Re: Weekday Randoms 6/4

  • @foxbaby2016 I'm scheduled for June 26th. Basically if I go into labor or start to have trackable contractions I have to go in and they will have the c section early. As long as I am in the early labor stages it's pretty risk free to do a c section but if I get too far it can be more risky.

  • @runsomewhere I know, I am with you BUT I am still a 5 min drive from the bay so I can still go. And I'm telling myself that when we actually buy a house we will be able to buy it where we actually want to be and have all those boxes checked because we have been smart with money now. Plus my parents' Airbnb has an adorable front yard and is in that same neighborhood so it will be nice to spend time there in August!

And I just told the same thing about Kate Spade to a friend. All these seemingly blessed lives lost because of mental health issues...it's really sad and it makes you realize money and success really can't buy health.
  • @lindsayleigh1989 I have had a few cervical checks so far (whenever my NST shows I’m contracting my OB likes to check to make sure it’s not associated with any cervical change) and she told me it’s totally normal to spot after and not to worry. I haven’t actually spotted after the checks but was glad she said something so I wouldn’t freak out if I did.
  • @carsonraynee Your induction sounds similar to mine with DD. I didn't have pre-e (though it was suspected to be developing, hence the induction) but had cervidil and a completely closed cervix and labored on Pitocin for 36 hours before finally have a c section. Glad to hear he's doing well and you're able to stay close to the hospital and see him so frequently!!

My random today is totally more of a BF. I had my first NST for the week today (second is Thursday), as well as GBS testing and cervical check. First of all, the monitor at my regular OB never picks up my contractions. I tightened the belt today bc the nurse puts in on so loose but it still didn't read. I feel like it's just broken at this point. Second, despite contractions lasting 2 minutes (with a few 4-5 minute ones thrown in for fun:angry:) occurring every 3-5 minutes EVERY. DAMN. DAY. my cervix is completely unchanged. Like, zero things are happening. Andplusalso, I'm measuring 38-39 weeks (although I know full well that fundal height is somewhat inaccurate). I'm just so mad that I'm so effing uncomfortable and it's all for nothing!! And since I've had 3 reactive NSTs in the last 2 weeks, I'm pretty sure I can't go for long walks and do other things to increase contractions. I'm just so done :|

@lindsayleigh1989 I had pretty bad spotting after every cervical check with my DS.  My doctor indicated it is normal.  In anticipation of that I will be working from home when I have appointments starting at week 36 (which is in 3 weeks for me).

  • @lindsayleigh1989 I had to double take for a second when it said June and then I realized your due date must be early July and you will LEGIT HAVE  A BABY IN THREE WEEKS. So crazy. I'm so excited for everyone who's little's are here and doing well or are so close!

Congratulations @carsonraynee! Jonas is adorable and you’re totally superwoman for going through multiple induction attempts and the a c-section. May you and son and partner all go home happy and well soon!

@lindsayleigh1989 I had a little bright red spotting last week after a cervical check last week, was assured it was normal as long as I wasn’t bleeding enough to fill a pad or just have more bleeding.
  • @TalesOfASocialIntrovert how frustrating! Earlier in third tri i kept telling them I was having some contractions but then even though they would show up on the monitor (but with no pattern) they told me the number of intensity didn’t matter much and just brushed it off. Certainly makes it feel a bit less validated regardless of what your experiencing. Hope your body kicks into gear when it’s really time!!
  • @wildtot I have a repeat c section scheduled in 2 weeks so it's unlikely that I'll deliver VBAC. I was hoping with all these contractions that I could attempt it but am okay with a c section. I'm just really irritated and disappointed that I'm going through what feel like all the [painful] motions of labor but will be denied the experience again :/
  • @TalesOfASocialIntrovert boo I'm sorry your body is a tease. But yeah to two weeks until babe!
  • @TalesOfASocialIntrovert can you have sex to try to move things along, or is that off the table too?
  • @carsonraynee congratulations!! Thanks for sharing your story!

    Isabella & Julian & and now #3!
  • @zande2016 No idea! I plan to ask the MFM on Thursday. Also, sex sounds terrible at this stage :# And I was thinking earlier that sex during contractions sounds even worse. Also not sure if I could convince DH I am even in the mood :*
  • @TalesOfASocialIntrovert I hear ya! I plan to start trying to have sex regularly pretty soon (it’s been extremely irregular lately) but this pressure and lightening crotch is deterring me.
I still say the turkey baster method is worth a shot
  • I was feeling a little off today and by 330 I decided to call my doctor. They had me go to L&D and I was having lots of contractions, they pushed fluids and checked my cervix and I'm 1cm dilated. They couldn't get the contractions to stop but since nothing was happening they sent me home, after a steroid shot to help baby's lungs. Hopefully little man continues cooking for a while longer, I have DS bday party next weekend. I think I'm going to skip work tomorrow and just rest.
  • @carsonraynee congrats! that's perseverance holding out 3 days!!
    @zande2016 glad it went well
@kissableviv yea...every time i'm pregnant my husband tries to move us 1300 miles across the country - must be man nesting
    @lindsayleigh1989 That's my birthday :-D
@TalesOfASocialIntrovert yea i did that with DD for solid 4 weeks before induction at 41 weeks :-/ sooo annoying. I swear this is why I don't ever really know when I'm having contractions...I taught myself to ignore them for 4 weeks because I never went past a 2 despite constant contractions, 3 mile daily walks, hours on the yoga ball, daily sex, spicy food, pound of pineapple, that special tea, massage, and pedicure.  Mine did show up on my OB's machine and they would get all excited...but nope cervix didn't do jack until 3 hours into a 12 hour cervadil where it made up for lost time. You can do it for 2 more weeks! Distraction and relaxation.

