Am I the only one that insists on bagging my own groceries even when I don’t go to the self check out? I bring my own bags and just tell the cashier that I’m happy to bag myself. They’re always usually happy they don’t have to do it, and then I get to do it my way!
@pumpkinpancake half the time I go to regular checkout they dont have a bagger and I end up bagging it myself anyways, but even doing that they dont always ring up my items the way I put them on the belt, they just randomly reach and fill a few bags and send items down to be bagged. It still gets spread out but not as bad as them doing it all.. Edit auto correct
None of the wegmans here use baggers so they don’t have the set up at the back of the register. They have papers and baskets at the back so if I wanted to bag myself I’d have to either do it from the side and have my bag on top of the counter (short girl problem) or I’d have to use the bagging area right in front of the cashier, which would be ridiculously awkward. That’s probably one of the only things I don’t like about wegmans.
YAS! on how to bag stuff! Cold stuff with cold stuff at least people! The cashier that came and stood behind me and tried to talk while I was checking out last night, I had talked with her last time I was there. Before I could check out they had to verify I was over 18 to purchase canned air, like to dust electronics, etc. (I use it for my sewing machine). I couldn't figure out what was needing my age until she came and pointed it out, and I said 'Oh yeah, I'd forgotten about that fad'. So we laughed a little and now she must think I wanna discuss the folly of kids these days, every time I come in. I just wanna buy my stuff and go home thanks. Trials of being an introvert...
I just chugged my glucose drink for the test and it was a clear drink and the flavor was fruit punch. It actually tasted kind of good. Way better than the orange garbage I drank last time. Unfortunately I can't leave the waiting room for an hour! It's dreary in here and reeks of clinical disease and desolation.
So it's weird that you have to pay for shopping carts in Canada, but the universal health coverage and paid maternity leave must be nice! That and your butter tarts are lovely.
Our small town grocery store must teach the baggers how to do it. they also carry it out for you or push your cart and unload the groceries into your vehicle for you. I have a bunch of those reusable bags, but they've accumulated at home and I haven't remembered to take em for ages I really like using those, so I don't have to mess with plastic ones. My mom did a thing where she'd put our Christmas gifts in one instead of a gift bag, which was awesome, so I have a good number of them!
It makes sense. Our local grocery store had those fun carts with the little car for kids to drive with the two seats and wheels which my son loved. Unfortunately they are no more because homeless people stole them all!
I go during the day to our smaller, local chain grocery store (instead of Safeway), they often have workers who are a bit slower mentally doing the bagging. They're so thorough and careful to bag things properly and since I have a designated cold bag (insulated and zippered), they always get all my cold stuff together in the right bag. It might take an extra minute or two, but I'm glad to shop with a company that employs people who might need some extra help and supports them. (At least, it seems like it's a good environment to work. Everyone is generally chatty and helpful.) And the cold bag is definitely a plus when I'm walking home with a bunch of groceries and it takes me 30 mins because I get tired so easily and have to stop and take a break...
Binge Watching botched because I'm obsessed with the craziness of some people!! Example a woman wants to go from I think 1600 cc's to 2000 in her boobs!! She Boob twerked guys I can't handle it. Plus I love when they can actually help people who need it
I cried today because I made pasta and meatballs and put a bunch of EXPIRED parmesan cheese on it. I was starving and so upset. Then the smell of the cheese almost made me puke. I ended up eating baked beans on toast because I was so hungry
Me 33 DH 41 TTC since 2016 Due: October 12, 2018 Location: Ontario, Canada
It was tasty but not what I was craving! Such a waste of food too! DH ate his because he said it didn't taste bad and he didn't put too much on ans he didn't want me to think we wasted too mcmu. All I could smell was the moldy smell. Worst part is I just bought the cheese like a month ago!
Me 33 DH 41 TTC since 2016 Due: October 12, 2018 Location: Ontario, Canada
DH was all cuddly with my belly tonight and talking to G. It so cute, especially when kicked at the sound of his voice. I can't wait for it to be October.
@sammierose464 I love that your DH talks to the bump!! I'm still having a hard time talking to my own bump honestly, but DH comes and says hi and bye to the babies when he gets home or goes to work or wakes up in the morning. I talk to them when they kick or move but need to do it more for sure
I haven’t talked to mine. It just doesn’t occur to me to yet... my husband has a little bit. Sometimes just to tell her that her mom is crazy, but sometimes to say I love you. He’s going to be more of a natural at this parenting thing than me. He has the benefit of having a baby sister when he was like 14 and due to his family circumstances had to be very responsible and watch her a lot.
