    This might not be so crazy I guess, but it threw me for a loop.

    When I told my boss (who knew about our IVF) that we were expecting twins she sat me down in her office to discuss my maternity leave. I told her on a Friday, the impromptu meeting was on Monday and my head was still spinning with the knowledge that we were having two little ones.

    My boss then proceeded to ask how likely it was that I would have family help out watching the babies and that when I decided to stay home and raise the babies to give her a heads up. Due date isn't until June, but she requested I let her know in Feb if I was going to come back to work.

    No. Just. No.

    I guess having twins automatically means that you aren't coming back to work?

    So beyond tired of my MIL trying to say she is the reason we are having twins. Umm no you are not my body released two eggs and your son fertilized them so unless you're my mom then you didn't contribute whatsoever.

    Went to a family wedding tonight. The father of the bride is my uncle (ex-uncle, I guess, he and my aunt are divorced now) is a fertility specialist, and I haven't seen him in probably three years, since I was pregnant with my first. Just to give you a little backstory ;). Ex-uncle comes by and I congratulate him on his daughter's wedding and ask how he's doing. He looks at my stroller full of babies and says "Did you get your tubes tied yet?" I kind of laugh and say "No, the damn Catholic hospital wouldn't do it during the c-section." He then points to my husband and says "Well, guess it's his turn, then." Uhh, ok dude, I get it, you don't think we should have more kids. Way to be a rude weirdo about it, though.

    DW has had several comments along these lines

    Old college friend, upon hearing we're having twins and knowing we already have a 2-yr old: "So, you're staying home right?"

    Older guy in her office, "Are you sure you're not going to stay home with them?"

    So apparently twins = SAHM to many people.

    "Holy crap!  There must be something in the water!"

    My DH said that today when he found out 2 of his buddies just found out they are also having surprise twins this week.  We work for a company with approximately 400 employees.  There were 6 sets of twins at the company Christmas party, and 4 more sets are due in the new year.  That's 12 sets of twins that we know of, not including ours.

    When we tell people we're expecting twins, half the responses include "Are you sure there's not three in there? Maybe the other one is hiding". 

    Babies just don't pop up out of the blue people!

    Today I got stuck in a conversation with a woman who is grandmother to 5-month-old twins. First time I ever met her. She congratulated me and then went to town. She had literally ONE positive thing to say. It was "The kids are cute...but:"

    - "It is so much work!" (Duh)
    - "It's so much harder than one baby."
    - "I don't think the parents have slept in months."
    - "My son is really struggling."
    - "Get all the help you can, cuz you're gonna need it."
    - "One baby cries, the other is awake, there's never a break."
    - "Maybe it will be easier when they get to a certain age, but I don't see it yet."
    - "I don't know how they do it."

    On and on and on.

    I kept waiting for something like "but it's all worth it" or "they're such a blessing"...nothing.

    She also shared details of her battle with post partum depression and how she hopes I don't get it because she can't imagine it with twins to care for.

    Well wasn't she a little ray of sunshine? Sheesh! It certainly seems like everything she said had a lot more to do with her own issues than anything else. Sorry you had to deal w/ that Negative Nancy, though!

    I keep getting "boy and girl?" WTH people. which one of my boys, who are usually dressed in obvious boy clothes, do you think is a girl? really? Please tell me.

    My mom & I were at walmart tonight. She was pushing both babies in one cart & I had DS in another.A lady said, "you're a busy lady." Me: "Yep" lady: "oh, my sympathies" Umm... okay, thanks?

    Did you know beforehand?  I think this is a dumb question.  Does this insinuate that I knew I was pregnant but decided to never have an ultrasound and to be surprised with how many were in there on the day of delivery?  I hate this question.

    This question almost never surprises me anymore. I encounter a lot more women than I'd ever thought I would who refuse to have any ultrasounds at all, and after having been through the trouble of trying to find B's heart rate with every monitoring session, I'd imagine that an "in home" midwife could easily miss a second heartbeat on a doppler. I'm sure that going into labor "not knowing" is an extremely uncommon occurrence here in the US, but I can see how it could happen.

    I had some woman say "a boy and a girl?". When I told her they were identical boys she said "too bad". I wanted to smack her!!!

    Yes, because having a whole 13 months of a baby on their own is JUST like twins.

    Well, it finally happened to me. 15 weeks along and just had someone say to me, "Oh, twins? How nice! I have two girls and I think that's worse!" WHAT?!?! "How old are they?" I asked, just to be nice...."7 and 3". Seriously? Having two children four years apart is worse than having two babies to take care of at the same time? Get real, people!!! 8-}

    LMAO my girls are 5yrs apart... even with another SIX years between DD#2 and the boys, managing two LOs at once is nothing like having kids with any kind of spacing, at all. Hell, even our childcare provider decided it was too much for her, and her youngest daughter was born just six months after Alyce - whom she had been caring for since she was 3 weeks old... just that six month gap was enough for Alyce to already be sitting up and holding her own cups and eating solids by the time her newborn came along... having both the boys at once was too much for her to handle because they both needed equal portions of her attention and she couldn't get anything done.

    A coworker of my husband told him that he had a twin that died in the womb so it's not possible for him to have twins... What! That is such an incredibly stupid statement that I kinda want to hit him

    um... he (Caleb) has lots of hair and a shield face and he (John) is about 2 pounds heavier with a round face

    Hah, those babies look nothing alike. I've been asked that too about my twins who also look nothing alike. Oh, and are boy/girl haha

    @Rynleigh, haha that's so funny! From your picture, I don't think they look anything alike! Don't you just love that question? I get it all the time, but since my girls are ID it's understandable. I dress them completely different, so I'll say "Julie is in purple, Kaylin is in green", but later on they'll forget who's wearing what, so it's all for nothing. Ha!

    Those are so cute!!  I've seen onesies that say that, but the tshirt is adorable.  Although now my husband will be mad at you for showing me all those shirts! Hahaha

    One if my cousins ordered a shirt from there... if you're thinking if getting one, their maternity shirts seem to run small.
