@pinkpuffyheart2, not that you need to, but have you tried without the shield recently? Around three months E's mouth was finally large enough to easily latch on and I was able to ditch the shield. It's made NIP so much easier!
I always remember your success ditching the shield as inspiration that it can happen! (In a totally non creepy way of course) lol Yes. I have tried. She will nurse without the shield at times, but not always. If I initiate it, I would say there is a 30% chance she nurses without the shield. If she initiates it (either by just diving my boob cause I'm too slow or ripping the shield off herself) there is a 98% chance she will latch without the shield. It's becoming more common but I can't depend on it. I've learned she only receives comfort when the shield is there. So she will eat from my naked boob, but won't fall asleep nursing or comfort nurse on my naked boob. She will eat, unlatch, and cry until I put the shield on. Then pass out once it is on. She even rips it off after nursing and chews on it. (I realize this is a bad habit i need to break her of, and dangerous, but i closely supervise) and FTR she does not accept a paci as substitution. So we have a love-hate relationship with the shield. Love that it has given me the opportunity to breastfeed, since that is very important to me... Hate that i am second fiddle to a piece of silicone that I have to keep track of, clean, replace (dog has eaten 4 of them...) and always fear losing. I'm trying to just go with it right now but I know I have to break her attachment to it somehow in the near future...
And a pic for reading all the words. K with her best friend.
One day I will learn not to bring the baby into bed with me for the first nursing of the day. He threw up (again) all over my sheets. Fan-fucking-tastic. He's just getting over a cold too so I pray he's not coming down with a stomach bug too.
And I can't sleep... We are out of gas at my house so no heat until the gas man can come fill it, so I'm at my parents house. My sister is in town visiting and is across the hall with her baby, who is 20 days younger than mine. You all would love her (not)... She doesn't vaccinate, does elimination communication, and other things that I just can't get on board with.... Anyway, he was screaming bloody murder for about 10 minutes or forever (can't tell, it was one of the two) and it woke me up, now I'm thinking about stuff and can't sleep. Like, I'm thinking how if my sis would just let the baby lay in a wet diaper at night she wouldnt have a screaming baby in the MOTN bcuz he wants to nurse and she is instead holding him over the toilet. (I'm making this up kinda bc I don't know if that's what she was doing or why he was crying) ... Also thinking how last night h said I should go back to work so things can be more "even"....... And when I asked what he meant by that he refused to tell me, so I said to text it to me since I had to get the baby down to bed and he said he would but hasn't yet. I'm already developing my comebacks to what he will tell me isn't "even" when I do 98% of all baby, dog, and house care... And one of those responses is "oh HELL to the no.." And "you must be fucking kidding me" ... And I'm quietly LOLing at myself because I don't cuss at all and my iPhone changed "hell" to "he'll" and "fucking" to "ducking"........... Yeah I'm a real bad@$$......
My tinfoil hat is on over this Jenny McCarthy vax article. I think she released it so she can refute it and we can all discuss whether vaxes cause autism (they don't).
I saw The Secret Life if Walter Mitty yesterday. It was pretty good. Cute, funny, feel good movie. I was really pleasantly surprised.
@WasNotWas I liked American Hustle! What the heck? I did go in expecting a certain amount of ridiculousness though... I mean... Christian Bale's hair.... Bahahaaaa.
@funkyphoenix I thought the acting was amazing and the soundtrack made me realize I was born in the wrong decade, but the movie was meh. I will discuss in another thread if you want
last week my parents offered to watch LO so we could go and see a movie, we went, everything good was sold out. This past Friday I went with a friend, we went, everything good was sold out. I wanted to have a tantrum and say don't you know I have a baby at home and like never get out without it! I may have to go to the stars and strollers this week and pray my LO sleeps.
I want to go to the movies so bad, I haven't been since LO was born. Maybe that's because if we ever get an afternoon away we choose to have drinks somewhere
I just saw an add for a TLC show called 90 day fiancé, are there really that many people that meet someone online and then travel to meet each other and plan a wedding in 3 months?
Agreed. Hubs already did round 1 of shoveling. He said its super heavy this time.
Ugh. We have a snowblower, but it's not a great one. That's our plan though. Do it every couple hours. I feel like we are going to have a REAL Michigan winter this year, and I'm not excited about it. This was a Meijer near me last night. Ridiculous.

I'm convinced they just named the show that because "Mail Order Bride" wouldn't go over as well.
Any advice on formula..since I've started supplementing I've used Similiac for Suplementing baby's. I've noticed since I've not been able to pump as muh at work he's really ony getting 1-2 bottles from me during the work weeks. The weekends 2-3 if I can eat my supply up. Anyhow should I switch to a different one for idk less supplementing but still Suplementing. Ha! I know it's a little confusing! Sorry in advance.
I love how all these southerners are freaking out about the chance of 1 inch of snow and the temp dropping below 20 for one day. And by love I mean major side-eye.
I just laid DS down for a nap in his crib.. and not 5 minutes later my neighbor turned on her snowblower right next to his window and started doing that end of her driveway first. I do not love today.
Has anybody tried the happy squeeze pouches? We tried it for the first time this morning (I usually use plum organics). It was really runny! Like trying to feed him juice off a spoon. Just wondering if this was the specific kind or the brand? I've gotten pretty good at "cleanly" feeding him, but here's how this morning turned out...
He may be messy, but those are the cutest pictures!!!!
I hope nobody thinks I was side-eyeing them on this board. Where I am (north GA/TN line) it's going to be freezing for like 1 day and then be back in the mid 40s by Wednesday. There's a chance of one inch of snow accumulation. It's not a freakin blizzard. Just be safe if you have to drive anywhere or just stay home. No need to buy out the grocery stores. My FB friends are all "ZOMG snowmageddon is coming!! Stock your pantries, and don't leave your house!". It's 24 hours, people. You'll live.
