I can't keep up with you all today! I’m on my way home from work (hell) and I'm too tired (lazy) to figure out who to tag so I'm just gonna group my comments by topic.
HDBD ghost: I deliberately didn't love tit you but loved everyone else because I'm petty like that. Also you have gorgeous hair and I'm jealous.
Dr. Seuss: Half the time I have trouble speaking normally without stumbling over words. Whoever said they tried to teach their son how to say “fox” - lol!
Pros to being KU in summer: I don’t have any other time to compare it to, but here’s what I can think of: -Sundresses and sandals and muumuus -Letting it all hang out in a bikini while daring people to judge you -Super low chance of going into labor during a snow storm -In the late summer we’ll all probably extra miserable but everyone else will be miserable in the heat too, so they can kind of share in our pain (again, I’m petty) -It’s not cold and flu season -Our babies won’t be born on any major holidays (obviously depends on your religion. And also besides Labor Day.)
@nomangos23 Benefits: If they were born in early summer, it'd be too hot to take them outside all of maternity leave! Being born at the end of summer means we can soak up all that autumn sun and crisp air! +1 to having the holidays off (or, at least returning right before them when no one cares at all about work). +1 to not having to buy expensive winter layers! Sun dresses are cheaper, comfier and don't require layering! +1 to no snowstorms for the drive to or from the hospital! Also, in my experience (since DS1 is also a Sept baby), the heat isn't any worse when you're pregnant than when you're not. Of course, I live in CO, so I might not be a fair judge of that.
I was attempting to paint drawer pulls for the dresser I found. This jerk face is the reason why I'm not getting much done. Also, painting knobs sucks and I'm just buying the ones I want from Hobby Lobby next week.
@zuuls_mom I’ve noticed a lot of the early Jan people posting on the December board. Bunch of noobs I guess. Lol
I have not been around much lately. The situation with my boss has me stressed out. Not just because I’m worried about her and baby but also because I’m taking over her hours currently and it was just not something I was prepared to do and I’ve been working more than I want to and my coworkers are sucking at picking up some of the slack. Stressed, party of one. At least the manager noticed how stressed I was Friday and is trying to help. They’re going to be down two echo techs at this rate.
I joined the group late. I am hoping to catch up and get to know all of you. I have gone back several months and read the early intros.
I do not do well in the heat so I always said I do not want to be pregnant in the summer. Thank goodness I have AC and the place I work just changed the dress code. Hurray for shorter sleeves and open toed shoes.
@taeleigh hi there ! I also don't do well in the heat so I think I'll be staying inside as much as possible this summer. My biggest fear is getting the "mask of pregnancy" on my face because of too much sun.
@mamaber2204 Kids rain boots from Target! Size 6 in kids fit my size 9 feet. AND they were on clearance. Why do kids always get the fun stuff? Granted, shoes are probably the only thing that still fits me. 😆
Hi @taeleigh! We are friendly group, so welcome to the madness! A word of caution, don't look at any of the food boards if you are hungry or might possibly be hungry.
I also hate heat! I always said I’d never want to be pregnant over summer yet here we are... I’m really regretting not getting central air last year. I’m feeling extra frugal this year with 8 weeks unpaid mat leave right before Christmas 😭
@nda_roxybabe I thought it was illegal to live in AZ and not have a pool!?!?! It should be... I’m planning a bachelorette party in AZ in the end of June (location picked by the bride, not me) and every time I think about it, I start sweating.
I am also not a fan of the heat. And it gets so humid here. I might spring for a pool membership this year even though we live right on Lake Michigan. Sand all up in my big ol’ belly does not sound fun. And kid wrangling at the beach sucks.
I am loving all the benefits of summer, especially the low probability of a snowstorm. Until I remembered there has been snow recorded in every month of the year here. 😲 since having DS my internal temperature has been freezing, so I'm really hoping that stays true through the summer since we don't have ac.
@sunshine2417 It should be! When we were house hunting we were adament we didnt want a pool because of the maintenence. Well, somehow we ended up with a way more involved pond and wish we had a pool. Next House!
@nda_roxybabe I grew up with a pool and it made summer sooooo much more tolerable. However DH isn't a fan of the water and doesn't want to deal with the maintenance. But instead he has to deal with his wife's constance badgering about how much less miserable she'd be if she had a pool. He has no idea what this summer has in store for him
We had a pool in high school and I LOVED it, but the maintenance can be a pain in the butt—ideally I’d just love a neighborhood pool, which we were suppoooooosed to have until our development was sold off to another builder 🤬
I would much rather have a pool versus my grassy backyard but my dogs would disagree. The cost/maintenance of one and only really getting 3 months out of it here in Michigan make it hard to rationalize. I will just stick my big pregnant butt into the kids 3 foot one this summer.
@monkeysmom80 I tried getting the large size plastic pool last year and my dogs did their zoomies around the yard and right into the pool every time I got it out, leaving it full of grass and dirt.
We have a wedding to go to tonight. My bump is still kinda small so I'm not sure if I should wear my tight maternity dress and risk just looking fat or if I should wear a looser regular dress and hide the bump. Thoughts?

