Weekday Randoms 7/2

Re: Weekday Randoms 7/2

  • @emsnedds I’m wondering this too! My plan is to just plan ahead because DS is on a good schedule. So I’ll feed LO before nap and bed time so I can focus on DS. I bought DS some quiet toys like sticker and coloring books, some new cars, and we make homemade play doh that he gets really into. I usually shower during nap time anyways, so I’ll bring LO with me in a bouncy chair with me or put her in her bassinet because it’s close to the bathroom, like I did DS. I anticipate lots of baby wearing and Netflix until we find a good system.

  • @wildtot I have actually heard hands and knees floor scrubbing as an induction method...I am betting something to do with hips opening on all fours and rocking back and forth with the scrubbing motion. Although most of us don't hands and knees floor scrub unless its an awful stain or something sticky.
  • @emsnedds right now I either get up before my twins (they’re late sleepers, not usually up til 8/830), or I shower when they go down for their nap if I want to sleep in. Plan will be the same when baby girl gets here, I’m goung to keep our rocker/vibrating chair upstairs to put her in if she’s awake when I want to shower (since I feel like I’ll be more likely sleeping in lol).

  • @emsnedds I would plan to shower when your first LO is napping. My DS is 6 so it's a lot different for me, however with it just being myself, DS and now the baby I have to manage because DS doesn't nap anymore. I basically just lock the house up, set the alarm, keep the bathroom door open and let him play throughout the house. Normally he chooses to watch his tablet in my bedroom while I shower anyway so it works out and I put baby in the rock n play or bouncer in the bathroom right after a feeding. So far we are 6 days in and this is working great, although I wouldn't trust my 2 year old unsupervised so I would choose nap time if you have noone that can watch her.
  • @gingerbride26 I just LOL'd at that picture.  DD is repeatedly asking when she can hold baby brother and pat him and hug him.  Only sometimes she says something like "I want to give him a hard pat?"  Ack!  LOL  She also talks incessantly about giving him a blanket and a pillow and an animal.  I'm going to have to make sure she doesn't smother him!

So, my in-laws are officially on call now for DD instead of my parents.  MIL is now calling or texting me daily.  She just called to ask if I can warn her "as early as possible, in case she needs a shower" and asking me questions about my next doctor's appointment and if they're going to "poke around down there".  AAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!  I know she's anxious about being there for us for DD, but talk about invasion of privacy!!!!  I'm going to have to tell DH to tell her to only communicate through him.

Love having a half day. Feet are up, cleaning the 6-9 month clothes my sister sent (already did newborn-6 months last week). Roomba taking care of floors. The roomba seriously is a live saver. We have been bringing in so much stuff that we had pieces of cardboard and packing materials all over the place and the idea of being on my feet vacuuming myself sounded like torture.
  • So those movie tickets i had for today...apparently i can’t get a refund even if i cancel ahead of the showing because it was part of s promotion. You bet i sent an angry email. Like really going into labor was not a valid excuse to bypass that rule?
  • @paytonpedro I'm still very pregnant and all signs of labor have stopped; no more contractions, no more bh, nothing except discomfort. Also, clary sage oil didnt do shiitake. I'm due in 20 days.

I went on a major cleaning spree yesterday, climbing shelves to dust, purging crap, vacuuming, the works. Still nothing. I'm just uncomfortable, a major bitch to dh, and exhausted.  Woke up to a flat tire this morning. Luckily there is a gas station down the street and I filled it up then took it to the tire shop. Had a screw in it. Nothing major and they were able to patch it. I blame dh because he used my car last.

At least I'm on maternity leave and currently laying down watching season 2 of Nailed It! I have a bunch of laundry to do, which I have no desire to take downstairs. Laziness.. pure laziness today.

  • @wildtot I would totally rage email too. I hope they give you a refund.

  • @sm05-2 wow some of your experiences labor wise were simil to mine! During my cervical check I was only 2cm & 80% efface. They saw me contractions and called the doctor for orders. They didn’t monitor me and went straight to the OR, so interesting to hear they kept you for that regardless of a CS.