DH doesn’t talk to my belly. He didn’t talk to DS when I was pregnant with him either - only to DD. It’s funny because the only voice this baby responds to is DS’s. They’re going to be best friends.

My dd who is three talks to lo every day. When I get home from work she tells his she missed him. I love it.
Also have to share, a friend from high school is currently 41 weeks and 6 days today. I feel so bad for her! She gets induced tomorrow if baby doesn’t come today. Maybe it’s a cryptic pregnancy!?
I don't talk to my belly, it feels suuuuper weird to me. Well, that's not true. I complain and say "OUCH" and "STOP IT" because the somersaults and kicking gets a little aggressive at night and sometimes keeps me up. I thought the kicks were supposed to be all cute and gentle this early? I don't particularly care for the feeling like my organs are on a roller coaster.
ETA: i am thankful that I do feel something, it is quite reassuring to know she's still kicking up a storm
I can’t find if we have a discussion on baby registries?? I’m doing some fine tuning on my Amazon registry. Does anyone know if there is a way to indicate if I want more than 1 of something? I chose quantity 2 then add to registry, but when I go to my registry it always just says 0 of1 purchased.
Similarly for products with size or color options I would like to specify, but it doesn’t seem to save those selections.
The one thing that’s good about the glucose test is that it gives me time for bumping on my phone! I have a lot to catch up on.
The drink they gave me wasn’t bad. Lemon lime flavor kinda like flat Sprite. I had only scrambled eggs and black tea for breakfast so hopefully that worked!
My H talks to my belly- it makes my heart melt. I am with a bunch of you though on mostly saying 'stop it!' when he kicks too hard. He is gonna bruise my spleen soon...
@rabtaido1214 I tried looking, but couldn't find one...I thought we did have one though...
anyway, that's super weird...You should be able to have more than one quantity by doing exactly what you said. I haven't run into issues with the size/color option either. UNLESS...are you trying to use the universal registry feature? You won't be able to choose size/color from external sites...I just put that info in the comments.
Also everyone should double check their registries to make sure you don't have accidental duplicates. I had 2 of the same high chair on my registry, and thought I had deleted one of them a few weeks ago. Well my mom texts me yesterday to say "hey someone bought the high chair but not off the registry so go remove it from your registry right now so no one else does". So I look, and it was still a quantity of TWO requested. GAH! I could have ended up with THREE high chairs lol. Talk about extra...
@jemmerjams thanks! I went on to a PC to look at my registry at work and now I see how to edit quantity and it seems to be working. I guess the app doesn’t work for that.
In the app- go to your registry through the lists function. Select the item and then click “Item Settings”. You can adjust the requested quantity and add comments there.
When you add an item to the registry, it adds it with the size/color you selected. You can’t actually see this information from the registry, but you can double check it by adding it to your cart, going into the cart, and clicking on the item.
Unfortunately, you can’t adjust the size/color from the registry. You have to delete the item and then add it back with the correct details.
@purplegoldfish2 Our wegmans has a bagging area. They never use it but they do have one.
The only time I talk to my bump is when I tell it to simmer down in there. Also the first time DH put his head on my stomach with both kids he got kicked in the face. I'm glad they have the same personality.
I made a registry yesterday for new baby and realized I need so little, but feel like I'm missing something. I have new pacifiers, new nipples for the baby bottles, and a car seat which we bought when it was on a special price. I did put the Graco Extend2Fit deal in there, but I'll post this on the registry thread.
ETA: The registry is just for the discount no shower for number two. I didn't want you all to think I was weird. OR "Special"

Welp, took the dog to the vets this am, they felt her down, checked her spine and moved her head, didnt look at her legs at all which I mentioned she'd been favoring one side I just couldn't remember which, and decided it's probably a back issue since her breed (pomeranian dachshund mix) is prone to back problems. They gave us an anti inflammatory for possible swollen disc and a muscle relaxer and said not to let her jump on and off of furniture... that's going to be the toughest part since they pretty much love/live on the couch... guess we'll try a ramp and if that doesn't work go back to a gate around the couch..