@ljmoon6 Whatever you feel more comfortable in! I'm still doing loose dresses because I feel like I look fat in fitted dressed but that's just my self esteem talking! For whatever reason it's better if I wear a fitted dress and light kimono type pull over to help side some side jiggle.
@nomangos23 I bought a cover for ours. That way the dogs stayed out and it kept the water cleaner a bit longer so I didn't have to empty and refill as much
ETA we have the blue and white blow up intex pool.
Thanks @nomangos23 and @lillywonderland I ran out of time getting ready otherwise I would have posted pics. I ended up going with the tight maternity dress. I definitely got some of the questioning looks but I'm sick of hiding the bump!

@zuuls_mom thanks for the reach out! 🥰 I am just now noticing it. We were on vacation and then my app went weird. Hanging in there with the drama in my life, and loving having all of the gals here for support in this lovely crazy mess! Update on the hubby situation - after 3 weeks of living apart and some therapy, he’s agreed to follow through with some additional support. The therapist was finally just very straight forward with him and I think he is going to get diagnosed sooner than later with a mood disorder. My husband was in shock after finally realizing some of his behaviors are way out of the healthy norm of life- and I’m wanting to be supportive while he goes through this major life transition (as long as he works towards fixing these issues). Keeping my fingers crossed that we continue to move forward and thankful that we’ve made some progress. It’s going to be a long journey, but I can be on board if he keeps trying. And on a positive note, our trip went well. My parents were also on the trip, so we were all well distracted😁 (and they knew what was going on, so they treaded lightly). Whew. I SO appreciate being able to let it all out to you wonderful, wonderful people❤️ Sometimes I hop on here and just get lost in being thankful for a place to chat with you all and forget about the frustrations I’ve got going on with him! 🤗🤗🤗
@blitzybee I’m SO happy to hear he’s open to working on things and that it seems they will improve!! No doubt it’s been a hard road to get here, and I’m sure there’s more to come! You’re amazing for putting in the effort to see it through and work on things together! Hopefully you both come out even stronger on the other side!
@blitzybee I'm so glad the therapist was straightforward with him and, as someone with mental health issues, I'm so glad you are willing to work with him as he gets help and learns new approaches to behavior. Major thumbs up and congrats and good thoughts to you both!
So my emotions have been all over the place lately. Add to it that we live near a school and the seniors decided to include is in their prank.Which, normally, I wouldn't have a problem with. Except that this year the seniors apparently all disagreed on what to do, so too much was done by too many different people. (Lots of property damage and a host of other issues that spent normally had). They swiped the rainbow flag off my porch, intending to fly it off the school flagpole. Fine, no biggie, if they had asked I'd have just provided one but I get wanting to do minor mischief. The problem comes in that groups 2 and 3 were banging on my door and screaming well after midnight. So my HR skyrockets and I cant get it back down for 16 hours.
So, so pissed off. And we live rurally, any of these kids could have been shot (not an exaggeration in the slightest) by any of my neighbors and they all typically know and do better. But at least my flag was returned the next day and I didn't have to go to the ER. 🤷🏻♀️😕
@cheshyre319 oh noooo—I would have been SO annoyed and frustrated. Kids are gonna be kids, but keep the prank to your school grounds and not to harassing the community, especially middle of the night! I’m sorry, love!
@blitzybee so happy to hear your update!! I am so hopeful for you that things will start getting better.
@cheshyre319 oh yikes! That sounds like a stressful night for sure!!
I feel like I’ve been MIA all weekend. *TW today would have been my due date with the baby boy we lost so I’m kind of having a bit of a pity party. I’ve cried more than I thought I would. DS has been so sweet though and hugs me and pats me on the back. I hate crying in front of him though. End TW*

@zuuls_mom That’s so heartbreaking😥 Anniversaries of my losses tend to upset me more than I’ve expected, too. You cry all you need to! Being real in front of your kiddo is okay, and I love that he’s being so sweet to you! Sending hugs your way. ❤️
@zuuls_mom soooooo many hugs and loss-mama-love to you! Anniversaries are so hard! Mourn how you need to and celebrate life how you can! It’s so so hard!

Bring on the (dry) heat! DH and I were those nutters out golfing in 110+ heat in Palm Springs back when we were DINKS!
