Sounds like good news! Have other people in either of your families had tiny babies? The woman that works at my son's daycare gave birth to a 4 pound baby and he was full term. He's about 5 months old now and very healthy and growing well!
Well, I was a military baby so my Mom never had any ultrasounds but I was full term (39w 4days) and I was only 6 lbs. and it turns out my in laws actually took my husband to the Dr when he was an infant because they were worried he was too small. So we aren’t really big people to begin with lol. But being in Miami is a blessing and a curse, because our healthcare is honestly some of the best but people here sue so often they have to really treat everything as worse case scenario.
I’m so glad everything is looking okay!! I’d been worrying about you. When are you expecting results from the next round of testing?
Trapped in the box! So anytime between last Thursday and this Thursday, it could take up to three weeks. We should have definitive answers by next week
So glad things are looking positive! Fingers crossed, and all the thoughts and prayers with you and your family!
For what it's worth, other than my son and nephew, all kids on both sides of the family we're under 6.5 (and almost all full term). Our girls are all lucky to hit 6lbs full term (I believe only 2 or 3 in 4 generations haveadr it to 6.5. 1 made it to 7lbs, most of us were 4 or 5lbs) Some people just make tiny babies!
So glad everything is looking pretty good. A friend of mine had a full term baby who was only 5.5 lbs. She just makes small babies! Hope that’s your case!
Had our follow up today to review the MRI and microarray results. Positive: everything on the microarray was negative and the MRI didn't detect anything aside from his size. Negative: Today's ultrasound included a doppler of the umbilical cord because I should be viable as of Monday. Unfortunately, because of his size they don't think that's the case, which makes sense but now they've detected that the cord doesn't have a diastolic flow (the way the explained it the is that there's two flows systemic (sp?) and diastolic, like blood pressure), so normally they'd have me get steroids today and start monitoring like in a hospital. I declined that. First he won't do the steroids yet, and at this point if I delivered today he isn't viable. So I'm literally looking at him passing in my womb or out but passing either way...today. That's not to say things can't change, so we're headed back to the high risk Dr next week to check the cord, monitor his heart rate, lungs etc and then we wait. At this point I'm praying we make it to at least 32 weeks because at east at this point I'll know he will live and maybe only spend one or two months in the NICU. It feels like every time we take one step forward we take two back. Thoughts and prayers are certainly welcome, we're praying pretty hard on our end.
Sending all my positive thoughts to you and your family! I'm so sorry your going through this and keep feeling like one step forward is two steps back. Fingers crossed that your next appointment has better news!
@princessandthegator my heart is aching for you. There are not enough words or hugs I can send, but you guys will certainly be in our prayers. Hoping for better news for you next week. Will you be on bedrest or anything until that time?
Thanks so much ladies, I'm honestly pretty optimistic because thus far he's passed everything with flying colors and every time we think we're facing his death, he's fine and healthy. My husband's outlook is a little more bleak.
@chopchop25 no, not so far. I'm nervous that that's the eventual road I'll have to take but keeping my fingers crossed it's after I report back to school so that I can add long term disability to my insurance. I don't have it right now and if I get bedridden without it, I'll have to take an unpaid leave.
@princessandthegator I'm sending you all the positive vibes and well wishes for you and the baby. Hang in there it sounds like he is a fighter and wants to stay in there for as long as he can!
