@sheepshepherdess So you heat the vinegar, salt, and water on the stove and then place it into the jar where you just put the garlic and all of the spices, put it in the fridge and voila you have pickles?
People think we become mothers when we give birth but the truth is we become mothers the moment we start calling our babies to us in our thoughts, dreams and prayers. Some paths are short and some are so long that you can easily forget where you were headed.

How I feel all of the time.

Well, I left out the main step... that recipe is one that I'll actually put in a water bath and can afterwards. The refrigerator pickles, you don't heat the brine, and you can just stick em in the fridge, but they only last a week or two. Canned pickles, well, we're still eating some that are 2 years old!

As a side note, I was born and raised outside of Chicago, so all this stuff is new to me, but I love it.

@nanner26@luckywife10 @jurassicsarp @TJtheGoat  I've heard the owl theory and I think it is interesting, but not more than interesting. My personal opinion is not that he didn't do it but that they didn't have enough evidence to convict without a doubt. But then you start going to that other woman and the OTHER staircase. I just don't knowwwwwwwwww.

@literatureandink exactly!!! Regardless of what anyone thinks, the prosecution didn't even come close to meeting their burden of proof. Their "expert" witness was a crackpot. And as creepily coincidental the other lady's death, neither that nor the gay stuff had any bearing on the case at hand and never should have been allowed into evidence. They poisoned the jury against him in a time and place that was already extremely subject to prejudice and sway. The South is not forgiving and is extremely slow to accept anything new or out of the norm, and as someone from the south I feel like i can say that with confidence lol.
  • Options
@jurassicsarp Yes!!! All of this! The other lady's death - weird as heck. Still should not be admissible. The gay stuff? Nope! Gay does not equal murder your wife. Only added to legitimate and UNDENIABLE evidence could either of the above be used to highlight a story that evidence is already telling. But in this case that did not happen.

@meri-mac I have goosebumps! You look stunning. I can't believe you ordered it online, sight unseen. The pearls, your shrug, love love love!

Super jealous of your long hair too. Mine is just past my shoulders and I'm ready to shave my head. LOL. I've had long hair most of my life but chopped it back to just below my chin to donate a couple years ago and have been keeping it shorter ever since. I'd love to have long hair for my wedding but realistically it's going to be up so it just needs to be long enough to look nice.

@kiki047 Thanks so much. I was thrilled with how everything dress related turned out. I felt truly beautiful which has been a struggle for me in the past. Before coming back to work I chopped off all my hair. It is at my shoulders now and I love it. It was too warm to keep going with the long mane :) I am sending all the good bridal thoughts to you for your wedding!

So, I had to see my obgyn last minute yesterday for severe bleeding.  I obviously had my pants and therefore shoes off.  I noticed a slight smell yesterday, but didn't think much of it.  Then today, I had to see a spine doctor, so again, shoes off.  Noticed the smell again.  My cat, who is jealous of my sick dog felt the need to mark my shoes.  I may murder him today.
  • Options
@holly321 NO! He didn't?! That is just awful, they can be such little jerks and there is nothing worse than the smell of cat pee. Has he acted out like that before? Hope you are able to get the smell out of your shoes.
One of my cats randomly pee'd on my gym bag a while back. I didn't notice until I got to the gym and was getting ready to teach my class and could just smell it. I had little yellow spots all over my white shirt I had packed for work, it was on my pants. Everything. I tried my best to wash it off and get ready to go to work. But when I got into my car and started driving I just couldn't. I just called in sick and took my smell a$$ home. The entire gym bag went into the washer when I walked in the door.
  • Options
@holly321 omg damn cats! I got into my truck on lunch Monday and all I could smell in my car was hot cat pee (it was already almost 80 and humid as h#&% by noon). It was so so gross. I was racking my brain trying to figure out why. Apparently one of ours marked a bag of clothes I was set to give to a friend.

@holly321 @nitnat007 @prpl11butterfly omg, cats. Cat piss has got to be one of the worst smells in the world. My tuxedo cat pees on the door if there’s somewhere she wants to go but can’t get to because I’ve shut the door. This includes the front door after I’ve left for the day. or if I lock her in/out of the bedroom.

@nitnat007, has acted on like this on several different occasions, but it is usually a lot more obvious, and fortunately has not caused public embarrassment, lol.  And fortunately you noticee before you got to work!

@prpl11butterfly, that is awful, good thing before you noticed before you gave your friend the clothes!

And lucky us, we are moving in the next few weeks and we are getting a kitten.  He is going to seek some serious revenge.

@holly321 So I used to have a long haired cat. She absolutely hated going to the groomer but it wasn’t an option for her. Well one time I brought her home let her out of her carrier and she went and pee’d on my Christmas Tree skirt, staring at me with the deadliest look while doing it.

Who is a gardener?  I have had what I think are Japanese Beetles BAD this year & despite treatment they are worsening. Is there anything I can do?

    TW-bug picture

  • Options
@jrm_14, we had a ton of Japanese Beatles a few years ago.  There is a type of bag that attracts them and then they are stuck.  They worked really quick.
  • Options
@jrm_14 .*big hugs*.   If you can't find them, my go to work bugs is mixing water and Dawn dish soap and spraying the crap out of everything.
  • Options
@jrm_14 I'm so sorry, I had the same thing happen to me last month in the garden. Finally got my green beans to do well and it strangely helped me feel better. I still don't know anyone here really well, but big hugs to you anyways. And as for the japanese beetles, my MIL has had good luck with milky spore. I haven't tried it, but she swears by it.

@jrm_14 I asked DH (he's worked in landscaping most of his life and went to school for horticulture) and he said to use pyrethrin spray for a vegetable garden; if not, use either pyrethrin or bifenthrin.  It would kill the bugs but not the plants.

ETA He said DO NOT use a trap, they attract more of them
ETAx2 easier to screenshot his responses

@meri-mac Your dress and hair is beautiful! I love your bouquet in your new profile pic as well! Looks like it was a gorgeous wedding.

@jrm_14 So sad about your garden. I know how attached one gets to their plants (when I am away from home I miss them more than my pets). I've heard of Dawn dish soap working. If you can get them gone, maybe you can put some netting over your strawberry plants to keep them gone.

Here is a dish soap spray recipe. https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/special/organic/natural-home-pesticides-organic-garden-pest-control.htm

ETA: I just noticed there is a link at the bottom the page from this link that specifically about Japanese Beetles.

@asupernovablizzardstorm I find myself watching those videos every time I scroll through FB or IG. Even for foods that I will never cook or would ever eat. lol.

I just finished watching Evil Genius on Netflix and can't wait to start The Staircase next. I listed to GenWhy's podcast on the case and it's so interesting!

@KristoKekerooni Laparoscopy/Hysteroscopy, custom orthotics, PRN med refills (ex: migraine meds), physical therapy, Rheumotology/immunology consult, dermatology skin cancer check, routine labs, nutrition consult if your insurance covers it, update vaccines, extra eye exam (they may code it for a Plaquenil eye exam since you’ve taken it), therapy.

@jrm_14 I j ust sent an email to OB asking them to see if lap/hysto can be covered since I don't have IF coverage. He's gonna check on it. good call on orthotics and dermatology though! I do have a nutrition consult. and I'm not sure about labs since I have ad so many. With the D&C they did a CBC and before IVF they checked all my vitamins.

And I'm sure I am due for a couple vaccines!
