Re: FFFC

  • My confession. I dreaded taking my kids to my grandparents for Christmas. They always get gifts I hate. This year, they each got a scooter and these stupid big rubber band looking chairs. My son is too light and can't even sit in it, he just slides off. They take up too much space and are ugly.

    I am ungrateful. Meh

  • The first year we were married our Christmas tree stayed up until June.

Ours stayed up till Valentine's Day and still looked alive. This year we took it down Christmas night, but only so we would have room for LOs jumper.

  • @Wjoyner08 are you serious? (my mom called me gullible yesterday so maybe um missing the joke). How does your LO play games on your iPad. DS's favorite game is to see how much of his fist he can fit in his mouth.
Fisher Price has free apps that basically encourage hand /eye coordination. She takes her hands and move them across the screen and the app reacts and sings and such. We have video of it! Lol, we also have video of her watching YouTube, she loves the talking porcupine.

I just downloaded a ton of those FP apps. LO loves the giggles. It makes his smile and laugh everytime.

As a FTM, I don't have experience in that arena, but I will say out of the IRL Moms I know their first child was always more difficult, spirited, and high-needs, than the second.

My theory is that the second child is born into an environment where the first child is already there. They are naturally more relaxed because they know another little human is around that also needs Mom and Dad's attention. And, like you stated, they know their needs will be met.

One of my Mom friends even confessed she worried about the intelligence of her son because he was so laid-back compared to her first!

It's just a theory, but those are my thoughts.

Baking the cookies, ESP at a high temp past boiling for a long period of time (i.e. 350 for 30 mins) would effectively kill any bacteria or viruses. It's essentially pasteurizing the milk. Although at that time and temp all proteins would be denatured and the milk is broken down so much.

I would maybe be wierded out by breastmilk cookies, but the risk of transmission of a disease at that point is very low.

And you are probably right but my the same rationale, is it okay for someone to sneeze/cough in your food because baking it will kill the germs? Diseases aside, she still fed someone something containing her bodily fluids and that is just wrong.

What do you think happens at restaurants???

    Haha J/K. I hope.

  • I have to force myself to put stuff on LOs feet when we go out. I'm the person in flip flops in the snow (what little snow we get in TX) more often the not I just tuck a blanket over her feet.

My LO is just like her daddy and is obsessed with any electronic device. She already has games she plays with on my iPad and will often be caught watching tv when it's on. So much for my no electronics idea.
I seriously judge this. Sorry but not sorry. Turning your LO to face the screen for 10-15 is one thing and it happens especially this time of the year. But handing them a screen to entertain themselves instead of learning to ply and use their minds is going to be a hard habit to break. I hear this and see a video game zombie kid/teen in your future.
We are sitting there with her pointing out shapes and such and at most we spend 5-10 minutes with it. I have a degree in development, I know how fine of a line it can be between a babysitter and learning tool. I do everything I can not to cross the line including making her mad by taking it away.  You can judge but she's never playing with it by herself, and she is learning so we will utilize it with moderation.
  • I'm too lazy to quote each person, so...

While I don't think it's right to put bm in food secretly, I wouldn't describe that as disgusting. So half the moms here feed their babies disgusting food? Poor choice of words.

If someone coughing or sneezing in your restaurant food is the worst that ever happens...consider yourself lucky.

4mo babies are way too young to be playing games on an iPad! IMO this is a perfect fuel for the "what's wrong with our youth today" argument. Give that baby some teether keys!

Baby shoes, meh. I don't buy them but I couldn't care less if your lo has 20 pairs.

Oh gosh, I'm terrified of this! I hope lo is ok!

I am not talking about women breast feeding their kids, I am talking about a woman feeding her breast milk to another person without their knowledge. Two totally different things.

    Fair enough.

DH at work. LO will be getting watched by. Neighbor regularity starting Monday. So I dropped him off for a few hrs today while I get some stuff done and so she can get used to him. This is what I do: And it's 130pm. And I'm getting my eyebrows done after this.
I could so use a day like that.

I honestly do not like baby shoes...don't get me wrong they are so darn cute...but absolutely pointless. I have a hard enough time getting socks on that wiggly little monkey , let alone putting shoes on as well. He has at least 13 pairs...he got 4 new pairs for christmas. ...dough!

I think this is more of a UO than a confession, but I'll play.

On the flip side, I cannot stand it when babies aren't wearing shoes out and about. I know they are not practical and a pain, but I hate it when babies don't have shoes when they are out of the house. I have one pair of cloth sneakers and one pair of brown cloth shoes for him. Completes the outfit IMO.

