  • So freaking crazy that we’re so far down the list!! Did everyone have a nice weekend?!?

It’s supposed to rain here this week (after a few weeks of no rain!), which always makes for an interesting commute. We can’t do weather!
  • Wow can't believe 2020 babies already...I love watching our group move further down but also reminds me I need to get my butt in gear and start getting stuff together for this kid.
  • It's great to see the January board pop up!

We had pretty nice weather this weekend, but it's back to rain today and a few other days this week. I wore sandals to work anyway because fuck it.
  • YAAAAYYYYY for the January board being up! I love when we move closer!!! I just want this baby on the outside to snuggle now! Lol even though I’m not necessarily prepared in any other way... 😂

  • @supermom34482, @sunshine2417 lol yeah, we’re kinda sorta woefully underprepared here, too. I mean, TBH it’s not gonna take much to get us in order and in a pinch we’d be fine. I re-did my Amazon registry this weekend and showed DH it and he doesn’t understand why we need more hooded towels and swaddles. I mean, it’s not like DS is SO ATTACHED TO HIS SWADDLE BLANKETS AND FLIPS OUT WHEN YOU TAKE THEM FROM HIM. I can just see him freaking the f*ck out when/if new baby is swaddled in them.
  • @lillywonderland yup!! Part of me is like okay, the basics are that we would need to put the infant car seat back in the car, set up their sleeping arrangements in our room, and purchase a ton of diapers! And the other side of me is like BUT NOW ITS A GIIIIIRL! We only have BOY things!!! We don’t have ANYTHING!! (So stupid and irrational...)

  • First outdoor Farmer's Market, a farm day out at our CSA farm, planted a ton of plant starts and seeds. It was a good weekend! Supposed to rain here too this week though. We need a few things too since last time it was a boy baby born in May. I realized most of our onesies are short sleeved.

We had a beautiful weekend here too. Unfortunately DH had to work. We did get to spend a little time at a wedding before he had to go get ready for work (midnights). We didn’t know anyone besides the groom so we spent the whole time talking to each other. Which was amazing, we laughed so much. It felt like a good bonding moment between us.
I bought myself some summer maternity tops yesterday. They seem to fit me fine right now, I can’t imagine them stretching over a big bump... will they or should I have gotten bigger ones?
I was just wondering this morning when the January board would open up. Anyone else starting to feel a little bit panicked? When should I be signing up for birthing classes?

  • Oh lord I really need to get started on a registry, but the thought of researching the important things like strollers and car seats is making my head spin right now.

But look at this tiny blazer with the teeny pocket square I found on the clearance rack at Nordstrom Rack yesterday:

  • @LJMoon6 You got time!! I would say sign up to do them in between 32 and 36 weeks (same for the hospital tour) that way it’s more “fresh” in your brain. Also, the mat shirts are super long and will cover you pretty much until the end (the last week or two might be a little dicey, but you don’t GAF at that point).

@cammie0526 OMG THE POCKET SQUARE!! 😍

@janat1717 Can you just get like little sweatshirt zip ups? We have the same “issue” as you and I’m gonna be on the hunt for little ls zip tops (pink or blue 😜) to layer.
  •  It is getting so real! Im finally half way tomorrow, and we find out Thursday what we are having, but I honestly just don't feel the way I did with DS. He just turned 3 and is so overwhelming now, I can't imagine bringing another baby into the mix. The dread of juggling 2 has left me feeling like Im not as bonded as I should be and I'm afraid that will flow over to when he/she is actually here. I need to kick my butt in gear.
  • Bad news: I'm at home sick today with the GI issue DS had last week.

Good news: I got to finish last night's episode of GoT this morning!
  • @janat1717 that sounds like such a lovely weekend! Our favorite neighborhood beer garden was open, but we didn't go because I was pouting about not being able to drink. I'll have to make my way to a farmers market next weekend.

So I knew that my university had lactation rooms for pumping but I had no idea that they provided pumps too! All you have to bring are the pump parts. There’s one of these rooms in the building right next to mine. I’m pretty excited and need to look into it more! It would be pretty awesome not having to carry a pump to and from work.

  • @blitzybee @sunshine2417 @cateyes543 thank you all so much for the kind words!  <3

Yay for the January board being up! It always makes things feel so much for real each time one pops up because it just means we are that much closer to baby time!

  • @nomangos23 congrats to your friend! I don’t think staying active helps you go into labor, but it definitely can make labor and delivery easier they say!

  • @nomangos23 I was induced 10 days late with my first. I was 0cm and not effaced and literally never had one single contraction. No signs of labor. Nothing. They admitted me for the induction (to sleep over w Cervadil placed and planned to start pitocin early morning). The doctors told me to plan for a long induction. They placed the cervadil, it fell out an hour later and they told me they wouldn’t replace it. I was devastated that it was going to be SO.SLOW. My water broke that night, on its own, at midnight and she was born at 10am. Don’t fret, things will happen! Your body can be ready even without any impeding labor signs.
  • @nomangos23 Yay for your BFF!! Glad to hear baby and Mom are doing well!!

