Re: Weekday Randoms 6/4

  • @flockofmoosen3 I’d assume the midwife would stitch up the tear, I’m giving birth with a midwife and if I were delivering in the birth center (I’m not since I was risked out), there would be no one else there to do it, so I assume it’s going to be no different in the hospital and would expect my midwife to do any stitches.

And I’m sorry, but wtf to lotus births. I just don’t get it.

  • I'm really digging everything bagels lately and there's an Einstein Bagels in the same parking lot as DD's school.  Yum!

With DD I remember them saying my cervix was very high - it was painful to get the checks because they had to push so much.  This one is the exact opposite and it hasn't hurt at all.  Cramping yesterday wasn't too bad either. We'll do GBS, blood work, and a growth check next week at 36 weeks, plus my normal NST.  My doctor actually recommended having DH come and bring DD - she's going to let her "help" (put her hand on the ultrasound wand) to look at the baby.  I love my doctor so much!!!
  • Ugh... Will be out of work another day with this sinus infection.  Got antibiotics yesterday and I feel like I might be improving a bit (at least, I made it the 6 hours between Tylenol doses this time without crying from the pain).  This has been so miserable and I haven't slept in like 48 hours (maybe an hour or two here and there).  Really hoping today will be all about catching up on sleep..
  • @runsomewhere I don’t get it either but it seems to be kind of a heated discussion between parties lol.

@runsomewhere I think people say 10 months when they are thinking in terms of using 4 weeks as a month rather than a calendar month. 40 weeks / 4 weeks per month = 10 months. For calendar months it's roughly 9 months.

    Edit: words
  • @kissableviv I'm glad you had a great time, the gifts sound adorable. Also I immediately thought omg no don't cut you hair! Your hair is so pretty!!!

Regarding pregnancy being 40 weeks, the logic seems even more silly now, there aren't 28 days in each month. I've heard women firmly say "it's actually 10 months" and I've always been like umm no?

  • @kissableviv i actually got it cut the day before the session. It was just way to long and heavy to do anything with it. But there i was battling with my long bangs lol. If i had to change something about my outfit it would be my shirt to be more tight fitting from the lower belly. I’m sure you’ll look great tho and have fun!

    @kissableviv how sweet!
@KatyF0813 ugh that sounds miserable, hope you can catch up on some sleep and the meds do their job. Can you take Benadryl with everything else you’re taking? Might knock you out enough to recharge even just a little.

I had to bring DS to my appt today and he was a freaking angel. Chatting it up with the nurses about his motorcycle shirt and “helping” with the heartbeat.
Got a cervix check, she did ask if I wanted one after all- I’m only 1cm and still long, but I didn’t expect much at 36 weeks. Now I’m extra crampy, I almost wish I didn’t get it at all. On the plus side, the MW thinks she’s still head down!
Can anyone distinguish between arm and leg movements? I think LO moves her arms over her face a lot down low, but I also could have sworn I got a full blown cervix kick last night.
  • @runsomewhere I'll keep it long for sure, I just need to cut off 3 inches instead of my usual 1/2, lol. It's just heavy like @wildtot 's and I suck at doing fun things with my hair so it's a little bit of a waste!

I always pause when they ask me about how many months I am. I say...35 weeks? LOL
  • My provider for disability is such a pain. They won’t grant me the full 8 wks for my c section yet until i have delivered. Even if the doctor gives them written confirmation. I have to literally call them after delivering to tell them. Like seriously?! Let’s hope i remember. If only i can call them while on the operating table see if that’s enough confirmation. They better not screw with my benefits! Sorry minor rage.
  • I've been a pretty grumpy, useless, PITA, airhead with work lately, and my team in LA has been super sweet about it all. Thinking I want to send some sort of "Sorry I've been a pregnant nightmare" treat basket down to them, but I'm not sure what to send. Anyone else ever send a "sorry I've been a crazy bitch" basket to anyone before? Is that a thing? I think it should be a thing.