I think the Build-A-Bear event today was worse than Black Friday. I can’t believe I went to it because I knew it would be bad and I refuse to shop on Black Friday because of the chaos. At our store, the store never told the mall about the event, so they had zero prep and not a ton of security guards. Then the guards tried to move the line because it was circling back to the store and they completely screwed it up. Finally they left us all where we were and called the police to fix it.... somebody said there were 20 police cars outside and they had to call neighboring departments to cover their town because every available officer was at the mall dealing with this. Then an officer, who arrived first but well after security messed up the line, puts police tape up through the middle of the wrong line (security ended up splitting the line and people just arriving were getting in 2 different lines, but the officer cut off the line of people that showed up early instead of the new line). People that were cut off were pissed & went over to speak with security/police about what happened and they just let those people skip the whole line and go in the store. That made the people waiting at the front of the line mad because they had been there for a couple hours already and the people complaining were there for maybe half an hour (based on where we were in line and how long we had been there). Then Build-A-Bear closed the store and wouldn’t let anybody in, so the whole line freaked out. They ended up giving vouchers for $15 off, which doesn’t make the price even close to what it would have been unless your kid is 10. I couldn’t manage to get a voucher for my kids as people walked by with them so ended up standing in line waiting with rumors that the closing was temporary and others saying it was for the day. A lot of people took the vouchers and left based on the not opening back up rumor and we ended up pretty close to the front, still waiting in line to get the voucher (or so I thought). It turned out they said that to get people to leave and once the line was under control and the store was empty they let 20 kids in and then started one in and one out. We ended up waiting 4 hours to get in the store from the time we arrived. The lady stuffing my kids’ bears told me I could get one for baby for $1 even though the website said expectant moms couldn’t do that, so we got one for baby girl too. We ended up with $105 worth of bears for $11 - I’m still not sure it was worth the 5 hours total, but I’m pretty sure Build-A-Bear won’t be doing this event again any time soon. Apparently they were surprised at how popular the event was and had problems at all of their US and Canadian locations because of the number of people that showed up.
Edit: wow that’s long.
TLDR: Build-A-Bear really effed up with their pay your age event.
The fact that the build a bear problem was on the news is killing me! I think it was a great idea in theory but there was no preparation for this and you can tell by how many stores were closing and cutting off lines and the need for police enforcement.. imagine if this was on the weekend and more parents had the day off it would've been 10× worse I'm sure!! I love build a bear dont get me wrong, I have all the ones I've gotten/made over years or was one of DHs and I's first dates but but I dont think I'd attempt to go to that sale if they tried it again. @purplegoldfish2 kudos to you mama!! I dont think I'd have the patience for others people, their kids, mine.. you got a hell of a deal for waiting!!
@purplegoldfish2 one of my coworkers who doesn’t work on Thursdays went with her kids to our build a bear, and apparently it’s crazy here too! Didn’t hear of any police being there yet, but it’s crazy how much of a turnout they got for this promotion! I think last I heard, she had been waiting since like 8am and hadn’t gotten in the store yet, but that was like an hour or so ago. I don’t think I could handle that line and wait with my 2 year old!
We got there around 8:30/8:45 and got in the store at 12:30. Really, security messing up the line worked to our favor because I’m pretty sure they moved a large chunk of the line down and then for some reason told the people a few people in front of me to go where those people were instead of behind them. I’m sure if security hadn’t messed up we would still be in line (or more likely at home bearless).
Most people were pretty good - there were some obnoxious people, but they were obnoxious before the chaos really started so I just kept rolling my eyes at them. A guy that worked at the kiosk we were stuck near for an hour or 2 gave me his chair to sit in & after everybody left with their vouchers and we were near the front of the line but the store wasn’t open a very nice couple held our spot in line so I could take the kids to the bathroom. Even most of the kids there were great. I couldn’t believe how well behaved mine were and everybody else’s seemed to be handling it well too. Of course, the people with kids that weren’t probably left.
ETA: unless they drastically change the way they do it, we will probably not go to the sale if they ever have it again either. Great deal, but still 5 hours waiting for a few stuffed animals..
@britvahok We probably would have done that instead, but my boys wanted Star Wars bears. If it was pay your age for any bear on your birthday, there’s no way I would have gone today.
I heard about that bear promotion and knew instantly I wanted to go nowhere near that shit show! My kid has like a dozen plush toys, none of which he gives any fucks for anyways. How did they not anticipate this madness and better prepare!?
