This conversation about pockets and toddlers is very informative as someone whose DD is almost 2 and has mostly pocket-less leggings! Maybe she won't know what she's missing if I never introduce pants with pockets to her.
count me in the pockets issue... I usually send DS in jogger pants to daycare and he will always say "mom I don't have pocket, where do I put my money?" he doesn't even have money!!!!
When he discovered pockets he went like 3 days walking with his hands in the pockets, he looked cute hahaha
@stlbuckeye132 I laughed to hard at the dildo cam hahaha my boss gave me a weird look... because I am supposed to be doing a month end financial report instead...
I'm supposed to teach PB tonight, but they're calling for a bunch of snow today (so far it's been a whole lot of nothing). I really hope it starts snowing soon and my class gets canceled so I can just go home instead.
I just about had the biggest pregnancy FWP to ever exist. Someone I know posted about taking their kid to get ice cream... which made me want a chocolate dipped waffle cone from Cold Stone Creamery (half an hour away from work). So I went on a mission to find somewhere else that had them and settled on Bruster's, who doesn't have them but, I figured a regular waffle cone would have to do. Well, guys... get excited because they just started doing dipped waffle cones THIS MONTH! 5 days ago! My whole day has been made
Pic of it all in the spoiler, in case you need something to crave haha
Oh that waffle cone looks good @blaf322 . I'm currently working from home (which may have included an hour nap, oops) and need to go grab groceries because we have no food but I'm hungry and cold and the cat is on me but I also have to pee. A paradox of choice issue lol...
I appreciate all of the toddler pocket PSA's because DD is almost 2 and I want to avoid giving her something else to throw a fit over lol. Recently, it was about her coat. She loves putting on her coat, and I usually help her. The other day, she started flipping out when I was trying to put her coat on and kept yelling something that sounded like "flip on! flip on!" I was so confused, until I remembered she had seen her little daycare friend do that coat trick where you put the coat on the ground and flip it on upside down. After I granted her request, she was happy
@coffeeandcookies84 it is.... I got a small (which has 2 scoops) so I have one scoop of cookie dough and one of banana something.... basically banana pudding.
@meanjellybean I feel like there is always something with toddlers. Especially those who go to daycare and have teachers/friends who do things a certain way and you have no clue what you did wrong 😂
@coffeeandcookies84 it's the truth! It's pretty stressful when I know she's trying to tell me something and I can't understand it. The other day she was singing a song.. something about a little bumblebee or something? She was so pissed that I didn't know it lol I still keep forgetting to ask her teachers wtf she's talking about.
@blaf322 I’m drooling! That looks so good and now I wish it wasn’t a blizzard outside to I could go get some!
@mayisch the money comment is hilarious! Love what toddlers come up with!
I need to stay off google because for some reason I got down this rabbit hole of how the genetic testing can sometimes be off on gender and I just started thinking about how I’ve taken tags off of so many things and my mom just bought bedding for us which I also threw the packaging away for and we’ve been going through lists of names and what if in 6 weeks it’s not a girl after thinking girl for 10 weeks (I mean I know this has happened at birth) I don’t know. Anyway, I’m sure it’s pretty accurate but it definitely got me nervous! I guess there’s always a chance that will happen even with an ultrasound. Of course my husband just rolls his eyes and says it’s DNA... he’s always so level headed.
For those who are stm the anatomy scan is just a super long ultrasound but while doing it they measure a bunch of stuff. Is 45 minutes to an hour the usual length of time? Did the tech say anything to you about what he/she saw on the screen? Hard to believe mine is already Monday that felt soo far away a couple of months ago.
@bluguitarhannah my experience is that they usually say to allow that length of time, but unless they have a really hard time seeing something, it rarely comes close to that. And I think it depends on the tech (isn't one of the moms on this BMB a US tech?? or am I making that up?), but they usually say what they are doing and what you are looking at "here are the fingers, here's the spine" etc while they are taking measurements. They also are usually open to questions. I've never had anything abnormal show on a US so I may not be the best to ask, but they usually don't comment about how normal/abnormal things are.
@bluguitarhannah +1 for what @meanjellybean said. My office blocks out an hour for them, but I don't remember exactly how long it took before. Our tech also walks us through what she's looking at (and answers MH's 800 questions) but doesn't say anything about if it's normal or worrisome. Normally your doctor will talk to you about results after. Mine does it immediately following the US, but I've seen some people on here who have a separate day appt.
