  • Nobody pays to see the normal people. It's the crazy posts everyone is looking for. And with all the crazies there's not a lot of room for normal.

I could care less if lurkers LURK. Lurkers are invisible. I am aware that it's common practice. What I said was WHEN THEY COMMENT.

People post on boards they don't belong on all the time. There's no rule you have to "stay where you belong" on the bump.

And when I see a person who enjoys miscarriages of others and it's not commented on for pages, I will mention it on my home board. And we will comment on that absolute disgusting shit.
    Yup, I've done it.

I imagine a few of them used some mangos while trying to get pregnant. I doubt they're worried about delivery quite yet.

  • I think that everyone in the U.S. should have to take a gun safety class in middle school and that the government should quit trying to penalize and restrict law-abiding citizens right to bear arms. I also feel that there should be laws in place allowing sterilization for parents that have more than one documented instance of child abuse or neglect.

I took nothing out of context I am sorry if you can read, but several posters in the gun thread talked about carrying a loaded weapon in a diaper bag. You guys are doing a great job of digging your own holes I don't need to take stuff out of context for your crazy to show.

So, no guns in schools except the ones in the gun safety course? Sounds safe.

    My UOs:

    I hate pesto.

And French bread. Even though I'm a San Franciscian.

The song "Little Drummer Boy" makes me want to beat my head in with a drum. Ditto for "12 Days of Christmas."

I think Third Day has the best Christmas album ever, bar none.

I think Maklemore is a genius.

I think music should be taught in schools. It's the only thing proven to stimulate all forms of learning at the same time. And I believe our country's collective intelligence will continue to diminish the longer it's not widely taught.

I believe in being a good audience member at plays/concerts and getting up between songs, not during, turning off your cell phone, and leaving the kids at home.

I believe reading is sexy and good for you.

I find Romeo and Juliet to be utterly stupid.

I think artichokes are the weirdest plant in existence but also the most delicious, made all the sweeter by how rare it is to get them fresh.

I would pick a beach vacation over a mountain vacation every time, and I think whether you are a roller coaster person or not should be discussed as part of pre-martial counseling.

    Christy out. :P

  • @greywolf18: You really don't understand how probability works. Saying that another woman having a miscarriage decreases your chance of having one is like saying that you just flipped a coin and got tails, so now it's less likely to be tails next time. It's not like 25% of pregnancies each month end in a miscarriage and then no more. You have a 25% chance no matter how many have gone before you, just like that coin has a 50% chance of tails no matter what happened earlier. So you fail both in math and in being a decent human being. And yes, I had to delurk from March '14 to say this.

  • Hmm hiding behind Christ as a bigot does not make it any better. I am a Christian and am a gay marriage supporter. Please tell me which of the following 1. Leviticus 25:44 states that I may possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. 2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her? 4. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord - Lev.1:9. The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them? 5. I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself, or should I ask the police to do it? 6. A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination, Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this? Are there 'degrees' of abomination? 7. Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle-room here? 8. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev. 19:27. How should they die? 9. I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves? 10. My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev.19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? Lev.24:10-16. Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair, like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14) Disclaimer this is not mine, I copied it. That being said please tell me those of you who use the bible to stand behind your bigoted beliefs do you live by these verses too?
This is something that drives me crazy. A Christian who's mature in their faith should know that when Christ came, the old law was done away with and a new covenant was made through Him. Not saying the OT should be completely disregarded because there's a lot anyone can learn from history, but a new set of laws and commandments were put in place by Christ that are nothing like the OT laws.

Being a Christian is a huge part of my life, so of course following the Bible, striving to please God and attempting to be Christ-like is high priority for me. Most people know what the Bible says about homosexuality, so I'm in alignment with what it says. I wouldn't vote in favor of gay marriage, but I'm not a very political person to begin with. I'm not going to actively protest or vote against it. The way I see it, people are going to be gay whether or not they're married, so why would I try to stop that?

(I'm only quoting this because you said you're Christian. I wouldn't try to quote Scripture in a debate to a non-believer.) In Luke 10:25-28, Jesus tells an expert of the law that in order to inherit the kingdom of life, one must love God with all that he is in all aspects of life and to love his neighbor as himself. And in John 14:15, Jesus says if you love Him, keep His commands. So while I don't agree with homosexuality, harping on it isn't the way to go about influencing anyone. Jesus teaches love and peace, not judgment on condemnation.

I used to be a very active member of a church, so I know what you're talking about in the bolded above.  However, just to play devil's advocate, how about for some New Testament examples:

Matthew 5:32 - But I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except on the ground of sexual immorality, makes her commit adultery, and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.

1 Corinthians 11:5 - But every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head—it is the same as having her head shaved.

1 Corinthians 14:34-35 - Women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says. If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church.

There were just too many things the church teaches that I couldn't get on board with, so I couldn't in good conscience continue to go.  I offer the above as small examples, as it's been probably a decade since I've frequented a church and this is all I can come up with at the moment. (PS - I know the Matthew example isn't the best, because some Christians really won't re-marry if they wind up getting a divorce.  I think my other examples might be stronger.)

Of course I know that -- and thank God for it. I'm just hoping voters wise up a bit and choose a candidate who looks after the best interests of the country for a change.

Lots of Churches don't teach anything like that, I am sorry you had negative experiences w/ the "church."
I suppose I should be more clear.  It's past my bedtime and I realize now that I was not clear in my post.  My church didn't teach that women needed to keep quiet in church or cover their heads, those are examples of things that churches tend to "overlook".  My church did teach things like being against gay marriage, or against abortion, or whatever other hot topics usually cause debate.

My first problem with the whole thing is that many Christians pick and choose which things they will follow and which they won't.  Why is gay marriage not okay but we can throw some of the other stuff out the window?  My second problem with it is that I find myself not aligned with most Christians on the "hot topic" issues, regardless of what the Bible may say about them.
