridge at any given time. Kind of obsessed here...

I must try that!! Yum!
There's usually a Cartwheel coupon for the coffee too
Hi, guise! I missed you all today. I'm glad to get back into the routine, but I missed my little girl and my bumpies. I hope you all get some sleep tonight. Xoxo I-)
I'm just gunna leave this here: we found out today my brother, who is 16, has silica's disease (he had the biopsy done over the holidays). It just sucks. He is also type one diabetic. I just feel bad that he's so young and has to deal with these things, its not fair. (although I actually think changing his eating habits will help him be healthier with managing his diabetes)
Anyway, I told him I would go gluten free with him (except beer, lol)... this should be interesting!
Last night wasn't so bad! Down at 6:30, fed at 12 (H is on all pre-midnight wake ups), woke at 2:30 but settled back down, fed at 4. I actually got some good sleep!!
@kellenhi21 your brother is lucky to have you as a sister
FFS! I was up so much with LO last night. Up at 12 to feed. Between 2-3:30 i tried to put him back in his crib 11 times and he would be screaming within 30 seconds each time. Finally get him down and half an hour later he has a huge poop. Wide awake from changing so I feed him again to try to get him to sleep. Won't go down again until 5:25. At 6:00 he was up again. DH usually gets up at 6:30 so I ask him to go deal with LO so I can at least sleep for half an hour. He tried for 18 minutes. Spends the entire 18 min in the glider with LO crying - hello, try something else! Tells me it's not working and then resets his alarm to sleep for an extra hour while I get up with LO again. That means he'll go into work an hour late and have to stay an hour late which means I am on my own with LO until 7:00 tonight after sleeping for maybe 3 hours last night. Thanks, hubs. See if you get any any time soon.
Thanks ladies. You guys are all right... I know it will be fine and thank goodness there are so many options out there now for gluten free. I just wish I could take this one for him, health is such a precious thing and he's already dealing with one life long disease, wish he didn't have to deal with another... but I guess life isn't fair. Anyway I just feel bad for him, but I told him everything you all are saying; and I know in the long run he can still live a long happy life and that's what really matters!
@sctiger I'm sorry you can relate! but I'm glad to hear you've got the hang of it so quickly! And suggestions about recipes, where to shop/what to eat are welcome since it's all so new! (And I won't even lie, my brother and I are/were both huge wheat/carb/gluten "lovers" so this will be quite the change for us!!)
We only had one wake up, but it was a long one trying multiple times to get him down. I'm not complaining at all. Sorry you had such a rough night @cricket81...my LO had another tooth pop through and now he's back to sleeping better GL!
Last night was better for us too except I tried to go to bed at 8:30 to get more sleep and of course she decided to wake up 3 times between 8:30-10:30. Then she woke up at 12:30 screaming so I gave her a dose of Tylenol. She went back down around 1:30 and slept til 6:15! A got 4.5 hours of straight sleep! Them she went back down quickly and woke at 8 for the day. There is definitely a tooth popping through (for real this time) and I hope we only go up from here.
Current trend blowing up my FB newsfeed.. people throwing boiling water in the air to watch it turn to snow. Because that has no potential for ending badly
Re: The thread of all threads!
I'm really overwhelmed at work right now so I think my work/life balance is imbalanced and I'm not dealing with it well.

@zigspective is right.
I too, think chocolate wine is terrible.
4 days until my cruise!! ::heel click::
@tiffletons518 agreed. When I pour the water into my Keurig, I then pour baileys in my mug, and let the coffee pour into it. It's amazeballs.
also "dog lover", where do they find these people?