Having an HMO health plan is the worst, I'm literally having to change my primary care doctor (who I've never been to) to get an ultrasound at a place in the appropriate tier and may murder someone if I have to hear another minute of hold music...how have folks navigated this? Is this just a living in a large city issue? Short version of the story - my OBGYN wrote me a prescription for AS, I called who she told me to call, they told me I have to call my OBGYN because I was out of their capitation, OBGYN told me to call insurance, insurance told me to call a PCP and now I may have to switch PCPs because mine is in the wrong tier.
TLDR - Healthcare is the worst I would like some European style health care please.
@bluguitarhannah echoing what others said. Mine is scheduled for an hour as well and I don’t think it took as long with our first but with DD2 it took the whole time because they couldn’t see everything and couldn’t get her to move. I should have known then she would be the best sleeper lol (thank goodness because DD1 didn’t sleep through the night until 18 months!) I ate a strawberry shake right before because they suggested it to get her moving a bit more and she was just like yeah I’m good right here. I ended up having to go back for one measurement.
@bluguitarhannah@meanjellybean I’m the tech 👋🏻! 45 min to an hour is a pretty standard block of time for anatomy scan. I would say no less than 20-30 minutes though. I know some really experienced MFM techs who can get it done that fast, but 30-45 is probably more common on an “easy” patient. There’s a lot of factors that can play into the length of time like position of the baby, what extra images each facility/doctor requires, etc.
Also, everyone is right about what techs will do/say during the exam. Point out the bits of baby’s anatomy and explain what we can/answer what we can, but can’t comment on normal vs abnormal!
*TW* talks about abnormal findings at anatomy scans in relation to appointment time
Just chiming in as someone who had abnormal findings on an anatomy scan (and thank god, it saved DD’s life). I was blissfully unaware the entire scan. Looking back on it now, when she was spending so much time looking at the placenta and baby’s umbilical cord, she was double checking what she thought she saw. But she went through the whole thing explaining to us what we were looking at and why. At my practice the doctor sees you after, and that is when we found out about her umbilical cord issue and she went over everything with us and went back and showed us the pictures from the scan of what she was talking about. I love our us tech, and she did such a good job of just going with the flow that day. All in all, the scan took a solid 45 minutes and the appointment after probably over half an hour as she explained everything to us. This was at a high risk MFM clinic, so definitely used to seeing abnormal findings on us so probably more the norm than the exception for the us techs.
For both our girls the anatomy scan was about 45 minutes but with DD1 they couldn’t get all of the heart measurements, so we had to go back the next week. The us tech was really good about reassuring us that it was due to her position and wasn’t because she saw anything abnormal.
My office just goes over the results at your next appointment but both times the tech let us know from what they saw things looked ok
Back to the toddler drama thread ... My mom just retold two of my toddler stories (I'm 42) about how I would pull my socks off and throw them out of the car window on the way to school. She gave the teacher extra socks but I evidently did this a lot. I also refused (full fits) to wear pants until 3rd grade. Not sure, what my issue was with pants but it was a hard no.
@bluguitarhannah haha... you sounded like a "spirited" toddler I refused to wear jeans for the longest time because I thought they were for boys. So, I was there with you on the never pants train
My oldest son from the ages 2-5 were so rough! And my DD is a year and a half older than he is and the tattling was insane! So, we had to drive 10 miles to the sitter's house then another 10 miles to school/work. On the way to the sitter's house the kids were arguing/fighting and I finally yelled at them there was NO MORE TALKING until the baby was on the sitter's house. So ibdropeed the baby off, collected myself, and before backing out of the driveway I asked my daughter what she just HAD to tattle on. She said, "Well I was just gonna tell you that Logan has the cat in his backpack." 🙄🙄 He was 4.
Another time I was trying to order a pizza as we were driving down the road (10 years ago it wasn't seen as a big deal- totally different today!) and they were arguing, she was trying to tattle (she was 4, he was 3) and I told them NO TALKING UNTIL I GOT DONE ORDERING. I hung up then asked my daughter what she needed to tell me. "Well I was just gonna tell you Logan threw my shoe out the window." No idea when or where since we never found it. Kids, man.
Re: Weekly Randoms 2/3/20
I don't know if mornings could get much worse at this point haha
He is VERY into picking his shirt right now, so I'm sure pants are next.

@blaf322 that looks amazing. Enjoy!
