  • @lindsayleigh1989 I feel the same way! Sorry about your peach BTW hehe, summer fruit is delicious and precious!
  • @zombiehoohaa I put one of those puppy training pads under my mattress pad and haven't noticed it making me sweat more. Maybe I have it low enough that my upper body is still getting enough air circulation.
@hillbillywife What you're doing sounds exactly like my brother's POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome). Definitely monitor bp during the episode, plus he has to keep an eye on his heart rate with his apple watch. His cardiologist told him to lie down on his left side and drink a gatorade when he has an episode, since his bp tends to go low. Hope you get it figured out, it took him 3 cardiologists and 2 years to finally get his diagnosis and figure out what was happening
  • Congratulations @TalesOfASocialIntrovert!! I hope your NICU stay is short and uneventful  <3

  • @TalesOfASocialIntrovert Congrats! Hope it's a short NICU stay and a speedy recovery!
  • @TalesOfASocialIntrovert Yay! Congratulations!

@zande2016 Sorry you had such an awful dream. Dont worry yourself too hard. The amount of times my husband has woken up genuinely pissed off at me because of dreams like that is absurd.

@hillbillywife I'm so sorry your not getting any answers. The doctors have been writing me off as well over pretty much the same thing. They like to chalk it up to either sleep deprivation, being pregnant while looking after a toddler, or my favorite, my depression  (they ALWAYS blame depression, ugh). So annoying how they just don't listen. I hope you start feeling better soon, or at least they look into it more. Keep us posted!

Okay, so my 2.5 yo is not at all bratty in personality, but his ridiculously strong will and speech delay are presenting as bratty behavior and I. Cannot. Handle. It. Anymore. I'm done with the judgemental looks from other people, I'm done with researching new techniques only to find I'm reading yet another article literally claiming "it's all your fault" when we've never done anything from their stupid list that promotes the behavior. I am out of patience, out of energy, out of ideas. I have zero confidence in myself but the one thing I felt I was getting right was being a mom, and now I just honestly don't know what to do anymore. Ugh. Sorry for the rant. I just reached my breaking point.

  • @d_marie_23 it isn't your fault. I am fairly convinced there is no reasoning with toddlers at this point

  • I just finished a home appointment with a pelvic floor specialist. Very informative and...interesting! She put some sensors on my perineal area to pick up pelvic floor tone and see what pushing positions would be best for me to prevent tearing is possible. Looks like the only ones that were not good were hands and knees, kneeling, and squatting, which are all positions I am very sure my hospital doesn't even consider! But both sides and even on my back where good and my PF was able to relax completely. She said I have great awareness of my PF and so far she did not see signs of severe diastasis like belly coning - fingers crossed the separation isn't bad.

She also did perineal massage...ugh a bit uncomfortable but soooo interesting to see how you can really release some of the pressure and get the muscles to relax! I don't think DH will be up for doing it EVERY DAY...but we could give it a try a few days per week...not sure but I can see the benefits at least in brining awareness to the area in preparation for labor. I know it's supposed to reduce risk of tearing but realistically I am not going to bank on that.

@d_marie_23 I am so sorry you're feeling like it's your fault, I don't see how it could be, you seem to be aware of the issues and have done a lot to improve them. Please be kind to yourself! I hope your doctors start being a little more compassionate and stop brushing off your symptoms.

@hillbillywife how are things today? Looks like you got some helpful insight on things you could try. Wishing your doctors were a little more receptive!

@TalesOfASocialIntrovert Congratulations!  Fingers crossed for a short NICU stay!!

Trying to get caught up here... we had an interesting start to the week.  I think I had mentioned on a thread last week that my DS4 had been bit by a tiny tick but we removed it before we needed to worry about it (or so we thought).  Sunday I noticed some redness forming at the area of the bite.  Long story short, after an Urgent Care trip Monday night and antibiotic #1, ER trip Tuesday night and antibiotic #2, and finally getting moved to the pediatric wing after being admitted to the hospital, we have a final diagnosis of Lyme and antibiotic #3 (doxycycline).  The darn rash kept growing but didn't present as a bullseye until Wednesday and everyone who saw little man before the attending doctor that diagnosed him was hesitant to call it Lyme because of that (and the fact that the tick wasn't engorged and we don't think it was on him more than 24 hours).  He's on the mend now thankfully.  Very much looking forward to the weekend.

  • @amdftw I don't know if you saw me posting about this, but my 20 month old was diagnosed with Lyme's a couple weeks ago. We never even saw the tick, but he had a fever and then a rash appeared for one day only. It faded by the time we took him to the doctor but the doctor diagnosed him off the photo my mom had taken the day he had it. It didn't even look like a bulls eye to me, but the doctor was positive  that's what it was. He's been on amoxicillin 3 X a day since, for a month, and then they will test him to see if it's still in his system. But I just wanted to say I know how awful and stressful it is, I felt like such a bad mom when I heard the news, but he loves taking his medicine and he is getting back to himself. He is a little more tired than usual but other  than that his other symptoms have faded. The doctor said when you start  treating around the time of the rash, it is really the earliest you can catch it and leads to the best outcome. I hope your soon feels better soon!!

