It is my opinion that everyone should be required to clean public toilets for a week, just so they realize how much it sucks to clean up after messy people. I also think they should be required to work behind a counter so they know how much it sucks to serve asshats, customer service people are not your punching bags people.
Why is it that women always pee ALL OVER the toilet seats?!

I KNOW!!!!! Seriously?? If you squat and miss wipe it up, don't be dirty. Also when you are at a restaurant and the server comes to the table and asks you a question please respond and have the common decency to look them in the eye. Trust me when I say they are NOT beneath you.

This thread is giving me anxiety and I can't stop reading it.

  • I hate it when people bring babies on red-eye flights. I think it's totally selfish when there are other options available. Do they not realize that everybody intends to sleep on this flight and that your child may intend to scream the whole time? Not to mention that sometimes I have to go straight to work once I land.
Took a red eye from Hawaii to NYC once, with a SCREAMING BABY next to me the ENTIRE TIME. The mom did not get up once, and it was a 9 hour flight. I've never despised a baby ever, but that day I did.
How can you despise the baby when its the parent fault for not attending to their child?

I judge people that spend tons of money on make up. I know sometimes you need the "good" stuff because its better on your skin and I admit, I used to be that person but now that we are down to one income, I've realized that some of the drug store make up is the exact.same.thing.

Not to mention, Elf make up at Target is actually pretty decent and most of their stuff costs $1. I guess since I'm a bit more frugal nowadays, I just can't justify spending $100 on 3 things of make up that you're just going to wipe off later.

I LOVE elf makeup! There mineral mascara is amazing!!
Really? I'm glad you said that cus I need more mascara.

I don't like expensive makeup either.

I also think this is an assumption for many people. Often times people AREN'T able to get a job. That's why they need assistance from the government.

And, unless you work in a system where you are working with disadvantaged people day in and day out, you don't really see it.

You picked apart what I said... "When you are capable of getting of job" means when you are an able person who just doesn't WANT to get a job. Meaning, you are clearly taking advantage of the system.

The orginal post seemed a little threatening. Like she was going to Google the OPs name and find out who she was...which seems a little scary. I"m not trying to defend her OPs beliefs against gay marriage...actually, quiet the opposite.

But, there were suggestions in the post (beyond calling her names...whatever) that seemed threatening. Maybe I'm gauging this wrong?

I can very easily take that as a threat... Be careful hunny. You're getting a little too worked up.

    That

That's cute -- because I actually consider you not only uncivil, but a threat to the civil rights of my loved ones.

Well, nice to meet you Amy! You know I'm just 1 out of millions right? Threaten to google me all you want. You will easily be reported for saying such things. We can have a civil discussion.. Clearly. As I have not called anyone names or shown any sort of anger towards anyone. Uncivil is YOU pointing out to everyone that my full name is listed and that I am easily found through google. THAT is a threat. Me practicing my right to vote and my right to free speech and my right to my own opinions is NOT.

I am a Chrisitan but I refer to myself as a "loving Christian." I know too many Christian who judge and it totally turns people off and away from religion. I honestly don't care what the bible says about being gay. It says to love one another and to not judge a hell of a lot more than it talks about being gay. I think we are meant to love one another and not pass judgement. God will judge everyone some day. I don't really know what his true stance is on being gay because the bible was written by a ton of people, thousands of years ago, not by God. I think everyone should have the right to feel loved. I am a conservative but I don't think all conservatives are anti-gay marriage. For me, I could care less who wants to marry who, if anything, gay marriage being legalized will boost our economy!
    This is my stance too.

  • @RaganSchlappi No name calling here. Just want a decent answer. Who gave you the right to decide what other people can do in their life?

I have the right as a US citizen to agree or disagree with certain things. It was given to me when I born in this country. I don't have the right to call the shots but I am allowed to vote as a human being living in a free country. I vote "No." Sorry.
How is this not one big hypocritical statement? I have the right because I'm an American citizen. They don't have the right because they're LGBT

I do not HAVE to agree with you and that is ok. Point me out, threaten me, call me names (bigot and racist to be exact) all you want... But, girls, (GIRLS!) I'm a grown ass women with grown ass beliefs and I don't have to explain them to anyone. I spoke my UO like everyone else... Leave it at that.

