She does.... I haven't raised the possibility of wearing a different dress because I think the one she's picked *probably* will work, it's just going to need some alterations unless I get really lucky guessing. The dress is *almost* empire waist. It's not quiiiite there, but almost. Very high waist. Unfortunately the maternity dresses by the same designer in the same color and material are kind of unappealing looking. They're a pretty different style and they look kind of frumpy compared to the cute dresses she's picked out
I think the toughest part is just that I have no idea how big I'm going to get, and right now I'm bloated and my boobs are bigger, but I'm not really showing. It's hard to imagine what my body is even going to look and feel like proportionally because I haven't been through this before.

@babylawyer I've had this problem several times... You'll want to order way big and bite the price tag on the steep alterations. I made the mistake of not going big enough once and it was VERY difficult/stressful, ended up having to buy & sew a piece of material myself bc seamstresses wouldn't touch it bc & we couldn't zip it over my rib cage/boobs. & I was miserably uncomfortable the entire longggg day/night. Talk to whoever will be altering the dress &/or the business you're ordering it through for their specific sizing advice on that particular designer/style. If it's a shorter dress you'll also need extra length so it's not way shorter in the front. General rule: at least 2 sizes up. At least. Good luck!!
Maybe kind of a silly question, but have any of you been able to video your ultrasounds to share with your SO/family? I'm sure that differs from doctor to doctor if it's even allowed. I want H to be able to see one before the Anatomy scan but I also feel bad asking him come with me for the NT scan because it's going to be a long appointment.
@babyroma my doctor allows you to film ultrasounds/heartbeats on your phone or camera, you just have to ask first. I should think yours will let you too, just ask them next time you go 😊
This actually came up with a conversation with a friend but now I can't stop thinking about this. So my doctor said we will only get one ultrasound and that's at the anatomy scan. Does anyone know if it's routine to do the doppler every appointment? And if not - is it something they'll do if you request it?
It depends on the doc, I think. The OB I had with my first two pregnancies did a lot of ultrasounds. If the machine was available/around, she would do that vs Doppler. For my third and this pregnancy, it’s a different doc and they are doing the Doppler at each visit; only doing an ultrasound unless there is a problem or cause for concern.
@babyroma my midwife let me film at my 12-week check-up (she just brought the machine in the room). I had never thought to ask before! DH couldn’t make it due to work, and I wanted him to be able to see the wiggles, not just pictures.
My last pregnancy, I only had the 20 week scan but doppler every visit. This pregnancy, I had an ultrasound at my first visit and am assuming it is because I didnt see my actual OB the first appt. But am anticipating getting the doppler each visit also. I will be getting a doppler after this appt since I will be doing virtual appts every other time. Anxious to play around with that and hopefully get the hang of getting the heartbeat down.
@brookert615 we get the initial ultrasound, the NT scan if you opt to do it, anatomy scan, and sometimes they’ll do a surprise ultrasound at the end if they can’t tell baby’s position otherwise (happened to me). But the Doppler is every appointment after 12 weeks.

@daffodil_shoe Turns out I was mistaken with my DH! I thought he picked up a shift that day because another operator wanted off, but he said he would come with me, as long as I wake him up early enough he can have some coffee before we leave! I warned him it might be a long appointment, but his response was "I'll always support you and baby!" I'm so lucky to have him! haha Still might be fun to have a recording of it to show the grandparents!
So we have our NT scan tomorrow. It is more convenient for us logistically to bring our 2.5 year old with us. She is generally a very good girl. Anyone think this is a good idea or a recipe for disaster? How long have these scans lasted? I did not have an NT scan with my daughter - hopefully it is not as long as the anatomy scan.

@brookert615 cool, thanks girl. She would be fine for 10 mins, but not 30+!! I feel like it is pointless since I've already had my NIPT done but happy to see her again. I had terrible dreams last night that I won't even relive by talking about them so happy to have some more confidence she is OK.

@leksiL I don’t remember exactly how long it was last time but it probably depends on how easy it is to get the measurements they need. I hope it’ll be fast for you. Will she sit in a stroller and play with toys or look at some books? Also, snacks always work for us.

@leksiL it’s about 20-30 min if I remember. With my second baby, I took my 2.5 year old, but had my mom there to help. He was fine. If you can give her snacks and an iPad for a short time, I think you’ll be fine.
@leksiL, my NT scan is scheduled for 30 mins compared to my anatomy scan which is scheduled for 60 mins. Will your H be there to help wrangle her while you are on the table? I had to bring my 2 year old alone to my OB intake appt which was over an hour. I brought lots to entertain her and we talked ahead of time about how she may have to sit in a chair while mommy was up on the table. She did very well.
All great ideas - I will bring a few books and some snacks - my husband will be there so should be fine. @ibabyloveb87 do you still use stroller a lot? Ours is collecting dust in the garage (although I'm sure when we use it for DD2, DD1 will want to go in it again LOL)

I can’t even tell you how many pelvic checks I had with my last pregnancy and my almost 2 year old sitting on me. I didn’t have childcare so he came with me! Both kids will be at most of my appointments. I figure the OB is in the baby making business so they better realize they come with us to the appointments lol!
@leksiL when out and about, yes. My kid is a runner and doesn’t always listen well. I have a GB Pockit stroller which is super small and compact so it’s easy to use.

Any prior c-section mamas having some discomfort around their incision site? My first daughter was born vaginally (and on her due date - Easiest Birth Ever), but my second (who is now 18 months) wound up being a c-section. I’m really only 10ish weeks with baby #3 (wound up in this birth club bc I had my dates wrong and will actually still deliver in February), but I’m definitely feeling some stretching around my scar. Wondering what to expect when I really start to stretch!
@AugustGlass +1 RLP club. Mine started around 9 weeks and I’ve been getting “ow WTH?!” ones when I stand up too fast this week. I feel like it’s way early, but that seems to be the theme this time!
@AugustGlass I started having RLP super early, like around 6 weeks. I had it with my first pregnancy too which only lasted to 7 weeks. If you have allergies and feel a sneeze coming on, put your knees together because I swear that has saved me from a lot of the stabbing pain I get when I'm caught off guard.
Speaking of early. My family is making holiday plans already. For those doing a shower are you planning before or after the holidays? Obviously around would be nice because all of the families traveling will be there but that time is already so busy? (FTM. Telling family this week)
@22ksi2 A friend had her baby last Februrary and they had their shower early January. Part of me likes after the holidays since there may be friends or family traveling to other locations but it also is a time where everyone is kind of partied out, haha. We still had a great time though I'm on the fence for ours.
@22ksi2 My mom is planning my baby shower for Nov. 2nd. We live in Chicago and the weather really takes a turn for the worse after the new year. We will have to drive to Ohio for the shower and have a few OOT family members who want to come in for it as well, so my mom figured earlier was fine so that weather wasn't as big of an issue. She's going all out on this because I didn't let her throw me a bridal shower! Like the day we told them we were expecting the wheels were already churning!