@kissableviv During my labor with DS, one of the nurses gave me a perineal massage. I had only one small first degree labial tear (TMI =] ), and I like to think it was because of her. But who knows!
  • @flockofmoosen3 I think outside of labor I would have felt super awkward about it. But they did it with a warm olive oil solution that felt so flippin' amazing at the time. I'm picturing that happening in my house while not in the throes of labor and I'm feeling very uncomfortable! Go @kissableviv!
  • It was weird but hey I'd rather have a demo if I want to attempt it with DH, LOL! Not too sure about it yet...I can see the benefits. It was also interesting to feel some spots as being way tighter than others! I know, the whole thing was a trip, but I guess I am trying to take pelvic floor health very seriously! XD
  • @flockofmoosen3 the therapist said that technically the uterus does 80% of the pushing but we all know that may not be the case for everyone and it depends on so many factors. So it would makes sense that less pushing means less tearing too. I think it was super valuable for me to see which positions allowed me to completely relax the pelvic floor because now I can at least attempt those first during labor and pushing.
At this point I have all the tools I need to hopefully go for my unmedicated birth but I know things can take a different turn too. I am going to review all the slides from my birth class this weekend and then guess what...I am not going to read anything else and just going to chill until go time!
  • @D_marie_23 My son is almost 3 and is strong willed too. Just keep plugging along and eventually he will get it. The speech delay is probably as frustrating for him too. I get snappy and loose patience with my son too and then feel horrible about it. Everyone knows toddlers are difficult. Take it day by day.
  • This weekend is so busy! I have my SECOND interview for the library tomorrow morning at 9:30am where I will basically run a playgroup and I guess the adults are gonna watch me, which is weird but I've done it before as a teacher, so just trying to remember its not a huge deal. Then, DS's 3rd b-day party is tomorrow at 1pm. I am on batch 2 of cupcakes, I have the pasta salad made, I'm making the slaw here in a minute, I gotta thaw the hamburger so I can make the patties before I leave tomorrow, AND I have to clean the kitchen up after all this cooking! Got the bathroom clean so tomorrow morning/after the interview all that will be left is vacuuming and mopping and some light pick up of clutter that could be hidden better, lol.

DH is building DS a sandbox for his present. Can't wait to see how excited he is, he lost his shit over the big BLUE plastic kiddie pool with fish all over it that we bought for the kiddos that come tomorrow to splash in (its gonna be 88 degrees) and I bought big tubular water squirters for the kids as party favors.

  • @SmashJam wow busy mama! Sounds like fun though and cupcakes sound really good right now lol. Good luck with the interview!!
  • @acunamatada that’s terrifying!!! Kids say the craziest things!!!

My work threw me a surprise shower today! And had my husband there! I was completely shocked. It was so nice. I’m excited to get home and look at everything everyone got for baby boy.  :)
My job threw me a work shower today too!!!
  • @hillbillywife +1 for thinking of POTS. I’ve been suspecting I have it for a long time and cardio tested me for it after my black out last week. So far cardio is still dismissive of my issues being cardio - they keep seeing my high hr (110s sitting in bed all day with random spikes to 130, spikes over 150 walking around) and I’ve been getting periodic high-normal but high for me bp this whole hospital stay. (Yup still here, still no idea when i’m Coming home). The ekg and monitoring show it’s fast but a normal beat pattern.  Cardio keeps saying yea fast hr happens with pregnancy and drink more water, add salt/electrolytes, and be less active while pregnant. Feel free to pm me about tests etc since we’re in similar places. Feel better.

  • @emsnedds i get so many hiccups especially at night as I’m trying to fall asleep. Not too cute at that time lol
  • emsnedemsned member
@wildtot lol you’re right, that probably isn’t fun. I have mostly only had the baby hiccup during the day though. On the bright side, hiccups are another sign that baby is okay even though movement may be slowing down
  • @emsnedds I'm with you on the baby kicks. Not cute. Super painful. H doesn't want me to drive anymore because of how I react to them.
  • I still haven't felt hiccups this pregnancy and I am at 35 weeks :( tbh it was one of my favorite things about being pregnant with my first, because as creepy as it sounds, when my daughter hiccups now, I can almost feel it inside of me. I know it sounds weird, but it's true
  • @cseley321 I haven’t really felt any this pregnancy either! Maybe a little bit a few months ago and really nothing since. It’s odd because I felt my first hiccup constantly.

My son took a 2 hour nap today, and I got to take one too! I slept for almost 2 hours since I passed out as soon as he was down. The bad news is we went out to do errands and he was a nightmare so we had to cut it short and now I don’t know how/if grocery shopping is going to Happen. I mean I guess we can just have scrambled eggs for dinner...
  • @gingerbride26 it’s hard to be less active than nearly inactive lol. Idk how I missed that you’ve been in the hospital! Hope you’re ok! I had a small episode around lunch time and had some high readings. The on call OB said it was probably my machine (eye roll- what about the other readings I had that were perfectly fine?) anyways OB had me come into L&D for monitoring. I’ll keep you guys posted. I’ll also have to do some research on POTS.
