Sitting in the french bakery down the street from my apartment eating a chocolate croissant, drinking a small coffee and getting some work done. Soooo much better than commuting to my apartment.
Hope everyone is managing in the heat. I think we overdid it this weekend. Ended up heading to the hospital with a persistent headache last night. I felt so lame going to the hospital for a headache, but they said to come in and it was for baby's health. Got hooked up to the monitors and had a little bit of high blood pressure. Ended up getting an iv for fluids. Lesson learned, it is always okay to call and ask if you should come in. Everyone stay cool!
@nimmle enjoy! I’ve been wanting a chocolate croissant for a while.
Well we’ve been pretty busy cleaning since yesterday. Getting our carpets cleaned in the next hour and most of the house has been dusted and cleaned. Got lots of laundry to fold though. Getting waxed today and getting our water pipes checked today. Aside from our water main and sump pump, one of our sprinklers make a weird noise. H and I have two full days to ourselves which is nice but still had to wake early to drop of DS because routine.
@wildtot Getting the carpets and pipes done today must feel like such a relief. Every time our house gets a little cleaner, I feel like something got accomplished and one less thing to worry about. The wax will definitely be awesome! Just getting my eyebrows done the other day, I felt like a whole new human.
@julybabybear Ugh, I'm so sorry you had so much trouble with the heat, but I'm glad it wasn't too bad. I really felt it yesterday when we went out to run errands. By the time we hit our fourth store it was way too hot even in the store I started getting lightheaded and had to sit down. My hubby blames himself for pushing me too hard even after my protesting I didn't want to take any extra unnecessary stops. Man has to learn.
@wildtot Wow looks like you are getting a lot of stuff done today! Hopefully they don't take too long and you can stay out of the heat.
@julybabybear glad you got checked out and things turned out ok! Sounds like the heat his getting a lot of us right now. Seriously hoping all this cleaning will take away some of the anxiety I’ve been having with lack of feelings prepared.
@wildtot yay for a clean house. We cleaned yesterday for my in laws and its already a disaster again. Oh well. I'm just resigned to it at this point.
I have a to do list a mile long for work and no motivation to do any of it. I have my out of office memo in really good shape and just want this baby to come so my to do list will become someone else's problem. My husband took my son and dog to my mom's today so yay for having the house to myself. Going for more acupuncture at 2 today, then I'll come home and work some more. So nervous for tomorrow' we find out how big the baby is and see what the doctor and midwife think about induction. I am hoping they let me go another week and give this baby a chance to come on his own.
@julybabybear yea the heat in CT was no joke this weekend. I totally overdid it myself this weekend though managed to stay within confines of AC (despite our central air still being broken) - had to drive the hour to IKEA to pick up the toe-kicks and return the IKEA lights (i'll save the rest of that for BF) - heart rate hit 175 while in IKEA - got to rest in the AC car with a giant Sonic lemonade on the way home, but then had to go to home depot to re-pick pendants and look at dishwashers and had another great spike on the HR monitor - got 41 intensity minutes on my garmin from just waddling around and was convinced i was about to drop the kid in the appliance department lol I've mostly given up on cleaning....good news is cabinets go in today and tomorrow so that will clear up a lot of floor space, but I'm not going to bother trying to touch the chaos until counters are in and we're cleared to re-load cabinets - why touch it twice?
Congrats to all the new mamas. @pretzellover I'm shocked by how similar our medical concerns are but how opposite our doctors have approached it. So mad your OB made comments like that to stress you out more! After you've settled in with LO, I would seriously write up your experience on Med Grades or similar. I don't often do that because I know i'm a rare medical problem and not the norm, but if she's that bad speaking to a high risk person, what does she say to non-high risk?
I am SO stabby today!!!! I know hormones and just being this pregnant (38+7) is a huge part of it, but OMG. Huge long rant in the spoiler.
1 - My in-laws came over yesterday, when I didn't want them to, because DH needed his dad's help. Luckily his mom did actually help some this time (DH talked to her), but DD didn't nap at all, and I am just SO over being around people asking me about the baby or how I feel or whatever. 2 - The upstairs A/C went out last night. After we had already put exhausted DD to bed up there. DH spent a couple hours trying to work on it himself, repeatedly came through our bedroom cussing and then was a GIANT dick to me when I asked him if there was anything I could do to help. He apologized this morning but I still want to stab him. We ended up having to carry DD downstairs and she slept in the pack n play in my office. 3 - DH was loud as ** this morning and woke DD at 6:30 am when he was leaving the house. Right after I asked him to be quiet. Thanks for nothing! 4 - My leg/hip pain on my right side is so bad this morning that every step makes me cringe or want to cry. 5 - We have a major pantry moth infestation in our house that is not limited to the pantry. Cleaned out the pantry last weekend and this morning I found them nesting in our frigging file cabinet in my office. Another want to cry moment.