But I know I'm weird because everyone on the planet seems to not put shoes on their baby.

I use them to keep his socks on when it's cold and we're going out. Otherwise his socks are on the ground. And I refuse to be "that mom" who has her kids barefoot when it's cold out. I hate that!
Yes you have a point...I'm sure if I lived in a cold part of the world It would make more sense!!
Oh you live in Mexico, right? Ya if I was there id have baby chanclas. Or bare feet too!
I may not be in Mexico but Florida is close enough. N was rocking his baby chanclas on Sunday when it was 82 outside!

I'm a sucker for baby shoes. N has tons and he rocks them all.

I'm glad to see this. Just because it's warm doesn't mean baby doesn't need shoes!!!! I was thinking southern babies were all shoeless!!!

    ;)

So cute. So so so cute.

  • Sunday night we had to put one of our dogs down. The Sunday prior to that our other dog had a dozen seizures; we don't know why.

DD1 doesn't really understand what's been going on but is amazingly understanding. She's been willing to play independently more than usual when I need a few moments to compose myself.

Despite that... I could use a day without her. I just want a day to sit, relax, be sad and snuggle with my Tyson Man. (Our remaining dog.)

This. I see a lot of children who only know how to play if they have electronics. We decided no adult electronics until kindergarten. Leap frog stuff I'm okay with.

    My baby is ONE!!

  • I just remembered my other one.

I actually thought "What does the fox say?" was a nursery rhyme song, in the vein of "Itsy Bitsy Spider" and "You are my Sunshine"

Imagine my surprise when I Googled it out of curiosity...
I sing a bad ass remix of old McDonald has a farm and what does the fox say. My LO loves it.

    It's technically a mash up.

  • DH got me a kindle fire HDX for Xmas.

I hate it. The Fires are just too proprietary to amazon and the apps are a disappointment. And the skype app is atrocious on it. I love my basic kindle to read on, so it's not like I'm anti amazon.

I want a new iPad Air. My iPad 2 is fine, but I want the new one. I've said I wanted the new one for months.

He yelled at me for not giving the hdx a chance and being a apple snob so I agreed to give it one week to play with it and if I still don't like it, return it. It's sitting on the shelf. Untouched. I ordered my iPad air while I was playing with hdx last week.

My iPad air will be here next week. I even got it engraved so I can't return it. (I'm evil).

I know he thought I would enjoy it because I am a fan of my basic kindle and love amazon prime, so his heart was in the right place, but I'm a little pissed that he is wanting me to play with the HDX for a week before returning. I keep feeling like if it's supposed to be MY gift shouldn't I enjoy it?

One could argue since it's a GIFT I should accept it and be happy. But I don't see the point in keeping a nearly $500 item just to save his feelings. That's too expensive to keep something I hate and won't get used.

Anywho. There's my story. My iPad should be here the day we return the kindle. Woot woot.

Still haven't figured out a way to tell him that it's on it's way...

  • I just got back from shopping and read all of the posts!! Holy cow! I didn't mean any harm by it. She is the type to laugh at something like this.... I'm basically part of their family as I am the nanny/ assistant. I used a tsp of bm.
Petey made a good point about how im having to supplement... And a tsp isn't much, it was kind of a last minute thing! We didn't even realize we needed milk for the cookies. We actually made an assortment of cookies with only 5 of the bm containing ones for her. We are eating the rest. I don't have HIV. I guess I've read far worse confessions, I will take the flame this week!

Ugh my grandmother was telling someone DS's name and had it all wrong; basically the equivalent of calling him Stanley instead of Stanford. She also calls Oprah, "Ofra" so yeah... I know I should be kinder to the old lady but I refuse to let her continue to screw up DS's name.
I hate that! My extended family has been calling Griffin, "Griffith." It makes me stabby.
Tyler is Taylor. It was even on a couple of his Christmas presents. To be fair, my aunts have very strong Spanish accents and have trouble saying Tyler. It still annoys me though.

For a tsp you could have just left it out. If you don't tell your boss before she eats the cookies it is highly disrespectful and you should be fired.
Although you probably will get fired if you confess...

Can you get fired for putting breast milk in cookies? @LJUTCmommy you work in HR, right? Can you answer this for me? Now I'm curious...

I was thinking that even if that is not cited as the reason, it could lead to termination. I'm sure they could make up a reason to fire you, especially if they have a little proof (like excessive tardiness or something).
