@gingerbride26 I mean I guess there's not much difference between birthing in a hotel vs. birthing at home, EXCEPT the cleanliness factor...you just never know what germs are left behind in a hotel room from random people from all over the place. So IF a hotel is on board with it, and IF the midwife makes sure the room is disinfected, I don't really have a problem with it since I do support home birth, but I think at the point they knew there was meconium, they should have transferred to the hospital, as in any home birth situation.
Pretty sure baby flipped breech again, guess I’ll find out tomorrow morning for sure. She’s SO active, I wish she’d pick a spot! Also, I think I can feel her practice breathing, it’s rhythmic and faint, not hiccups or kicks. Very weird.
@cseley321 is she sentimental at all? What about a digitial photo frame or a nice one that says "Grandmother" or whatever she wants to be called at the top? We did digital photo frames for Christmas for MIL and my father one year and both really enjoyed it @zande2016 I would agree if the mw was there first to clean...but she just jumped right in that tub before MW got there and at least in my home it's MY germs/fluids... There was another one I read where the MW brought her own blow up birthtub so in that case, yes it would be no different than a home birth. @acunamatada I'm kind of feeling the same way... belly completely changed shape again and he's way more active again so I think he wiggled back to his favorite position...guess we'll see at the growth scan this afternoon!
... but I think at the point they knew there was meconium, they should have transferred to the hospital, as in any home birth situation.
THANK YOU. As someone who went through the meconium ordeal, I agree 100%. It's more than terrifying when the first time you see your baby is when they're not not crying and surrounded by specialty nurses and tubes, and that's in a HOSPITAL where NICU and x-rays are immediately available. WTF was the midwife thinking?
@d_marie_23 seriously! Same here, I did not have any meconium issues but for whatever reason I had the same experience when my son was born, they put him on my chest and quickly realized he was not breathing or crying, and they had to whisk him away to get him breathing - that was terrifying enough that I wouldn't be taking any chances if I knew meconium was present.
WTF to this birth story, sorry, the meconium part is crazy and tbh I find it a bit weird to give birth in a hotel , what if you damage/stain stuff, ew. Plus, germs!
I received a random box of formula from Enfamil, not sure if it was part of one of the welcome boxes but they send me coupons all the time. I'm saving them all in case I will need to supplement or even FF, and plan on giving all away to a mom in my DH's company mom group who was looking for coupons.
Today is my birthday! I should have taken the day off. Birthdays on a Wednesday are not that great. But, I'll try to leave early and go for a mani pedi and then DH is taking me to dinner. He said he is making me breakfast but all I want right now is cereal, lol.
@kissableviv happy birthday!! definitely leave early for some pampering time. Also, same here on the Enfamil, I randomly got a sample box yesterday and am perplexed about how they knew I was pregnant/got my info. Same thing happened with my son, and they somehow got my email address too and knew my due date and everything! It was kind of creepy. My suspicion is the baby registry sells your info...I'll be donating mine to the community center since I don't plan on using it.
Well I had an OB appointment today and my BP was up again (148/80). Not super high but high for me. My doctor didn’t seem too concerned bc i don’t have any swelling or headaches and I had a high reading at 30 weeks and then a normal reading a week later at 3. I can’t help but worry now though and wonder if I’m doing something to cause these high BP readings
@kissableviv happy birthday!! I also got that box of formula samples (enfamil and similac). I like holding on to the samples should i ever decide to FF and run out of our usual. It really saved us with DS when i would run out mid night. Idk if the coupons are transferable but I’m checking to see if someone in the neighborhood would need them.

That was such a crazy birth story! I would be afraid of giving birth in the hotel room because of extra fees if there were stains or something that wouldn't go away. Or if I got extra loud and someone came running in and realized I was giving birth and somehow that like, wasn't allowed or would give us extra charges. Maybe that's being paranoid, sounded like they were mostly in the tub.
@acunamatada I have noticed what I'm pretty sure is the practice breathing, but I can see it, not really feel it. Like my belly goes up and down really fast but I don't feel any poking or anything, I can just see the movement.