@wildtot so productive! Ive been able to clean so much more with DH home, but still it’s like every time I turn around there’s something else I should do.
@MichelleAG05 I’ve been avoiding people all week, most people have caught on and stopped texting/calling me to ask about the baby. SO done. We had a pantry moth infestation a couple years ago. It’s the absolute worst. I still keep the pheromone traps up in case they decide to come back- for well over a year I would see them pop up when it got warmer out. I hope you’re able to get a handle on it!
DH brought our dog to his parents to watch until we have the baby. I’m a little too happy about it. He barks at absolutely everything. BUT I feel like DH is just jinxing labor and now I’ll definitely go even later (due today). I have an ultrasound and NST scheduled tomorrow to check on LO since I’ll officially be past my due date, unless by some miracle I go into labor today/tonight (LOL)
@MichelleAG05 ugh to all the little random things like pantry moths and AC-although in this heat AC is NOT a little thing! I hope everything gets fixed!
@lindsayleigh1989 I would love a MOTN thread. I'm often up checking for messages from my SIL or just being in pain/hot.
@zande2016 you already did the acupuncture and said you weren't sure it did anything right? Here's hoping round 2 gets things moving, and also that tomorrow's appt doesn't include induction this week!
@gingerbride26 that sounds like so much running around! Glad you at least got relax a little, a giant lemonade sounds amazing.
AC is life changing right now. I am a different human. The portable AC DH picked up from work doesn't work, but is still under warranty, and they think it doesn't sound worth fixing...so if he can get the purchase order info from his office, and then send it back, they will send us a new one for free! It won't help during the heat wave but at least we'll have it for when Bernie is born.
@SmashJam so glad you got some AC! Definitely life changing in this heat. Yes I went on Saturday but it was at a local spa and I got the feeling she’s used to treating people more as a spa service for relaxation. And she’s out of town now. So I googled and found a practice a little further away that seems more medically focused and lots of reviews about labor induction with them so I’m hoping this is more effective.
@lindsayleigh1989 do it! We need some baby threads. When I have an outside baby I will probably start some new threads...feeding and sleeping are probably the two biggest baby topics and could work as monthly threads I think.
@MichelleAG05 OMG no you totally get to be stabby that is all awful HUGS! @acunamatada i'm in the opposite boat with doggy - he was originally going to grandma camp for the construction and baby, but due to timing with his vet appointment and grooming and construction starting early we kept him here and he's my bed rest buddy and although he's probably miserable I'm so happy he's here. He basically got buzzed on Friday and DD freaked the F out when she saw him - we had to convince her he was the same dog :-/ (he's a shih tzu yorkie mix - so when he's shaggy he looks like a puffy over-long teddy bear....then he came home looking like a chihuahua) - by bedtime she was back to being obsessed with her "yayie" again. @SmashJam lemonade has seriously been my #1 craving this pregnancy - hey they told me to not drink straight water and add a little sugar when they were concerned about hypoglycemia so it's really dr's orders ;-) YAY for portable AC...
@julybabybear sorry to hear about your headache. I had a migraine/persistent one yesterday as well and Tylenol wasn’t cutting it. I called the nurses hotline and they said they’ve been getting lots of calls about headaches bc of the weather. If it hadn’t gone away by this morning, I was to go in but it’s gotten a bit better. Stay hydrated and cool!
Thanks ladies. My mom just called me to check on me and I started crying. I think I need a good cry and then some kind of treat. Unfortunately, I have conference calls starting in 5 minutes that run back to back until basically 4:30 today.
I'm getting really anxious about the long to-do list we still have. But of course I'm sitting on my ass bumping instead of tackling said list.
Also, starting to feel like the odd one out with the lack of labor symptoms. I'm a STM but reading about MPs, BH, contractions, lightning, cramping, leaking waters is completely unrelatable to me. Oh well, on the bright side the idea of a schedule induction relieves some of my anxiety about coordinating care for DD when I go in to labor and having my parents rush over.
@runsomewhere I haven’t had much in the way of impending labour symptoms either. I didn’t lose my MP until after my water broke with my twins, and nothing so far with this kid. Mild contractions at night and early morning but barely noticeable really and nothing that keeps me awake. Though she has punched or head butted me in the cervix a few times lately which has lead to some lightning crotch lol
@runsomewhere Don't worry, I'm not really having any labor symptoms outside of the pelvis being insanely sore. Even worse when I have to pee. Other than that I don't have any contractions or anything like that.
