@mrskoehl agreed. Call if you are concerned. From someone who has had gestational hypertension twice, onset is usually later on in pregnancy. My first I didn’t have issues until about 34/35 weeks. My second I had onset at 30 weeks. But I would be questioning a throbbing headache as well. I hope it improves and everything is ok.
Just found out I had low fetal fraction on my NIPT. Anyone else in the same boat, or have past experience? I regret googling. Going to have it redrawn tomorrow.
Has anyone used terconazole cream 0.4 for a yeast infection while pregnant? I just really don’t want to take any meds while pregnant, the whole idea freaks me out. Reddit has a lot negative comments about using this cream while pregnant.
Anyone ever use it? I’m just looking for some reassurance before I use it. I’m 15 weeks.
@gp4 I have never had a yeast infection. So I have never had to use. I wouldn’t think twice about it if my provider gave it to me to use. From what I know about yeast infections, they aren’t very fun and comfortable to have.
@ccmrc143 I’m taking baby aspirin because I’m high risk and have recurrent pregnancy loss, but that’s it. I had my blood redrawn today, and the ladies at the lab mentioned that they’ve had a lot of results come back as low fetal fraction recently, so I’m glad to know it’s not just me.
Hello! First time poster here, so hopefully this is the right location. I’m AMA and we just finished NIPT and our NT. Everything was normal but our ob is also recommending we test for CF and SMA to see if my husband and I are carriers.
I know this is a personal decision but we are struggling with how to move forward. At what point is it “too much information?” Just curious as to what other AMA expecting moms have done or what your thought process has been. Thank you!
@christinemc1104 I'm an AMA mom, and I didn't do that screening. Neither my husband nor I have anything in our family medical histories that that screening would test for, so I didn't really see the point. Is your OB recommending it because of family medical history, or just because? Ultimately it's your call and it doesn't really hurt to test if you want to, but from where I sat it didn't really make much sense to screen for a genetic issue no one in either family has ever had, so we skipped that one.
Helpful thank you @ki1244. We don’t have a genetic history, so I’m assuming it’s mainly because of age (we weren’t able to get much more clarification beyond that).
We’re also leaning towards skipping for similar reasons you outlined but know it’s a personal choice for everyone.
I did the CF screening. I can’t remember what SMA stands for. I can likely did that too. Mainly just to be prepared not to terminate. I guess you and your husband should discuss what you would do with the extra information and determine if it’s really necessary to know.
Any doctors call to tell you results and nothing be wrong? I missed a call from my midwives regarding my genetics blood test with no other details and now I am freaking out I returned there call and it went to voicemail. And now I can’t focus for the last 30 mins of work
@estadt Yes, I have had providers call with the news. They don’t typically leave that as a message. In fact, this is the first pregnancy I didn’t get a phone call and it was because I got an email from the lab with my results before the provider was given my results.
@emeraldcity1214@ki1244 thanks in the past they have only called with concerns - no news is good news but this is a different midwives office from last time as my last one dissolved into two different offices. So that helps me relax a bit till I hear back from them hopefully today.
Has anyone been recommended by their dr to take low dose aspirin everyday to prevent preeclampsia? I’m healthy for the most part and also never even take anything for headaches etc. but my dr prescribed it to me. I just don’t know enough information on it.
@lmn823 I’m taking baby aspirin daily in addition to lovenox (an anticoagulant). I have a blood clotting disorder that was likely causing miscarriages so I’m on it for the duration of my pregnancy. It is perfectly safe to take during pregnancy.
I’m expecting my first, currently 17 weeks and 4 days. I could swear I felt baby move a few times over the weekend but I haven’t felt movement since Tuesday. Should I be concerned?
@lmn823 I’m in the same boat as @gingermama29 but I will also say that when you talk to OBs about baby aspirin they will say they “give it out like candy”. I have also had an OB tell me that he thinks in the future prenatal vitamins will include baby aspirin because it’s just that beneficial and low risk.
@g37 I have been experiencing the same thing. I truly think you’re too early to need to worry. Baby is still so small that you could just not be able to feel it consistently. That said I was worried myself and I laid down very quietly on my side to try and feel anything — I couldn’t, but then as I went about my evening I felt a couple flutters after all. I hope you feel some soon too but if you are worried I’m sure your practice will do a quick Doppler check!
@g37 I’m a STM and have been feeling flutters inconsistently since probably 12/13 weeks. At first it was one day and then I didn’t feel it again until like a week later. The last few days I’ve been feeling more frequently but still not daily. I’ve heard the heartbeat since then so I think it’s pretty normal since baby is still pretty small yet
@g37 No inconsistent movement is normal at this stage. You may not feel anything if you’re up moving around. Drink something cold or sugary and then go lay down and I bet you will feel something.
@lmn823 I was also recommended to take low dose aspirin since 12 weeks. FTM here but I have enough risk factors they recommended it to me. I asked about potential negative effects and there wasn’t much to be said about it so I decided it’s worth it.
