  • @lajoliedreamer I will say if it was us lighting then off I'd be more nervous, but MH's uncle is a licensed pyrotechnic so he knows what he's doing. Our field is also a swamp pretty much all summers and we can't even hay it until the end of August because the tractors would rut it all up.

@pirateduck amazon fsa is amazing because it does filter out exactly what you can get. When I went to try and sirens $500 in fsa funds at the end of our cycle I only picked up things with tags from Walgreens and most of the stuff didn't ring up fsa approved for my fsa card so I went to Amazon because of course I waited until the last possible day to spend the money.

  • @queenklau I am so angry they banned that commercial. Perhaps periods and postpartum truths would be looked at like normal instead of disgusting, if it was talked about frankly.

They didn't show any parts of her body that are covered by swim suits. And they didn't show the murder scene amount of blood I sometimes saw/caused.

  • @ruby696 somewhere in another thread was a conversation about posture, especially while sitting at a desk job or something.  I don't sit on a ball at work, but did get the company to buy me a new chair about a year (maybe two now) ago that is ergonomically correct and can be adjusted in many ways.  Wow, does it make a difference in the course of a day.  Also look at things like where your computer monitor, keyboard, mouse are positioned, like are you leaning forward (which I am now, shame on me) while you type, or are you sitting up straight with you back against the back of the chair? Are both feet flat on the floor?  Are your knees and elbows close to 90 degrees?  Would just adjusting the height of your chair make a different in your posture?  There's a lot to think about, but a simple web search of good posture while doing x,y,z activities will do you wonders if you can follow the guidelines!
  • @ruby696 I also self-sabotage.  :D Glad the yoga ball is doing the trick right now! Also, that's really neat your workplace does ergonomic evals, maybe I'm just unfamiliar with those type of work environments but that seems great!
  • @ruby696 I've been told I need to get a yoga ball to sit on at the office! I actually just put a table on top of my desk so I can stand up more frequently vs. sitting most of the day. I also have a tendancy to cross my legs (indian style) and slouch when I'm in my chair. Standing up is making a difference, but the yoga ball would be a great solution for these aches and pains.
  • I got a simple eval once but my small office had no solutions! Once you got my chair down low enough for feet flat on floor (there was only one in the entire office that went low enough) elbows at 90 wasn't an option, my elbows had to go out to the sides to get my hands on the desk. So when we put chair up high enough to get upper body correct, then I would need some sort of added on step/stool for feet, but it would need to be homemade/custom, because it needed to be pretty much right over the chair feet/wheels. And only one chair front to back let me use back rest without the front of the seat bottom pushing uncomfortably into the back of my calves. Either all our desks were high, most of our chairs were huge, or I'm just tiny, except I'm 5'4" and have a 29" inseam, so I don't think I'm terribly short/small on average.

  • @pourmeanothermocktail something I found at my old desk that helped was an adjustable keyboard tray.  If you can't get the chair perfect, sometimes you can get a tray that lowers down and can be adjusted to your chair level and get things to work the other way around!
  • @pourmeanothermocktail I'm 5'0" so I'm sure I was a project. 😂 One thing that was suggested to me was installing a lift to bring my desk down two inches since I insist on having my keyboard on top of my desk - I can't stand keyboard trays. I declined, that was way too much effort.
  • @queenklau Thank you for sharing, I had no idea this commercial existed and it was banned. Great commercial and the people who banned it can suck it (I'm obviously upset).

  • @pirateduck I saw one of those on amazon and thought it to be a good solution. I ordered one, but in the interim putting a smaller table on my desk is doing the trick haha
  • I went to 5 below this weekend and just fyi they have exercise balls. I was super happy to find them there that cheap

Well, I'm no longer working, so problem solved, but at the time there was no keyboard tray option, and I used my mouse so much I'm not sure it would have worked well anyway  I rigged up a cardboard box for under my seat, but it kinda sucked. then I switched out for a chair with no arm rests so I could sit faux cross legged. That is what many traditional Asian cultures do instead of chairs. It kept my back straight and hips comfy, but it wasn't stacking my ankles so it worked for me.

  • Ugh BIL is here for MH's birthday. I was excited to see him, but now my anxiety is going off because he wants to know my due date (which only MH and I know) because he wants to fly MIL out for the birth. I've already fought with MH on this that I don't want her staying with us and I don't want anyone "waiting around" for me to give birth. If I say anything about it to MH it's going to start another fight and I just don't want to. I also don't want her there period and I feel BIL will drop her off at our place again and mh will be responsible for driving her 4 hours to the airport again. I just can't right now 😬
  • @jhysmath how'd you respond? That really is stressful. Can you be candid with your BIL about not wanting MIL there until (long)after the birth? Or tell him the dates can change so much that you don't want MIL to come early and waste time if the baby is late.

    Good luck!

  • @tj_2 I told him we don't give out due dates because they're just estimates, and he said well I need an estimate to know when to book the flight. I think I'll text him later this week to explain it, he is rather level headed and I think that will go better.
  • @jhysmath I don't know if he'll accept the answer, but I'd probably say the baby is due sometime in May and we will be having visitors anytime after x date, so you should book your flight for then.
  • @jhysmath I like @pirateduck's approach of providing a date after which you'd be comfortable with visitors. You can always pretend you went into labor earlier if there's issues about you keeping the grandchild away for X weeks. 🙄

  • @jhysmath what @pirateduck said. If she is too stressful for you then I think your H needs to respect that, like really respect it. DF and I already decided that his mom is not coming, even on her best day she pisses me off so I am not doing it, I gave in with DS1 and let her stay in the room but this go around I don't even want her at the hospital which he agrees with because he knows how she is (she drives him nuts too).
  • Also hi everyone! I hope you are all having great weeks, it is a crazy one at work so far so I am reading but haven't really had time to  catch up!
  • @mamaj1220 MH is the epitome of a mama's boy even at 45 so it's awful. I'm sure if he could have it his way she'd be standing in my vagina when I gave birth. Half the time I swear he wanted to have children to give them to his mother its awful. He grew up with a his single mom living with his grandparents and he feels grandparents should be almost equal raising a child. We saw grandparents maybe once a month (my moms parents) and a couple times a year (my fathers parents lived in Florida) so it's two completely different outlooks on how grandparents should be involved.
  • @jhysmath ahh yeah, DF and I agree on how my mom and step dad (who I call my dad) and his dad and step mom should be involved (DS pretty much spends the night with one or the other every other weekend and in the summer spends almost a week with each and my family still does family dinners at least once a week). We aren't as easy going about my biodad (he has a history) and his mom just because she makes us both crazy.
  • also though thank you for reminding me that yes it is sweet to have a mama's boy but that they need to learn to be independent of me as well, as much as I love my DS I want him to have a life that doesn't revolve around me someday!
  • @jhysmath I LOLed about the standing in your vagina part. Ugh Mama's boys situations can be rough. I'm sorry you're dealing with that. I think it makes sense to stretch the dates and maybe set a firm no visitors until after X date rule (if they'll listen).
