I hate the phrase "push present". When did that become a thing?

I don't understand this either!  I thought the baby WAS the push present.  Someone actually asked me what I wanted DH to get me when the baby was born...I thought she was kidding.

  • Lactating boobs are the opposite of floppy, in my experience.  I'd say "engorged" or "full" or "big as a house" are much more accurate.

    Good morning, porn star boobies!

*raises hand* I definitely have some amazing porn star boobies right now, but they will return to my deflated pancakes after all is said and done, unfortunately. God I want a boob job so bad after I'm done having kids!!

I wish breast feeding worked with DS. I haven't decided if I'm going to nurse this time around or not. If I do nurse, nobody will be seeing my porn star boobs, because they will be covered in public or not. Only my kid and and my husband will enjoy my boobs :)

Let me clarify my first post to BF moms. I have No problem with breast feeding or breast feeding in front of others. My problem is with my DH's cousin. Her kids were running around playing with the other kids at the house and swooping in for a snack while all the adults were sitting in the living room talking and she was just hanging out with booth boobs out, ( not always with a kids eating, just in case they wanted to come back for more. THIS IS NOT OK! Also my husband reminded me that her oldest is 5 now. She also announced that they want to try for a third after the holidays. So that means she will have three hanging from her next year. My opinion is your child should eat and then you should cover yourself back up. Breast Feeding does not give you the right to leave your chest out for everyone to see while your kids are off playing and eating food off their own plates!

This is one of the most absurd things I've ever heard. I would literally pay money to see my family's reaction if anyone ever did this at one of our get togethers.

  • @Jilzy86 - Do her tits hang out while y'all eat, too?  If mine were not contained and supported in a bra, they would totally end up in my food.  Heck, I have that problem sometimes even with a bra and shirt on anyway but without an underwire to hold them up, they would completely end up sitting in my mashed potatoes and gravy.  Especially if I leaned over to pass food or something.

@IBackBevo I totally agree with you...need the underwire. Did you where underwire bras while nursing? If so, what brand? I did not use underwire and my boobs sagged and were not pretty.

I did this in the hospital but that's just because I was tired of the stupid snaps on the gown. And I was half out of it while feeding most of the time anyhow. But if someone I knew would be uncomfortable was coming in I laid the gown over the ladies.

DH's cousin (a year or so older than DH) walked in and I didn't cover up and he was like dude I can totally see your boobs and then nudged DH grinning (guess they looked decent?) and I reminded him it wasn't the first time seeing as his son had flashed my boob to 3 of the cousins a year prior. *backstory: the son kept putting his hand down my shirt like he did with his own mom and I kept pulling it out. He shoved his hand down and before I could grab his hand he pushed harder and locked his arm up which in turn pushed shirt and bra down for all to see.

    I mean, really.

Yes this is exactly how it is. What the hell do you say to that. Everyone comments as soon as she leaves but never says anything to her. If she was my cousin I would say something but she's my DH's side so I try to keep strong comments to the family that I see on the regular.

this just would not happen in my family. not the BF part, but the fact that nobody would say anything...no way. people wouldnt necessarily be mean or make demands bu there would be jokes. "did you bring enough for the whole family?" "pass the milk please, no the breast milk", maybe "if you're not going to wear a shirt, would you like a bib?"

Yeah, I know, we are supposed to love our bodies that produced, carried and nurtured our babies and so on and so forth...but my body looked scary after DS1 and probably will look worse this time around.  Am I promoting self-hatred of some sort?  IDK. Maybe.  But once upon a time I looked damn good naked and I don't anymore.  And I want to look good naked again.  Not for DH or society or anyone else, but for myself.

Amen! I'm all for "if there is something I can do to better myself, and I want to do it, I'm going to." There is nothing wrong with feeling good in your own skin, or self improvement. Folks only frown on it when you're paying for it. If I wanna pay for it, it's my money. If I could GIF I have an awesome GIF for this. ): boo.

    I thought of another.

My favorite place to shop for clothes is Costco.

My favorite place to shop for groceries is Walmart.  I don't really understand why people seem to hate that store so much.

It's more about the way they treat their employees than what they sell.

Maybe this is an UO but how they treat their employees is so not on my radar. I don't care to be totally honest. I can't stand shopping there because they always have like 2 lanes open that are about 50 people deep. And the quality of people there gives me the heeby jeebies. Granted not all of them, but yes. "The people of Walmart" ring a bell?

That's gross. Not with regard to Walmart, specifically, but in general to not care how a company treats their employees, no matter how poorly. Gross. As is the phrase "quality of people". Quality? Really? Like, they're lower quality than the rest of us? Also gross.

I am in a really bad work-related mood today, in case you can't tell.

I wasnt talking about the quality of their employees, i was talking about the people there. Hence the "people of Wal-Mart" comment.

Dont get me wrong, i love me some Wally World and good people watching. But the question was, what does it get a bad rap. I was giving my opinion.

And no, i don't think the reason most people dislike it is because of how they treat their employee nor do I care. Because, like Rocknroll said, they arent the only ones. Kmart, walmart its all the same.

Smh. Sometimes we go to Kroger, but there are some things you can't get at Kroger. Some small towns only have wal-mart and no other stores. A lot of people of all education levels and backgrounds shop at wal-mart. Not cool to paint everyone with a broad paint brush just because there are is some people of Walmart thing floating around the Internet.

I worked at Walmart all through college.  I got insurance, stock options and paid very well for basically counting money (I worked in the accounting office.)  I don't think they treat their employees unfairly.  It's retail...

  • My personal hatred of Wal-Mart stems from how they treat their suppliers in order to get prices so low. My husbands company was treated ridiculously, threatened, manipulated, and a$$ raped on pricing, packaging, etc. It was so insane that both their company and the competitor decided, f-you walmart and walked away, getting none of the business.

  • Our family has had a slightly different experience with Walmart, but not totally bad. My husband is a salaried manager and he gets a decent paycheck but is expected to live and breathe Walmart. He frequently works 60 hour weeks (5, 12 hour night shifts) and because he is salaried he's "always on the clock" and doesn't get any overtime. Also, his two days off are never together so when you are working nights you never really get a full day off to enjoy.

He has a couple college degrees but political science doesn't pay much, so walmart was the winner right out of school.

It's not uncommon for him to have to stay an hour or more late. This is extra frustrating because he frequently has to "coach" associates for staying even a few minutes late or taking too short of a lunch.

Overall, it's not an awful job, he has good benefits and makes enough for me to work a minimal amount and be home with our kids, but he works his ass off (in a tie no less - you should see how quick he can destroy his dress clothes), his schedule blows and when you divide out his salary by the actual number of hours he works it's pretty depressing.

I completely agree, hence my EXTREME disappointment when my aunt showed up at our house yesterday with a wrapped gift for DD (who is 5) which happened to be that damn elf. Tonight will officially be my first night of having to do this crap. My excitement obviously apparent. How do you explain to a five year old that she should probably just use it as a stuffed animal after she reads the damn book on the creepy thing moving and not touching it or whatever. I have no idea what the rules of this thing are and really don't care to learn, but I better start reading regardless. Wish me luck!

In theory he should be working 4 on 4 off, but in the past year he had maybe one or two long (a month or so) stretches where it actually happened. There's always something (the holidays, inventory, covering vacations) preventing it from happening.

He's in the process of opening a new store right now so hopefully once things settle down it will get a little better.
