Ugh my grandmother was telling someone DS's name and had it all wrong; basically the equivalent of calling him Stanley instead of Stanford. She also calls Oprah, "Ofra" so yeah... I know I should be kinder to the old lady but I refuse to let her continue to screw up DS's name.

I hate that! My extended family has been calling Griffin, "Griffith." It makes me stabby.

Tyler is Taylor. It was even on a couple of his Christmas presents. To be fair, my aunts have very strong Spanish accents and have trouble saying Tyler. It still annoys me though.

I'll play. My own father calls Anslee "Annie". That's not her name and not a nickname we want to use. When he calls he just repeatidly says "Annie". No joke, that's his entire conversation with her. Calling her by the wrong name 25 times in a row is like nails in a chalkboard to me. Granted even if he was saying the correct name over & over it would still be annoying.

My confession... LO has had one ER trip and could have been 2 due to neglectful businesses not warning their customers about possible dangerous situations and as much as I think society now a days is way too quick to sue (sp?) for dumb things or things that are their fault I've seriously debated what it would be worth to go through with a lawsuit because my child was put at risk and could have been possibly seriously injured or impaired. Both times I cling to the fact that he's been ok but know in both circumstances my lack of action could possibly effect someone else just because without consequences people dont learn, even big businesses

It is honestly just SO annoying. I didn't mean any harm by it and its over and done. He had a toxic reaction to the cleaning chemicals at Starbucks either just the ones they use in general or improper use by an employee. And yesterday at red lobster they had just mopped and did not put up a slippery/wet sign and one of my inlays was holding LO and slipped with him. She tried to catch her balance which slowed her but she still fell into the wall and LO hit his head. He was startled but didn't cry and we decided to just keep an eye on him for 24 hours and let our ped know since ill be scheduling his shots soon. It's scarier when it's not you holding LO and you can't judge impact and have to trust the judgment of someone else. Regardless it could have been much much worse and it was the fault of both establishments

I can somewhat understand the slippery floor needing a sign, but I don't get the Starbucks one. What do you think they should have done differently? It's not good that your LO had a chemical reaction but unless one of their workers spilled their cleaning products on your baby I don't see their fault in the matter.

The chemicals I do believe it was a freak one time thing but most likely due to improper training of an employee or carelessness of an employee but I also know a number of employees of Starbucks who have received chemical burns or other topical adverse effects due to their cleaning supplies which they were never previously warned about or advised to handle differently

I worked at Starbucks and some of their chemicals are self mix and are really strong. I can totally believe someone may not have mixed a cleaner in the proper ratios or used a stronger chemical than necessary in the wrong location.

I know they are not practical and a pain, but I hate it when babies don't have shoes when they are out of the house. I have one pair of cloth sneakers and one pair of brown cloth shoes for him. Completes the outfit IMO.

But I know I'm weird because everyone on the planet seems to not put shoes on their baby.

Yes, I do HR. While CA is technically an at-will state, it functions as a just-cause state. What this means is that you can be fired at any time for any reason. However, many judges are now awarding employees huge sums in lawsuits or arbitration for being terminated "unjustly".

At least in CA, you really do need a documented reason for firing the employee. This is funny to me because here is what would actually happen if this happened at my workplace.

1. The BM Cookie Offender would be given a "verbal counseling session" with a manager and a witness to be informed that providing BM cookies to office staff is inappropriate. She would have to sign a document saying this is what she was told. She would be whether she agrees with the company's stance or not. (I.E. Does she herself find it inappropriate?).

2. If she brought BM cookies or foodstuffs to work again, she would be given a "Written Warning" with a manager and a witness present. This time, she is in serious trouble. It is no longer counseling.

3. If she brought BM foodstuffs again, she would be given a Final Written Warning. Rinse and Repeat.

4. If she did it again, she would be terminated.

This is why it is really hard to let people go. I would need all of those documents and statements from the managers and witnesses to prepare for the deposition if the employee decided to file a wrongful termination suit.