FWIW, I started eating a crapton of pineapple at like 38wks because I read somewhere that helped. I also did spicy foods and a lot of walks. At like 39+5 they did a membrane sweep, too. I also did a 4 mile hike on my due date (and coincidently the day I went into labor with DS). I don’t think anything is the magic thing that kickstarts labor. But hopefully you’ll go into labor naturally after 38wks (and before 41wks!!).  Babies come when they want to.
  • @nomangos23 Congratulations to your friend, so glad she and baby are doing well!!! It's crazy how unpredictable this huge event in our lives is, and this time much more than last time I'm struggling with the uncertainty of how delivery will happen. I walked a lot last time (and ate pineapple!), and was induced at 41 weeks with no sign of impending labor (also with Cervidil) and told it could take days, but it was super fast (which surprised everyone, and tbh had its own problems) and they didn't put me on pitocin. I will probably eat the pineapple and take the walks this time too, even though I don't believe they'll make the difference!
  • @nomangos23 congrats to your friend!

Yeah you just don't know how it's all going to go down, just gotta go with the flow best you can.

I think the freaking out is coming back to me slowly.  When I first found out I was pregnant again (whoopsie!) I have some major freaking out.  Past 6 weeks or so I've gotten fairly zen about it but lately it's getting to me again!  This has been the most emotion roller coaster pregnancy I've ever had :-/

  • @lillywonderland I continue to stand in awe of you! A FOUR MILE HIKE on your due date?! Girl I can barely hike 4 miles not pregnant! We did 3 in Santa Fe last week and it was a struggle (although I think the altitude was at play a bit) Tell me more about this membrane sweep. I asked BFF if her doc would do one and she had literally never heard of it and her doc never suggested it either. Maybe you have to be dilated for it to have any effect?
  • @nomangos23 you’re going to hear all kinds of horror stories, unfortunately! And people that had good, uncomplicated labor and deliveries often don’t speak of it, so it’ll be uneven in what people report!

I didn’t have a great experience with my son’s labor and delivery, BUT here I am again and I am excited to meet this new babe and signed up for it all over again. Pretty much try to let go of feeling any control and just know that staff will take care of you and your baby, and getting that baby keeps you going through whatever it is that may happen. Honestly, so much just turns into a blur at some point and then there’s a baby in your arms❤️ And if it’s traumatic, you become a warrior and can remind your kid of that anytime need to 😉 Your momma instincts really do kick in, and you just keep going. I don’t know how to explain it, but trust your body and your care team and that’s all you can do!
  • @blitzybee great points and so true even after labor.  If parenthood has taught me anything it's that you can deal with a lot more stuff than you think you can.  Because when it comes down to it, you just do what you gotta do in that moment and you turn out just fine on the other side :-)
  • All I can think right now is thank goodness we live when (and where) we do, with access to modern medicine and medical professionals to help us through the hard stuff!
  • I bought these really cute blush colored moto jeans a few weeks back (from a neighbor selling maternity clothes online) and was so excited to wear them for several months and they are already digging into my legs and bump! Whyyyyyy?

  • @nomangos23 The membrane sweep is getting to be rather controversial (depending on who you ask).  Many practitioners use it to "speed up" early labor, but the more natural proponents will tell you that doing that increases the odds that you'll need additional interventions during labor (I don't know whether that's true - it's what Hypobabies preaches).  My doc did it without asking me.  I was pretty miffed.
  • @nomangos23 Did I also mention we did a 5 mile hike the week before? And a couple hikes in Joshua Tree NP when I was 36wks. It was funny watching everyone’s reactions on the trail when I passed them. LOLOLOLOLOL!! I’m not nearly in as great shape as I was when PG before, but I’m holding my own!
  • @lillywonderland I feel like we're sisters from another mister!  I ran and hiked throughout my first pregnancy, too (and am doing what I can this time but toddler schedule is interfering).  It was always a great boost to have people say things like, "I can't believe you're running!"  and "You're an inspiration!"  I got the most comments on my trail run in HI on our babymoon.  That was fun.  :)
  • I hiked right up until delivery too pretty much. So much easier when you don't have a 4 yr old!

Last time I was worried about being too confident about labor but terrified of taking care of a baby. This time I keep running through the what ifs of labor but at the end of the day I am just so excited to get baby no matter how it happens.
  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY @LJMoon6!!!!! Welcome to your 30s!!!! (Hope I’m not too late!!)

  • I’m really depressed about our town making national news again for a school shooting. My heart is so broken for the families affected by it. Is Colorado just becoming a dangerous place to raise kids? Or am I crazy to think that? I don’t know. Just sad and terrified. Sorry for the depressing post. There are so many amazing people out there, and I hate being scared. Ugh.
  • @blitzybee I’m right there with you. I feel so scared all the time about something like this happening! I don’t know if CO is really more dangerous or if people in general all over the country are, but either way it terrifies me.

@lillywonderland Thank you!! You’re not too late, my birthday was yesterday (I think some people mistook my comment last week and thought my birthday was last week but it was actually this week. Sorry for the confusion!). I thought maybe I’d do something special because it’s the big 3 0 but I didn’t. It was just another day spending 10 hours at work and crashing in bed by 8 lol. We’ll maybe go out to a special restaurant this weekend. A bunch of my friends turn 30 this year so we’re trying to plan some big get together. I suggested we do a weekend spa!

@blitzybee @zuuls_mom it is so horrible. I'm so sorry this is so close to home for you both. I just can't believe this keeps happening. I'm going an outdoor concert on Saturday and I know I'm going to be worried. I hate that we have to think about these things now.