  • +1 to the "pregnancy is 9 months" party. Math and the calendar both agree that it's 9 months, and even that starts the ticker before you're pregnant.

Just got back from my growth scan and I'm trying not to psych myself out. Ziggy is 13th percentile. He's grown, which is good, but he's just so bitty. I'm sure it will be fine, it just freaks me out and this "small baby" thing is really foreign to me. I mean, I'd be happy not to deliver another 9 pounder, but he's so small and I can't help but feel like it's my fault somehow.

  • @noideawhatshesdoing I am also a huge grumpy mess, but I somehow don't feel bad about it at all, I guess I feel like my grumpiness towards everyone at work is justified lol.

Re weeks vs months, some people get really heated about it! At this point I am going with "I'm 8 months pregnant" whether it's true or not because that usually drives the point home that I am huge, exhausted, hot, and miserable. I guess at 35 weeks I really am 8 months pregnant? IDK, math is not my strong suit.

Sooo I have a client legit harassing me today. She's called 5 times, every 30ish mins for the past few hours, demanding to speak to me. I literally spoke to her yesterday and told her I had to speak to someone and get back to her - that someone is my boss, who is impossible to speak to because she's never at work and if you try calling her, she gives you an attitude and tells you how busy she is. So I have to wait for her to call into the office to speak to her. I know she's supposed to call in soon, so there's no point in me picking up with this client when I don't have an answer for her. Well apparently that's not good enough for her, she just keeps calling. I told the staff to tell her I was out to lunch, just to piss her off even more, even though I never take a lunch. I really am a grumpy miserable person lol. But to be fair, she is not really my client anymore because we finished her current case and when we tried to speak to her about next year's case, she blew us off completely and lied about it, and now that  time is getting close to need to start next year's case, suddenly she's harassing me to speak to her. Fine, you want me to send you a $60 bill for having a 10 minute phone conversation with you? Because if you keep harassing me, that's exactly what you're going to get. And in those 10 minutes I will simply tell you "I STILL DON'T HAVE AN ANSWER FOR YOU." Twat.
  • @d_marie_23 a friend of mine had one average baby and her second baby was just tiny. She looked like she was 20 weeks pregnant when she was 8 months pregnant. I’d try not to worry too much, as long as the doctor isn’t concerned. And that’s great that she has been growing! Is your doctor planning to monitor you more often?
  • @d_marie_23 you're not doing anything wrong! Every baby/pregnancy is different. As long as they're monitoring growth and the doctor doesn't think there are any issues with the placenta or anything, then maybe this kid is just a more petite person than your first. Also don't forget the ultrasound can be off, the baby could actually be a pound heavier, which is a big difference for percentiles.
  • @zande2016 I so feel you. I have been dealing with a client's parents harassing me for court support which is not something I do and ugh it is so frustrating!!

  • @lindsayleigh1989 ugh so frustrating. It's also this sense of entitlement people have, like they are somehow entitled to your professional services. No, that's not how this works.
  • NST and growth US looked great today and the little dude was kicking like crazy! Plus, despite my fundal height measuring large, he's measuring in the 52nd percentile so who knows how big he's actually going to be. Glad to hear he didn't shoot way beyond last months percentile as T1 has been much more difficult to control this pregnancy.
  • @d_marie_23 it’s so not your fault! Go with your gut, I’m sure all is fine- especially if your doctor isn’t worried! You’ll just have a little peanut to snuggle. Also, his name is amazing!

@noideawhatshesdoing I don’t like my coworkers enough to send them a treat basket- but that’s awesome lol
  • @d_marie_23 I've had those thoughts the whole pregnancy and everyone keeps telling me how small I look! Baby was in a lower percentile last time I check I think he is in the 30% but I am actually really glad he is small as long as he is healthy! It's my first so I feel like it may be a little easier on the delivery, although all sorts of things can happen regardless of size. Not your fault at all!