DS transfered from the car to the bed for naptime today! That almost never happens. Spending hours in the woods tires a nugget out I guess!
My nonstress test was normal, thank goodness! When I was speaking with my OB, she pointed out when I had a contraction (and I had just one), and she asked if I felt it. I did, but I was surprised--it felt so much like the baby moving! Makes me wonder if I'll be able to tell the real thing if they come before my scheduled c-section.
Ugh, I think I will avoid the hotel meconium birth story for now (my nausea for this pregnancy has never completely gone away).
@cseley321 What about a plant, flower or pretty bush for her yard (if she has a yard?) Something that will come back every year that will remind her of her grandchild?
Does she like sweets? What about a specialty cake or edible arrangements?
You ladies are the best!love all the pictures and gifs, all on point (@runsomewhere, loved the Italian one too!!). In laws sent me flowers and chocolates. I think it's been years since I got an actual flower delivery!
Sorry about the BP reading @ashbub714 I hope it's just a one off but always good to keep it under control. @SmashJam I wish I could spend the day playing in the woods! @sm05-2 I also have no idea about contractions, ob didn't bring it up so I'm guessing I have not had anything while hooked to the monitor.
Started the red raspberry leaf tea. Making a big mason jar in the morning and drinking it through the day.
Agreed that it's so weird to get this Enfamil stuff I'm pretty sure in my case it was motherhood who shared the info because I signed up to their "rewards" or whatever program and I did get a bunch of emails from some of their affiliates, so annoying but I guess this could actually be useful for me or another mom.
Add me to the Enfamil list. I just stuck it up in our closet - once I ensure that we have breastfeeding well established I'll donate it. PSA - not all food pantries accept baby formula, so make sure you check before randomly dropping it somewhere!
Just got home from my doc visit. My NST was fine, although I was hooked up to the machine for almost 45 minutes. The temp nurse forgot to turn on the recording feature - dope! My doc (who notoriously last pregnancy wouldn't talk about stations or dilation and talked about going all the way the whole time) did another cervix check today at 35 weeks and said she doesn't think I'm going to make it to my due date.
So I'm way behind the ball, but I JUST figured out who from HR I need to talk to discuss leave and FMLA and get that all lined up. I have my discussion this afternoon! Hoping they aren't upset its last minute, but I definitely tried earlier. For a large company we sure our lacking in communication and structure... I also just found a place to pump in the office when I get back and someone has curtains coming. It's not even a door that latches, so no lock but hopefully the curtains combined with a sign will be enough to keep anyone out. The room does have a docking station and monitors so I'm just glad I will be able to keep working (if needed).

Ugh, just read the April hotel birth story. Gross, what an unsanitary place to plan to give birth in. And just too risky with the meconium situation for me. Also, I'm confused, what did she mean by in-between homes? Were they living in their car or something while waiting to move? Seems like if you're planning on a home birth, you should plan to be in your home, not a hotel. Just weird to me, but to each their own I guess!
@lindsayleigh1989 good luck today! @kissableviv that is exactly the same way I do the rrl tea! I make it early and throw it in the freezer door and hopefully its nice and chilly by noon when I bust it out.
It’s my birthday too!!!! I also did not take off of work, I should have because I didn’t get much accomplished but my main boss called in sick. So I’m considering that a huge birthday win!! Going out to a low key dinner with my hubby tonight and deciding between Italian food or just a hot fudge sundae place lol
We are going for Italian food, obvi. Last night around 10pm I randomly said I wanted tiramisu and it's all I've been thinking about all day! I even had a light healthy lunch to prep my appetite for tonight!
also unrelated but I was lurking WTE and there is a woman whose husband used to sleep with his stepsister and the MIL is refusing to come to their baby shower if step sister isn't invited. All I want to know is did he sleep with step sister before or after their parents married...
Just left the doctor. 36 weeks, dilated 1cm and she is head down and low in my pelvis. I know this means pretty much nothing but it's still nice to hear there is some progress. I'm pretty miserable. Lol.
