Re: UO Thursday

  • I have a new UO, well other than the fact that I'm a gay loving atheist who loves Christmas and doesn't care how long your kid uses a paci... I hate cheesecake. I really hate it. It makes me gag even when I'm not pregnant. I can't stand the smell of it or the look of it. Just eww.

    I loathe cheesecake!

I care because paci's after a certain age aren't healthy. When I see a child with sores around their mouth because they never take the thing out of their mouth? Yea, I'm ok judging the shit out of that.

I've never seen that but to me that falls into the neglect category.

My 2 year old gets it to sleep and occasionally if we go out we take it as a back up in case he melts down.

This is not at all off-putting to me. I am talking about kids I know who are never seen without the damn thing in their mouthes or attached to them -- every errand, every play date, every photo posted on FB or IG, etc.
I rarely take pics of him w/ a paci. He is far too cute to have part of his face covered :D

    This. Exactly.
Also, not a FTM sitting here making judgements.
Yeah I was hoping that comment wasn't aimed at the paci discussion...since we all seem to have kiddos already.

Xo, Judgy Second Time Mom ;)

    LMAO!!!! LOVE IT!!!!
    :))
  • I don't see why everyone's all up in arms about April '14 being a bunch of crazies just because of a little spirited debate! I'd rather have a lot of opinionated discussion than everyone politely agreeing with each other and patting themselves on the back. Bo-ring!

It's not the debate itself.  It's the topics up for debate.

There is a big difference b/t 'opinionated discussion' and: 1) eleven pages of UO, holy hell 2) posting, like, 6 UO's in a row to start the show, simma down and save some for the next 35 weeks  3) learning when to agree to disagree and not beating a dead horse.

My UO is that I don't think pregnant women need to be catered to just because they're pregnant. I think it's absurd to think your husband will do everything for you or that you park in the expectant mothers spot at a store if you're 8 weeks. (clearly this doesn't include women with restrictions or on bed rest, I'm talking healthy, uncomplicated pregnancy)
I once saw a nun emerge from her car in said spot.  That's right, a nun.
I parked in it one time when I was 8 1/2 months pregnant with DD and toting a 20 month old cranky DS. I had some serious SPD and had a very difficult time walking at that point (I couldn't even put my own underwear on. I literally had to put them on the floor, step into the holes, and let DH pull them up for me). I still felt guilty.

Funny, that's me right now. Why the hell would you feel guilty for this? Me thinks you're just trying to toot your own horn.

  • A lot of these posts are "confessions" not opinions. Save something for tomorrow, or next week. Or even next month!

because as a board we have people openly admit the following: they carry a loaded weapon in their diaper bag, sleep with loaded weapons next to their bed, hit their kids, don't like gay people because God said so, don't like foster kids, don't think poor people should buy skittles, don't believe women should have a right to their reproductive organs, or even worse should be spayed for exercising such right. The list goes on and on. This my friends is why this board is the laughing stock of the bump. It is very unusual to see so many uneducated bigots in one place that is not the Texas senate.

I'm pretty sure you're calling out the exceptions and not the rule. I mean, I think there are a lot of liberal, compassionate, intelligent women on this board! Also, a lot of dumbasses trying to stir shit up. But I wouldn't wish the dumbasses away just so we could all agree with each other all the time. I would rather ignore them.
  • Expectant mothers parking is the dumbest shit of all time.  Walk your pregnant ass to a normal spot like the rest of humanity.
When I was pregnant, the Expectant Moms parking at the local BRU was always full.  Every damn time, it was women who were, like, 30 seconds pregnant.

Hauling my pregnant with twins ass another 20 feet was not enjoyable and I felt rage towards those jerks.

I'm confident there's a lot more crazy around here that will last you months.

Yep this is just the tip of the iceberg I am sure.

Crap! Now I want this.  I haven't been able to eat in about 2 days and now all I want is this
Please just don't eat it with a spoon!
No never! Only with fries :)
Here in Utah we call mayo/ketchup mixed together "fry sauce".  It is at every restaurant and even sold in bottles at the grocery store.  I have heard it's not that way in other states.  Is it?