And, hey, it wouldn't be a UO if everyone agreed with me, now would it?? UO = Unpopular Opinions in case you didn't catch onto that when you opened this thread.

Toodaloo!!! Off to hang with my fellow "bigotry/racist" husband and family.

"Don't like gay marriage? Don't get gay married."

So fucking true. I do not ABSOLUTELY do not understand why the opposition cares so much.
Bc we're allowed to care.. Once again - free country. Obviously a lot of people care bc only 13 states out of 50 have legalized it. Georgia not being one of them. If it passes then there is obviously nothing we or I can do about it but it doesn't mean I'm going to "agree" with it. They can legalize marijuana but it doesn't mean I'm ok with it. Very simple.
But statistically more than half of the country are pro-equality.

  • Many forget that there is a separation of church and state. So while those who follow (selected) parts of the bible disagree (which is fine - it's what they choose to believe), it still has no bearing on government. The groundwork was already laid when the legal definition of marriage was changed. Government has already agreed that the bible cannot define law.

I agree wholeheartedly with gay marriage, and I believe in equality. But I understand the opposition's standpoint. I just don't agree that one religion's user manual should define how every person is treated (each religion has their own beliefs - so it would also have to be an argument of which religion is the RIGHT religion. And that battle has been fought for thousands of years. It won't end today.)

Well said. I don't care if you believe that way because of your religion (well that's not entirely true, I do care a great deal especially if it affects my loved ones, but I understand that you have a right to your beliefs) but it doesn't belong in the voting booth. It doesn't belong in the government.

  • My UO: when at the first sign of morning sickness some women run off to get a prescription for zofran. I'm not talking about the women who have uncontrollable vomiting or nausea that's so bad it's debilitating.
I've had a few friends who had nausea that wasn't so bad and was fixable with crackers who begged for zofran.

It's been around since 1991- not sure how long of that it was prescribed to pregnant women but for me that's not enough time to be treated like Tylenol.

Thalabomide was considered safe until it wasn't. I don't put this in the same class as that drug because it was a shit-show to begin with. But it's an example of what I mean.

Once again if you're unable to function without it, I totally understand. But mild to moderate nausea- for me isn't worth taking anything.

This comes from someone who doesn't even take Tylenol when I have a headache- pregnant or not. So that may help see where I'm coming from!!

  • I just don't wear makeup. Like, I might swipe some mascara on for date night, but foundation? What is that? (I kid) I don't wear it enough to invest too much consideration on the price/ingredients. I had a friend that does MK convince me to do one of those facials and I just felt like someone smeared grease all over my face.

  • It's a democratic society, so people do vote with their beliefs. And that's fine - that's what makes it democratic. But those voting on legalizing gay marriage are usually the higher ups in government (as far as I can tell - I haven't looked that in depth into it), and they are supposed to follow a separation of church and state. It doesn't mean they actually do... When you think about it, we vote on our representatives based on their views. It's why there is rarely ever a unanimous vote on anything. Opposing views allow for learning, educating and meaningful discussions. Without opposing views, we'd be lemmings.

I would also like to know where people who say healthy is cheaper than not healthy shop. I spend $60 a week on produce alone. That would easily buy a lot of cheap ground meat product, hamburger helper, Mac and cheese, and romen.
$60 a week would feed us for a week, if not longer. I used to be a "healthy eater" but I quickly had to give that up once we went down to one income. Eating healthy is expensive.
We spend about 60-70$ a week on groceries and eat fairly healthy. I meal plan and cross reference my meal plan with what's on sale- if zucchini is on sale, we're eating zucchini at least a couple nights that week. We only buy meat (chicken, fish, pork etc- very rarely red meat) when it's on sale for at least half price and stock the freezer with it. We also only eat meat 4-5 times a week and get protein from cheaper sources, like chickpeas and lentils, the rest of the time. I buy dry staples like pasta, rice, couscous, flour, etc from a local bulk store for much cheaper than grocery store prices. I don't buy prepackaged baby/toddler foods for DS and make most of his snacks. It takes a lot of planning but it's doable. If I wasn't a SAHM and didn't have the time to devote to it though, we would either be spending a lot more money or eating a lot more convenience foods.

And I hate mayo and mustard.
