This shouldn't be a UO, but clearly it is among other Americans and members of this group: 

Just because we have the right and freedom to do many things, doesn't mean we don't have a responsibility to protect and care for other members of our community. Our rights end where others begins.

Wear a damn mask if nothing else to protect others. And if wearing a mask feels like it is infringing on your freedoms or you feel oppressed, then you likely haven't experienced real oppression in your life. 


I say this as someone who has to wear one 8 hours a day working in schools. I dont love it. I hate it. But I do it not only because it is required, but I respect the lives and health of others. I dont live in fear and I am doing many things I would normally do. I just do it in a safer way. 

Most people who complain a lot have the luxury to choose not to go places or dont have to wear it a lot. 

End rant.

@emeraldcity1214 admittedly I didn't realize it was an old thread since it just popped up again today. But its not really beating a dead horse. The point is still relevant and surprise...its a UO thread. So its literally the point to say what we think. 🤷🏽‍♀️

@bmo88 I’m very aware of how the UO thread works. I pretty much said it all on this thread. It’s just pointless to repeat what has already been repeated and then repeated again. That is exactly what beating a dead horse is.

@emeraldcity1214 actually its not. There are some varied level of opinions and many layers to talking about COVID. It probably feels like a beating a deadhorse to you because it feels like we are speaking directly to your post and your opinion. Your initial post kicked it off on this topic, but its still relevant to everyone's circumstance. You might just feel more sensitive to it because so many disagree with your perspective.

@bmo88 I’m not sensitive about it. If I was I wouldn’t have come out and said what I said. I agree there are layers but you haven’t posted anything that is any different from what has already been said on this thread. I guess if you want to go back and rewrite every comment so it’s in your own words be my guest. That’s basically what you’re doing.

@emeraldcity1214 I didn't read every individual comment, so I dont know every exact thing said. You made it a point to come back to the thread and post, so it clearly is something that that bothers you. But that's fine, you can post whatever.

Every topic on this board has high levels of redundancy, given the nature of the board. 

I posted my personal experience of how COVID has impacted me and my perspective of what is going on. Its inherently unique from that alone. But maybe you were looking for more people to agree with you and then it wouldn't be beating a dead horse for you. 

Regardless, we don't have to continue the convo.

@bmo88 I knew before posting where the majority of the board stood on this topic. If you go back up and read I stated as much. I’m just not one to hold back when I have a different opinion.

@acleverusername I don’t necessarily disagree with you, but paging the bump gods to close a thread when no rules are being broken should be a group/majority decision IMO.

Isn’t the designated process with this forum to start a new thread for each week instead of bumping up an existing thread? Perhaps partially for reasons like this?

@laura-kay there was a new thread posted as recently as Thursday, someone that I don’t think anyone knows (correct me if I’m wrong) decided to make this helpful comment which bumped the thread and then someone else didn’t realize it was old.

I will fully admit that this thread has been a source of many emotions for me, and I would be all too happy to see it shut down to further commenting.

@acleverusername while I can sympathize as to why/how this thread might be triggering in that sense, that's not a reason to page TB Gods. It's already hard enough to get their attention for the right reasons, trying to get a thread closed for petty reasons isn't really how we want things to work around here.
