  • Bigot = one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance <-- I don't hate the Gay community..

Racist = a person who believes that a particular race is superior to another. <-- this clearly makes no sense with the topic that we're on.

  • I would also like to know where people who say healthy is cheaper than not healthy shop. I spend $60 a week on produce alone. That would easily buy a lot of cheap ground meat product, hamburger helper, Mac and cheese, and romen.
do you have a sprouts or a local farmers market? i usually find that produce is a lot cheaper in these places. I can buy a weeks worth of produce for around 20-30 depending on how many extra fruits i get

I judge people that spend tons of money on make up. I know sometimes you need the "good" stuff because its better on your skin and I admit, I used to be that person but now that we are down to one income, I've realized that some of the drug store make up is the exact.same.thing.

Not to mention, Elf make up at Target is actually pretty decent and most of their stuff costs $1. I guess since I'm a bit more frugal nowadays, I just can't justify spending $100 on 3 things of make up that you're just going to wipe off later.

I LOVE elf makeup! There mineral mascara is amazing!!

  • I hate it when people bring babies on red-eye flights. I think it's totally selfish when there are other options available. Do they not realize that everybody intends to sleep on this flight and that your child may intend to scream the whole time? Not to mention that sometimes I have to go straight to work once I land.
Took a red eye from Hawaii to NYC once, with a SCREAMING BABY next to me the ENTIRE TIME. The mom did not get up once, and it was a 9 hour flight. I've never despised a baby ever, but that day I did.

  • My UOs:

I wholeheartedly believe in gay marriage. I'm bisexual, and have many lesbian friends who have waited decades to finally have the government recognize their commitment to each other. I also believe in polygamy, but can see how that could easily slide into a sticky mess. So I'm torn - while I don't see gay marriage as opening a "gateway" for other alternative marriages, I do see polygamists using gay marriage as an argument to say "hey, two women or two men can marry, so why can't two women and one man marry?" My opinions are total contradictions.

I have to admit (and please no hate... I had an m/c last year at 7w6d and I'm NERVOUS), each time I see a goodbye post, a tiny part of me is happy because it plants me more firmly on the 3/4 pregnancies that succeed side of the statistic. I feel awful for all those women's losses, don't get me wrong!

I believe in abortion (in most cases), but feel that if one person has two abortions they should be spayed. That alleviates the use of it as "birth control" yet keeps gaggles of kids being born to leech off the welfare system.

I think foster families should be registered like sex offenders on a website. If I'd known the house I was buying was located next to TWO of them, I'd likely not have bought it. The one family is nasty and I have to watch my DD constantly outside or tell her she can't go outside when those kids are loitering in the road. (With that said, the other family is WONDERFUL and I love their kids!).

Fire away! Lol the foster one was more of a vent than anything. The mother pisses me the eff off. But I only have experience with these two families, so my UO is not based on a proper sampling. It could be greatly skewed and I recognize that.

It is my opinion that everyone should be required to clean public toilets for a week, just so they realize how much it sucks to clean up after messy people. I also think they should be required to work behind a counter so they know how much it sucks to serve asshats, customer service people are not your punching bags people.
Why is it that women always pee ALL OVER the toilet seats?!

I am a grown up. I'm married. I'm an adult. I was raised a Christian. Racism has to do with race not sexual preferences, btw. And, I'm not a bigot bc I believe in what the Bible says.. and, yes, i was raised to believe in what the Bible says and still do bc of my adult-made choices. Call me names all you want. I fully expected child's play to come out of the woodworks here.
I hate this argument. Because the bible says? The bible also says we should stone people who work on Sundays. It says women who are on their period are unclean and aren't allowed to be spoken to. It says a whole bunch of stuff I'm certain you don't listen to. You are choosing this. There are plenty of christians that are pro-equality.
Plus you cannot use the bible argument on people who do not believe. You might as well use the Grimms fairytales in your argument for all that it is worth. Edit wording

It also means they won't listen to people of differing opinions or, usually, answer their questions with an answer not from the Bible. I'd really love to know why it is their business anyway?

My mom works for a non-profit health agency in NY and went to a conference a few months back. One of the discussions was about healthy eating, and access to healthy foods and all that. A study was done (I don't know it to cite the source, sorry) that basically said our country isn't capable of providing fresh produce to the entire population. When a bottle of soda is cheaper than a bottle of water, it's hard to get pissed off at those who are struggling and try and stretch their $$. We have to change our entire attitude towards food if we're ever going to make changes.
Have you ever seen food inc? I think it was food inc anyway but it is a documentary that discusses the food system in America and how fucked up it is. Again I'm not pissed at the low income workers I'm pissed at the corporations that are helping to keep the system this way.
A Place at the Table!!!! Food Inc is awesome, too, but much more about GMO and animal treatment and organic farming. Both excellent!

But other people do not get their rights. They are humans, also born in a free country. So, why do you get to vote "no" and they get no vote at all?

So fucking true. I do not ABSOLUTELY do not understand why the opposition cares so much.
Bc we're allowed to care.. Once again - free country. Obviously a lot of people care bc only 13 states out of 50 have legalized it. Georgia not being one of them. If it passes then there is obviously nothing we or I can do about it but it doesn't mean I'm going to "agree" with it. They can legalize marijuana but it doesn't mean I'm ok with it. Very simple.

I just don't understand because it does not affect you directly. Marijuana can affect you because of people are smoking it and it can get into their clothing or your lungs. Gay marriage is a whole different ball game.

This might be true... But, honestly, it's a choice regardless. You have the choice to vote no OR yes to gay marriage in the voting booth. Does it ask me "why do you vote no?" Or "where does your choice stem from?"

No, it doesn't. But, it DOES stem from my biblical beliefs. And, that's ok.

You don't have to agree to it. That's fine. I guess, what I'm curious about is this: there are a lot of things I don't agree with (like having 25 babies a la Dugger style for example) BUT it's persons right to chose if they want to do that with their lives or not. So, besides "the bible says it's wrong" reasoning (because we have freedom of religion in this country so not everyone has to believe in what the bible says)...why shouldn't two consenting adults be allowed to marry?

Edit: ignore the part I bolded...

  • But how do you choose which bible verses to follow? I am really curious.
  • Sorry, the Bible has no place in this argument. If you want to use scripture to rationalize your personal beliefs or the beliefs of your specific religious congregation, fine. But you can't use the Bible to withhold a right from an entire portion of Americans -- thank you 1st Amendment.

    Amen sister, pun intended.