@runsomewhere You aren't alone! I'm a STM but also no MP losing, no BH, no weird cramping, nada. Just like the first time. I am leaving for a doctor appointment shortly where I might have my first cervix check so we'll see how that goes. Either way I'm kind of hoping he schedules an induction date today just in case my body is stubborn again.
@runsomewhere I felt like I had a lot of early labor signs a week ago and absolutely nothing since. Which leads me to think that I'll be induced late again (likely due to my LEEP). Which, like you said, actually makes me a little bit relieved because we can plan for who will watch DD, the timing when we go to the hospital, who will be the delivery doc, etc.
Joining the not much in the way of early labor symptoms train, staying true to my pattern. I thought I had some contractions a couple weeks back but its just pelvic pain that wraps around my body, lol, hopefully due to baby getting lower. Yay....I thought this was weird but I have way less BH now then I did at the beginning of third tri! It's so weird. Any weird cramping or twinges I have is almost always poop related, lol.
i don't know if it's the heat or what but sooo much drama at work today... I wish I could just sit back and pop the popcorn but they keep bringing me into the mess and I have to fight my way back out...such a bad day to skip coffee
Thanks guys, helps to know I'm not totally alone. It's silly and I'm "only" 38w1d today but I was feeling like my body just doesn't know how to get this labor thing going!
@gingerbride26 sorry to hear about the work drama and that you're still working. It's not too late to grab that coffee!
I guess I'll try getting the car seat installed. This car seat is totally different than what we used with DD so IDK how complicated it will be. Anyone have a Cybex car seat?
+1 for zero labor symptoms, and I'm due Thursday. Eviction notice posted LO. You can't stay in there forever.
Today is my first day of mat leave, and I'm mostly just doing nothing today. So far that has included not wearing a bra at all, painting my toenails, pretending I'm actually going to write out the stack of thank you cards sitting on my table, and watching random sci-fi shows that have been on my watch list forever. Its been lovely and completely unproductive.
Awww man! I don't know how you guys with broken ACs are doing it! Hopefully they get fixed/replaced soon.
+1 for not many labor signs. But yesterday, when I was getting monitored, it said I was having contractions (I think BH). They just felt like a huge baby stretch to me, more uncomfortable than pain. So maybe there's some signs that I just don't know about. LOL, that would be awesome!
@noideawhatshesdoing I would also like to know how you painting your toenails. That is impressive!
I just got irrationally mad at my H because I came out from putting my son to bed to find he had turned the oven on. No. No we do not use the oven when it is 100 degrees out. We eat cold cereal for dinner before turning the oven on.
I was going to make macaroni and cheese by boiling water on the grill, that's how anti cooking I am right now, lol. We just ended up snacking. @zande2016
@wildtot I really just love the goat GIF at the beginning here!
@SmashJam is it bad that I kinda think the goat thing might feel good? Like a back massage! Sometimes I lie on the couch and let my son climb all over my back because it’s tje closest I can get to a back massage
Nope not bad at all @zande2016! I let little goats jump all over me when I had my hobby farm, but they only made to my back if they escaped my hands and ran down it. Probably would feel pretty good lol.
DS just hit his nose jumping in the couch. Luckily it was the very soft spot before any bone and no bleeding. Of course he won’t let me ice it. He’s got a slight bruise but not bad so far thank goodness! I’m hoping it’s nothing too bad since we can touch it he he doesn’t flinch in pain. Popsicles to the rescue and now he’s back to normal! Glad it wasn’t his teeth. H is mad at me because i “demanded” moving the AC to cool DSs room. It was freaking 86 degrees! He needs it!
@wildtot 86?! yeah I would demand it changed too. Sorry about his nose but popsickles are always awesome!
I am super excited. Bella lost quite a bit of weight in the hospital but my milk has come in and the home visiting nurse said she is gaining awesome! I have been so anxious and worried about my nursing since it was such a struggle with Lily but she is latching really well this time. So happy it isn't nearly as stressful. Also this nurse was a godsend she taught me a latching trick that is amazing and no more painful nipples!
@lindsayleigh1989 share your latching secret!! Lol nursing is going well on my end also but still having some painful latching on the left side. I was treated for thrush and just took the antibiotic yesterday so not yet noticing a difference in that pain but we are nursing right on through it. We also had our first dr visit today for our sweet girl and she gained 3 oz! Which is incredible considering her low birth weight and so many babies lose some of that before gaining. Here's to hoping nursing continues to go smoothly for all the mamas who have already delivered and are nursing, and all the BF mamas to come so very soon!!
So thrilled today after my 36w checkup + growth scan. This whole pregnancy they've been watching baby's head for potential microcephaly (DH and I traveled out of the country at time of conception and they were worried about Zika exposure). The entire time it was measuring in the 1-2%. Today she was up in the 14th % and we're no longer in the high risk category. So beyond relieved!!