@TalesOfASocialIntrovert hurrah for a good scan! I have my NST in 2.5 hrs. Work is sooo slow today so I can actually pretend I am working without feeling behind. Yay!
  • @acunamatada I agree with you on @d_marie_23's name, I am really regretting that we wasted that name on our stupid dog 3 years ago  (kinda sort kidding, we love our dog, but still)
  • Thanks for the reassurance, guys. I have so much paranoia surrounding it so all the positivity was so extremely appreciated. Gosh, it's crazy how much I feel like a FTM pregnancy wise with this guy.
Oh, and thanks for the name love! It's a total hit or miss with people, so it makes me so happy when it's on the hit side of things :)

  • I am bumping and paying invoices all while watching HP and the Half Blood Prince. Not a bad afternoon! Also heard some Italian aunts gave my mom some $$ so it's time to start an Amazon order with all the save for later items, LOL!
  • @zande2016 I think any grumpiness you have at work is totally justified just knowing the bits you've shared with us! So don't feel bad at all about it!

@acunamatada I've had jobs too where I didn't like my co-workers very much. I'm just lucky where I'm at now and really like my co-workers.

Everyone here is genuinely nice. Plus I work remote from my team, a whole state away so they can't see me when I flip the computer the bird or roll my eyes. I find there is a huge amount of emotional freedom in that. If I had to be in the office all the time, who knows! Just because I like them and they are all nice, doesn't mean there aren't a couple morons in the bunch. LOL.  I'm in a bit of a leadership roll in my position though and it's the folks that have to jump when I say that I feel a little sorry for having to deal with me. They would totally be within their rights to tell me to take a hike, but they don't, even when I know I've been really hard on them.

I was thinking sending something from here, but Portland is the land of beer, and I'm not sure that's exactly the most work appropriate thing to send down! Or maybe it is.  :D
  • @noideawhatshesdoing my local fb mom group has a post every end of school year asking if it’s ok to send a bottle of wine in to their kid’s teacher SO if people think it’s ok to send alcohol to an elementary school then I’d say it’s cool to send beer to your coworkers lol.
  • @noideawhatshesdoing one of my employees got me a bottle of prosecco for christmas - granted he didn't know I was pregnant at the time and did the exchange in the parking lot since alcohol is prohibitted on premises lol Edible arrangements-esque items or sharri's berrie's are often appreciated too and less contraband ;-)

  • @noideawhatshesdoing I’d say depending on your type of position and your company, beer is fair game. But I also agree with @gingerbride26 suggestion of edible arrangements or Sherri’s berries- people love unexpected snacks!
  • @noideawhatshesdoing you can never go wrong with treats! I think you mentioned the office is in LA. I haven’t tried them but heard there are now donut bouquets. They look fun and tasty! https://donutprincessla.com/donut-bouquet/
  • Started season 2 of the handmaid's tale. Freaking love this show but it's so much harder to watch this pregnant. 10 minutes into it and I'm already anxious.

For those watching, I can't wait until someone, anyone, F's Aunt Lydia up. That woman is just awful.
  • @kissableviv I’ve been wanting to start that show! I may have to give it a try this weekend.
  • @kissableviv the first few episodes are really dark, but it gets better! Aunt Lydia needs to gooooooooo.. Slowly and painfully.
  • @acunamatada and @kissableviv DH and I watched the latest episode on Wednesday. I wish I could say anything about it but if I do I think it spoils it. It just gave me "the feels" at the end, but I won't say which kind of feels haha!

The whole concept of the show is very interesting and frustrating at the same time. It's strange how much Serena supported this new world and helped create it but it meant sacrificing everything she was as a person. I still can't tell if she is actually ever happy or not.

    Isabella & Julian & and now #3!
  • @flockofmoosen3 ahh we have been watching them as they come out every Wednesday, but missed this week because of my H working late. It looks like we won't get to watch until tomorrow and I'm dyinggggg, must know what happens next lol. It's definitely a dark show but I love it.