Labor sucks! Omg i never imagined it feelings like that! So much respect to all mommies! There is certainly no easy way do have a baby. I was crying halfway through the car ride there and H was making me nervous with his driving as it rained with lightning storm. He also video taped a transformer blowing up while driving! Wtf?!?! You can hear me yelling at him in the video.
  • congrats @emsnedds and @wildtot!!

  • @wildtot I angry emailed Cineplex when my BIL got in a serious car accident when we had movie tickets that they said were non-refundable. They gave me the refund, I hope you get one too!

  • @flockofmoosen3 great thread ideas! I don't want the board to die after everyone births!
  • I don't want this board to die either! I don't use Facebook really and I love this group!
  • Congratulations to all the mamas! It’s so exciting to see the announcements come in! I know I’m a few weeks away from my EDD but reading the stories makes me feel like I’m practically there! So excited for you all and definitely support the post partum threads to keep the dialog going!
  • Love all the postpartum thread ideas! Feeding and postpartum recovery/wellness are definitely going to be needed.

I felt two contractions during acupuncture today and absolutely nothing since then. Also don’t feel like the sweep did anything. Not one drop of discharge/mucus/blood/whatever else is supposed to be coming out, no cramps, nothing. Just sitting here bouncing on my ball like a crazy person.
  • I had my docs appt today...I'm 37 +4 and did my Gbs swab. They had me do it myself and instructed me to put half the swab in my vagina and then pull it out and stick the tip in my butt. Half the swab! It was so far up there! Now I'm crampy and I dont remember having to do that with my last two. Did everyone else have to insert that far in the vagina? Also no cervix check and I don't go back til I'm 39 weeks. This hospital is weird I feel like that's a lot of time between appts this late in the game.
  • @SmashJam I didn’t get swabbed because I had a GBS uti so I’m considered positive, but when I had planned surgery for my thyroid removal, they made me do my own MRSA swabs.

  • @SmashJam weird! I think my doc did a quick insert vaginally but not far in. Nor did she “go in” to my butt. That was just from the outside.
  • @SmashJam mine was like @wildtot described. She basically just brushed over my butt never inserted anything. Also I think every dr is different but mine does cervix checks starting at 37 weeks and weekly appointments until baby arrives following week 37, with cervix checks at every appointment unless you decline (or possibly CS not sure on those.)
  • That's pretty awesome @gingerbride26!

I had the same experience as @wildtot for the GSB. Luckily it was negative!

Had a lady offer to do labor/delivery and post psrtum pictures for only $200 but it still feels like money we shouldn't spend. My doula took pictures with DD so I feel a little guilty that we won't have many with this one, but DH and I will try to take as many as we can ourselves. With a $250 alarm repair needed and a $600 AC fix needed (both this week) I just think I shouldn't splurge, especially since I already did for newborn pics and I think I still owe half that!
  • Tomorrow will be a week since I had DD and I am just getting to be in my own home after being discharged last Thursday. We came home and the house felt hot, didn't think much of it since it was super hot that day. Friday the house never cooled down so we call the ac repair guy and he came out sat morning, it was 90 degrees in the house and my parents were out of town so we went and stayed at their house. Saturday morning the guy fixes the problem and it ends up being expensive but not a huge amount, the house starts to cool down so we come home. 2 hours later the ENTIRE UNIT goes out. Tech comes back and literally tells us the entire thing has to be replaced along with part of the indoor unit, all parts stores are closed for the weekend so it will be Monday. FF to Monday tech calls and says $3000. Ouch!! Well we have no choice so we have to pay it.. he replaces it Monday night and gets to the indoor repair when the blower motor and fan on the indoor unit go out.. seriously considering lighting my house on fire at this point and just want to cry. Gets the part and fixed the rest today and the house is finally cool enough I can come home and FINALLY recover/rest in my own bed and home. Except now I feel I have a million things to catch up on and I'm missing DH sooooo much extra right now.

    Vent over***
  • @kbernal2021 that is so frustrating! Sorry you had to deal with that after just having the baby, and by yourself, too! Glad it seems repaired now and hopefully no more troubles ahead!