And, that is the crash course in CA HR where the #1 goal is always "avoid a lawsuit".

ETA: You can tell I'm an HR Pro because I changed my language to foodstuffs half way through. I thought if this was a real situation I would have to start the write-up process all over again if the employee brought in a BM Cake instead of cookies, hence the more inclusive term.

My paed told me that babies should not be wearing shoes on a daily basis because it restricts proper growth and development of their feet as well as causing ingrowns. LO has already had an ingrown. LO does not wear shoes.
I always have LO wrapped up warmly in tights, socks etc. I have no idea why I need to be judged for this!

I'm a bit icked out by the breastmilk cookies.

I'm trying to be open minded and rationalize "well, it's just milk" and "it was just a teaspoon" side of the story...but I'm still getting heebie jeebies thinking about it.

BUT if I did ever do that..there's no way on gods green earth I would come clean to the boss about it. You keep that a secret girl!! And don't do it again!

I mean it's not as bad as the poop pie in "The Help"

We try putting shoes on him, and they all get kicked off. Now we have the socks that look like shoes since we kept losing one shoe, lol

Sorry I overlooked your first comment. Yea he didnt physically come into contact with anything in the bathroom and nothing we had done, worn eating etc had been changed from the norm. Went through all the possibilities in the ER and follow up with ped and that was the consensus, a toxic reaction.

Like I said I'm not one to condone society and fast thoughtless acts of lawsuit but confession, motherhood has changed certain views an had anything progressed further and things turned out more seriously I would want someone held accountable for their actions or at the very least not giving me the proper warning to be able to take the proper precautions to avoid my child being seriously implicated.... I've always been one to not want to make waves.. But confession, circumstances like these are slowly pushing me out of my comfort zone of that in order to protect my child and hopefully others in the future

I don't understand what type of warning you want them to put up. Warning, we clean our bathrooms using cleaning products and even though you may not even come into contact with them, you may have a reaction? If that's the case, then where does it end? Warning: water coming out of the hot side of the sink may be hot? I'm sorry your child had a reaction to something, but there's only so much one can do.

ETA: I'm glad LO is ok. I would totally have complained to the manager about the wet floor though. That's ridiculous to me and completely avoidable.

I immediately thought of the help too! Although I'm not sure why I would be comparing poop and bm. I guess just sneaking any sort of bodily fluids into food freaks me out. (And no I don't find bm disgusting in general, I EBF). But unless my boss was Hilly I wouldn't put any bodily fluids in any food.

I didn't realize people actually purchased baby shoes for their non-walker. I always thought of them as a gift people without kids bought bc they had no idea how pointless they are.

My kids don't wear shoes until they can walk and even then, it's really best for them to be barefoot as much as possible. It's better for their feet.

My iPad should be here the day we return the kindle. Woot woot. Still haven't figured out a way to tell him that it's on it's way...

Pointless? Maybe. Necessary? Most definitely. We can have an "I judge you party" I'm totally fine with that because I beg to differ. My kid won't be barefoot. But, that's my kid, everyone can do what they want with their own.

Can you clarify as to why they are necessary right now?

Yes please do as your statement contradicts itself. If they are pointless how can they be nesessary? What purpose do they serve other than being accessories? Also my baby is not barefoot.

I can't "clarify" why they would be necessary for you. For me (my kid) I think baby shoes are amazing and a great accessory (hence my "necessary" statement). Does he "need" shoes? Nope. Call me "materialistic" I guess. I'm cool with that.

If you read my response to @roostermemphis you would see where I said they are a very necessary accessory. If you don't want your baby in shoes....whatever. Mine will always be in shoes.

Ok so necessary in a fashion sense. I just wanted to understand your meaning. We are a "barefoot" family. I grew up the same way

Oh ok. Good for you. You are totally entitled to do what you want with your baby. I would prefer my baby's feet to develop properly than have him decked out in the latest accessory. That's just me.
