Happy birthday @sammierose464 (: I agree birthday should be paid days off! Mines happens to already be on a holiday but our union recently decided it wasn't going to be considered a holiday so boo.. (if were on a job were usually working through holidays but only so many are considered holidays where you get double time)
@kiwi2628 I think I just read that you are right outside Manhattan in the day care thread. I had no idea! We are in Manhattan and have been for the last ten years. I keep saying we should prob open up our options with the more kids we are having, but my husband is sooooooo not into the idea of leaving the city yet. Maybe he will be once #2 actually comes?! Do you work in the city?
So I still feel leaky and have had a little more clear fluid. Messaged my OB to see if I should go back in and a nurse called me back and said basically I can go if I want, but it’s probably urine or discharge. Also even if it is a tiny leak of amniotic fluid they can heal back over, and they wouldn’t want me to deliver obviously for a long time so I should just make sure I don’t start running and fever and keep an eye on it. So, that’s what I’m doing. Feeling a little weird about it because what about mucus plugs? Wouldn’t that be a thing that would prevent this? Anyway. I’m a little less worried now I guess.
@DunkinDecaf sorry it's still happening! I hear you re: mucus plug. It always amazes me that we get numerous stretch and sweeps before that thing will fall out...like how?!
@sliztee could totally be that too. I’m even second guessing the “leaky” feeling that’s been worrying me so much, bc I’m afraid I’m feeling it because I keep thinking about it you know? Like how you can get itchy by thinking about being itchy. Anyway. Hopefully nothing happens and I’ll just add this to the growing list of data to support me probably being insane.
Maybe I'm weird, but I like using self-checkouts at stores so I don't feel like I have to make small talk with cashiers or anyone. Our closest Wal-Mart now has two chatty old ladies in charge of them and they like to come talk to me. The one has such a soft voice that I can barely hear her anyway, but if the children are with, she'll try and talk with them some while I'm trying to scan my groceries. DH has started to take them out to the vehicle so I can avoid as much small talk as possible. Just let me scan my food in peace please!
@coffee-saur@knottieamusements the cashiers at our whole foods are sometimes quite chatty. We had a lively discussion about Black Mirror one time. He kept trying to convince us to watch it, but we were like "nah man, after that first episode I'm traumatized FOR LIFE" (we actually got through a couple more after, but still terrified of another episode 1).
@estellegetty yea, we are in CT right on the metro north line. I don't work in the city but my H does. We probably would be in the city except after college I went to vet school and my H became a marine officer, so we both left the tristate area for 4 years, and when we came back, we knew we would have kids in like 3 ish years, so we just figured we would move out to the suburbs and get settled where we wanted to be, but sometimes my H does pine for the city. I like being out here though
@knottieamusements I'd say that at least 75% of the time while unpacking groceries I'm complaining about how they were bagged. I take so much care to unload the cart with like items together so that they are bagged correctly so its extra annoying when I find my cold stuff split up over 4 bags and mixed together this like bathroom cleaner, ggggrrrrrrr
@jemmerjams I like some crazy crap but I can't do Black Mirror!
I love it when the cashier acknowledges the way I unload the cart and place things together that should make their lives easier to bag! It makes me know that the cashier knows how to do their jobs well! Boxed foods go with boxed foods, fruit and veg together, eggs and bread together, cold stuff with cold stuff. NOT that hard people - get with the program!

I used to work at a grocery store - back when they taught employees how to pack a bag. I hate the way the cashiers pack them now. Do I really need 5 bags for 7 items? I get that there are some customers that complain that the bags are too heavy, but they are usually elderly or ask you to pack them light. I use the self checkouts just so I can have a normal amount of bags - and I frequently go through with more than the allowed number of items, which I wouldn’t do if any of the cashiers new how to bag groceries.
@purplegoldfish2 Our stores charge 5 cents for plastic bags so our cashiers cram them full if people don't bring their own bags. Sometimes they are way to heavy but luckily their made the plastic heavier so they can put more in each bag so they don't break. I HATE when I forget my bags and have to pay.

Even when I bring my own bags they don’t like to put anything in them. One time I told the cashier to put everything in the bag I brought... they didn’t want to do it and kept asking me “this too?” for everything. It was pretty heavy, but I’m overrun with all the plastic bags and didn’t want more! I do take them back to be recycled when I remember, but usually they accumulate in my house for months and then sit by the front door for more months before I remember to take them to my car... where they sit for another month or so before I take them into the store.
I hate that my city recycle program won't take plastic bags. We reuse them for things like small trash cans, or DH's lunch. However, we don't go through that many. I'm bad at remembering to take my reusable bags.
@nasalot188 say what? There are stores charging for a shopping cart?!?!?! Eff that shit, I'd never shop there. What are you supposed to use, your purse?!?!
Would anyone use any of these gift cards? If so they’re yours! Also FYI Seven has a buy one (sling or wrap. Mix and match) get one for $10 plus 40% off right now.
@jemmerjams there are a few here in Canada that do. Usually the lower end budget grocery stores like No Frills. Costco used to, but they stopped I think due to backlash. I mean we pay $50-$100 bucks a year to be members at Costco dammit LOL get real.
Edit - i should clarify that it's like a quarter for a shopping cart at these places...but still. It's the principal!
@nasalot188 You don’t get your quarter back?! I guess it’s only a quarter but still. In OH we had Aldis where you’d have to stick a quarter in the cart to unlock it but when you returned it you’d get the quarter back.
@purplegoldfish2 your self checkouts have item limits?! I always go through with a cart full! Dh gets annoyed when he comes with me because he ends up being the bagger but it's better than dealing with stuff spread out like you ladies said. We dont gra charged for bags either but if we ever did I'd definitely be buying the reusable ones, I should anyways honestly
@mamabearcj Yep, something like 20 items. I think it’s because they have limited space for you to fill your bags and taking a bag off before you’ve paid messes up the machine and slows everything down. I almost always have more than that and only once ran out of room (I just piled the stuff up on the bag area and bagged it after I paid).
For Aldi's if I try to carry what I want then I buy less it works out for everyone, but yes the quarter pops right out when you return the cart and lock it up. Although the last time it was one of the stupid hot days and I'm like nah I'm good I'm not walking across the parking lot. Enjoy your free cart peoples.
Now that I'm trying to bump more, my work is severely suffering. It bothers me less than it should.

@nasalot188 the no frills / price chopper stores are the only ones that seem to charge here in Toronto. It used to he a quarter but now is a loonie. You get it back when you return the cart. The other stores have made their carts self locking when they get to a certain boundary to prevent people from taking the carts off the lots. So they don't have the deposit system. The paying for bags thing is stupid. It was implemnted by the government to help reduce the use of plastic bags. It was a tax that the stores were supposed to pay to the government and then they found out nobody was really paying it or tracking it properly. So the government removed it and the stores never did! So now they are getting this money and the reason is they say it does help reduce the amount of bags but it's now not the law to charge it
