Hey ladies, I didn't want to keep bombarding the anatomy scan thread with my bad news so I decided (and hopefully it isn't against TB rules) to create a separate thread for my experience. As someone who is comforted by anecdotal evidence, I've had a really hard time finding similar incidents to mine, so maybe this will help someone someday...at the very least it will give me a place to tell our story because we're having a hard time coming out and speaking to friends and family.
So here's a little back story. Our first pregnancy was a blighted ovum but we didn't find out until we were 11 weeks. So we had a D & C and conceived our daughter immediately after (they used my surgery date as LMP and she was born 3 days before her due date). Her pregnancy was relatively easy, aside from common symptoms such as nausea, swelling, etc. She had normal scans, blood tests, etc. and is a healthy, happy almost 2 year old.
This pregnancy we had an NIPT (panorama) done at 11 weeks and everything came back low risk. 7 week ultrasound was right on target, measuring 3 days before LMP. We had an additional scan done at 8 weeks because I was spotting, again measuring about two days ahead. At our anatomy scan last week, it was discovered that baby's long bones were measuring about two weeks behind. The OB at the maternal fetal medicine office (this is where most OB's in our area send their patients for level 2 ultrasounds) recommended an amniocentesis, a fetal echo, and a fetal MRI. We panicked a bit because we didn't experience this with our previous pregnancy and amnio is kind of a scary word. Wednesday, our OB reassured us a bit that while SGA (small for gestational age) babies are uncommon, they're not unseen and more often than not it isn't so much a genetic abnormality as just a small baby. He also said that overall, baby was only measuring about a week behind. The next day we had our follow up with MFM (yesterday) and baby was still measuring behind but this time, they also found he had an echogenic bowel (bit of a spot, which she said could be something he swallowed and wouldn't be a big deal alone but in combination with the others could be a marker for something), and hypospadia. I didn't know what the 2nd thing was but basically she explained that it was that his penis appears to have a blunt head, as opposed to a curved one...kind of like an ice cream cone that's lost its scoop. Again, alone this wouldn't be a huge deal and it can be corrected with surgery but in combination with the mark in his bowel and him being SGA they want to run tests and rule out all possible abnormalities. So I had my amnio yesterday and we are waiting for the results.
I'd like, with admin permission, to be able to update you guys as we go along on this thread so that I'm not hijacking any others or really putting all of this info on so many different threads. Thoughts and prayers are always welcome, and highly appreciated.

Re: **TW** Our SGA Journey
(FYI - I’m not an admin, but I think this is a perfectly legitimate reason to start your own thread. This is a huge challenge for you, and we’ll better be able to support you this way.)
(I also don't see an issue with this thread, but also not an admin and admittedly don't know all the rules
Hoping your amnio results come back fine. I know it will now be stressful for the next few months until baby is here and you know everything.
Sending all my positive thoughts your way during this time. *hugs!!*
Sending you lots of positive thoughts