    Isabella & Julian & and now #3!
  • @kbernal2021 ugh, that's the worst! I'm so sorry you've been dealing with all that, I can't imagine that on top of just having a baby! Glad you're back in your own house!

    @runsomewhere same here!
  • Sorry to start off on a sad note this morning. Over the weekend i mentioned that there was a fatal tragedy on my college campus where i use to work. Turns out I did know the victim and it’s so heartbreaking.

@wildtot I’m so sorry, that is tough. My thoughts are with everyone effected.

Thank you everyone for your advice/experiences. I’m pretty nervous to take this cute baby boy home today while having no idea how DD will react. Hopefully I’ll be able to keep her task-oriented with ways for her to help me with baby, rather than let her get jealous of all the attention he will get. As for going to the bathroom, I guess I’ll be wearing baby lol
  • And846And846 member
@runsomewhere haha! Same boat as you and due end of month! I was jazzed to have car seat bases installed in both our cars and stock up on diapers from target with the coupon going on now.
  • @wildtot I’m so sorry for your loss.

@emsnedds good luck going home and juggling the two! I’ll be in the same boat soon enough and pretty nervous but I figure I’ll just figure it out as I go along.

Happy 4th. I will be working today. Why? Because we have to use “floating holidays” for 4th of July (along with other big holidays like Labor Day) and by working today instead of using a stupid “floating holiday” I can get paid an extra day of maternity leave. So basically I’ll log in soon, send a couple emails, and work on a legal brief for a while. Then going to my dad and step moms later for a bbq, soooo not in the mood to go anywhere or do anything though. I’m a huge grinch today.
  • nimmlenimmle member
Happy 4th all! It is sweltering hot again and I'm not looking forward to going out for a BBQ today. Hopefully people want to hang out indoors.
  • So sorry for your lost @wildtot

Happy 4th of July everyone!! No holiday babies yet today it seems. I was getting used to a new baby every day.

We went to our village parade today which was fun. The kids loved getting the candy that was thrown to the crowd and I enjoyed watching their mad scramble.

    Isabella & Julian & and now #3!
  • Made the terrible decision to take DD to the parade today. It was 97° and miserable. Halfway through I couldn't take it anymore and started the walk back to the house and thought I was going to go into labor. Had a few really intense contractions that made me stop and focus. Unfortunately, they stopped as soon as I got to the AC and chugged cold water. Probably a good idea to pack a hospital bag soon!
  • H got another speeding ticket and with DS and parents in the car. Ugh I’ve told him to slow down and stopped driving like mad man. He didn’t learn his lesson from last time. What did he expect especially on a holiday?! No more tools or projects for him. So over him consuming our money and being irresponsible. In the meantime I’m alone in the hospital trying care for baby and myself.
  • @runsomewhere lol you’re ahead of me. We still haven’t installed the car seat  :# and I haven’t packed a bag.

@wildtot so sorry for your loss

Feeling pretty productive today! Got something hung on the wall in the nursery, went through hand me downs and organized them, put the stash of diapers and wipes in the closet, cleaned our old sterilite storage drawer thing and organized baby things in it in the nursery closet, and took the seat out of the stroller so the car seat will fit. Overall I’m still behind (see comment above about packing a bag ) but feeling better about where I am. I had to stop earlier bc I overdid it and started to feel weak/shakey and had lots of BH but I’m good now and hope to get some more done this evening!
  • Our car seat is not in either but it is sitting by the door. I took DS to the pool today and now I am exhausted and my belly feels heavy. Besides some laundry, I think I will skip chores today.
  • @wildtot I'm so sorry for your loss. But also such a big congrats on the precious baby <3

I usually love going all out for the 4th but I was so tired this morning and anxious about getting stuff done. Plus DD had a tiny bit of a fever last night again. We all slept in late then had a slow breakfast at home so we missed our local parade. Oh well.

I wanted to stay home to work on prepping for baby, DH wanted to take DD out for some fresh air and fun. He ended up taking her to the zoo which I'm not sure is the best thing considering the recent fevers but he text me pictures and the joy on her little face the best.

I'm washing rock n play inserts and carriers, packing my new diaper bag, hospital bags and getting some baby toys cleaned.