@lmn823 my OB recommended it to me but I’ve also had gestational hypertension with my other two pregnancies. I have yet to start it as I don’t like taking meds. But I am thinking about it after seeing a trending elevated bp and I want to stay as healthy for as long as possible this time, if I can help it.
@g37 definitely too early to worry about anything with movement. I have felt movement for a few weeks but this is my third and it’s not been consistent at all. I feel baby daily this week at 15 weeks, but it’s not all the time just random times. I am noticing movement more at night or when I drink cold water, which is typical. As they get bigger you can tell when they are awake. It’s fun for a bit until they sucker punch you 😂
@lmn823 I’ve been on daily baby aspirin since pre-conception because of recurrent pregnancy loss, advanced maternal age, and autoimmune disease. It’s extremely beneficial if you are at risk for various birth complications, and it isn’t harmful. I understand hesitancy toward taking medication while pregnant, but there are lots of medications that are safe during pregnancy (I’m currently on three different medications to treat my rheumatoid arthritis while pregnant, and they are all safe and approved for use while pregnant/breastfeeding). Baby aspirin has a great track record for being both safe and effective as a preventative treatment in pregnancy. I added it in to my daily meds on my doctor’s orders, and baby and I are doing great so far.
Anyone in Canada have the panorama ntip done and have any recent experience with how long it takes. Got mine done today as my NT was positive and they gave a range from 5-20 days. And I forgot to get my pin to access the results on line
@estadt I am in BC Canada and it took 6 business days for my results to come out. The results weren’t posted on my LifeLabs account so I called my midwife who had received a copy of the results. She went through them with me and emailed the file to me after. Hope you get your results soon!
@estadt not in Canada but it took about 1.5 weeks or so for my Panorama results to come in. I also wasn’t given my PIN so I emailed Natera with my info as directed on their site and they gave me the case number so I could see the results online. I highly recommend doing that! I’ve known my results for over a week but my OB office still hasn’t bothered to call me with anything, so I’m very glad I don’t have to worry while waiting for them.
Are there any gym mommies out there? I try to stay active, I’m not as fit as I was a few years ago but I love to lift weights. I’ve heard from different mommies that you’re not supposed to lift more than 10lbs etc. I’ve always lifted and deadlifted 100lbs+ and have done spartan races and just want to hear from Other moms their opinion on this
@lmn823 recommendations to not lift xx weight or xx % are outdated. If you’ve been active and lifting, it’s perfectly fine (and encouraged) to continue with modifications as needed. My OB knows I do CrossFit (and did until the day I was induced with my first) and is very supportive. I work with a pelvic floor PT as well and just stay very cognizant of abdominal coning and pelvic floor health. My gym is ran by mainly PTs so that’s been very helpful. Brianna Battles is a great resource on Instagram too. I generally feel better being active and weight training than when I miss days. I notice I’m just more sore and feel general pregnancy aches and pains more when I’m not active.
@lmn823 in general you can continue with exercise you were doing pre-pregnancy, with modifications if needed. I’ve been told this time not to lift more than 25lbs just because of my age 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ Just know your limits. One of my daughters dance teachers did cross fit until delivery. I ran through most of my last pregnancy and did a couple races. I slowed down when I felt it was getting to be too much and did yoga after that. The only person who has told me to not workout is my mom! Lol.
@novelblessings I’ve had my mother, and best friend tell me NO lifting. I’m 38 this year but I’m active and lifting less than I usually do. My mom is just old school and my best friend had her only child 7 years ago. She’s also told me that I’m able to drink a glass of wine a day during pregnancy, but from what I know that has changed from 7 years ago. I don’t know I feel great, I love breaking a sweat and slowly toning.
@msjaay I checked out Brianna battles and seems informative so thanks for that! I definitely think that the stigma has changed for working out and lifting.
My doctor also said I should continue whatever exercise I was doing pre-pregnancy (which unfortunately was almost zero, whoops) but she encouraged staying active. She said towards the end try to limit lifting to 35 lbs or so.
Hi! I’m 16 weeks pregnant and have constant heart palpitations and a fluttering feeling on my chest. I’m also with a cough so I don’t know if it’s related. Anyone else been through this? Also I have daily headaches :(
@meluros call your OB. Mine says to check in if I have a headache that lasts more than a day (just to have it on their radar if nothing else), and the heart palpitations thing seems to be a pretty big concern too! Without knowing your medical history like they would, I don't know how much help a message board would be on that, but seems like something they'd be able to address with a lot more certainty than a bunch of random ladies on the internet -- and that seems like a bigger deal than "I'm always hungry" or "restless legs are driving me bonkers".
@lmn823 keep doing what you’re doing just listen to your body! I’m doing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu still and plan to for my entire pregnancy. I’m modifying things and not getting as much in because I’m so easily winded, but exercise is safe during pregnancy. Keep it up, mama!
Anyone plan on traveling right now in their second trimester or in the upcoming third trimester for a “baby moon” or just simple family vacay? If so where to? im dying to go somewhere tropical and hopefully will if I get good news at my anatomy scan that my placenta moved far away to no longer be high risk. 🙏🏻