  • Ugh. .. I called out sick Tuesday because I felt a little off, hadn't slept well in days and was worried about a sinus infection due to pressure under my right eye. The pain kind of came and went but by bedtime time I was pretty miserable. Now it's nearly 1am and I am in SO MUCH PAIN. my sinuses hurt but the pain is in my mouth now also.  My whole top right jaw hurts (to the point that it feels like my teeth are going to fall out) and my jaw hurts if I try to open my mouth. Tylenol hasnt helped at all and I can't sleep from the pain. I just want it to be morning so that I can get in with my doctor and find out what's going on and hopefully get some relief...  Whaa Whaa
  • @KatyF0813 that sounds miserable! I hope you figure out what it is! @owl_momma hopefully LO stays in there a little longer to cook!
  • sm05-2sm05-2 member
@owl_momma I hope the baby chills and that your contractions do, too, and the immediate days ahead are uneventful.

@KatyF0813 that sounds awful, I hope you get relief soon!

on my way to my third nonstress test. They’ve been uneventful so far, hope this one is, too.
  • @KatyF0813 ugh mouth pain is no joke! I hope you get some relief!

I’m extra whiney this morning.. Slept like crap. Every time I turn over I hear pops and cracks in my lower back and hips, not even the satisfying kind. I feel 90yo.
Thank god DS woke up in an amazing mood. He actually thanked me unprompted for changing his poopy diaper and getting his breakfast- with NO fight when I told him he couldn’t eat crackers and ramen for breakfast.
  • @KatyF0813 how awful there is not much worse than mouth/tooth pain. I had terrible tooth pain right before a vacation last summer and I went to the dentist and it turned out it was my sinuses, but at least allergy pills are cheaper than a root canal lol good luck I hope you get some relief soon!
  • @KatyF0813 @owl_momma my husband’s teeth always hurt when he has really bad sinus issues. I usually push on some pressure points in his eyebrows to relieve some sinus pressure. Worth looking into if you’re still uncomfortable!
  • @KatyF0813 if you think it's your sinuses (Which it sounds like to me), try a neti pot! I was coming down with a sinus infection after a horrible week of the flu back in April, and I did the neti pot since there's not much you can take pregnant, and it cleared up within a few days with no need for antibiotics. I know the concept is kinda gross but it's really not so bad and the relief is worth it.
  • My company threw me a shower on Sunday. I already brought wine and beer plus a thank you note to the party for my office manager and his wife who hosted at their home. I am leaning towards bringing in breakfast to the office rather than writing individual thank you notes. But then again some people were extra generous and spent $50.  I also have a couple of boxes of wipes and diapers without a card. I could write more generic thank yous to the people who attended and not specify if the thanks is for diapers vs wipes? I don’t want to come off I ungrateful.
  • @owl_momma FX for you
@KatyF0813 +1 that it sounds like sinuses.  Try the netti pot like @zande2016 just make sure you use distilled/boiled water and keep your mouth open while you do it. Also hot showers, sinus tapping to flush (there's supposed to be a miracle spot on your forehead), flonase, or just call the doc and take the antibiotics - which is what I usually do
@chaser61 I think breakfast sounds lovely, you can have specific conversations with the extra generous people but thanking in person is as acceptable as thank you notes to me - and I was raised by a miss manners/martha stewart nazi.

Anyone read the birth story in a hotel in the April board??

  • @chaser61 my office threw me a shower a few weeks ago and some people gave gifts and some people donated to a gift card but literally everyone signed the one card that the gift card was in so I wasn't entirely sure if everyone chipped in on the gift card or only the people who didn't bring an actual gift.  I just wrote on the ones that I didn't know a specific gift, thank you for your generous gift and for celebrating my newest addition.
But if all else fails everyone loves free breakfast!
  • @gingerbride26 the “home birth” in a hotel with meconium?! Sounds safe to me!

  • @gingerbride26 I just found the thread and holy WTF. Not one part of that birth story sounds appealing or safe!!! When she said, "so I hopped into the tub", all I could think of were all the super poorly cleaned hotel bathrooms I've seen. Then "oh, there's meconium. Oh well, let's keep going!!" :astonished:
  • I just wonder if the hotel had any idea that she was checking in to give birth in their room? I figure they must not have known, or they wouldn't have allowed it...? Also really weird that a midwife was on board with that, at the very least you'd think the midwife would insist on cleaning the tub and changing bed sheets etc themselves to make sure all was clean, similar to how I imagine they'd clean/disinfect a birthing suite to make sure nothing gross is leftover from the prior occupant. But yeah the icing on the cake is definitely the meconium...
  • I need some advice! My mom and sister are hosting a sprinkle. I am trying to think of hostess gifts for my mom.. she is very "tomboyish." She doesn't drink, doesn't do spas, massages, etc. She doesn't carry a purse. Her main source of entertainment lately seems to be going to casinos, but she gets free rooms all the time, so not much I can do there. Usually on her birthday or Christmas she asks for something like sneakers, which isn't much of a hostess gift. Any ideas are welcome!
  • @zande2016 yea i'm doubting they knew - someone asked but OP didn't come back to answer.  Agreed wtf was the midwife on board for this...but then again the midwife saw the meconium and thought it was no big deal...
i googled it and apparently this is a thing that some people do who are 100% against hospital but too far from practice to qualify for home birth... I understand getting a hotel for around your due date to be closer to hosptial/birthing center/mw especially in winter months when driving may be difficult or if you live hours away...

  • @gingerbride26 I have been going to people’s offices and personally thanked them, so that makes me feel better. Thanks @owl_momma!

@cseley321 Is your mom local? Can you take her out for a thank you lunch or brunch?
  • @gingerbride26 that is just so much NOPE!!
