Flying to Rochester this AM for a wedding and to meet up wth some S16 friends! Praying DD doesn’t puke while traveling since lately that’s been her favorite thing to do!
@knottieamusements you better believe my body pillow is making the 4-5 hour drive to my friend's house this afternoon. HELL NO am I going a weekend with it.
I'm highly debating taking it camping with us. Especially now that we have the Explorer and will have more room. This week I wouldn't have survived without the 6 pillows I used for a nest in the hotels.
Flying to Hawaii for our babymoon today! I wish I could take the Snoogle... looks like I’ll be requesting a bunch of extra pillows when we get there. This is the first time we’ll be away from DS for longer than one day, and I’m bummed about that, but excited to get some relaxation time finally!
I like the flexibility of using a nest of pillows instead of a body pillow, so I can move them around depending on how I feel... and DH left for a work trip yesterday, so I definitely took over every single pillow to make a nest in the middle of the bed - and had the best night's sleep!
Considering canceling an appointment I have this afternoon to just lay in the sun by the community pool. It’s such a gorgeous day and sunshine is good for my soul and my baby! I hate being an adult.
Ugh I feel huge lately. At my appt yesterday, I had gained 7 pounds since my last appt 5 weeks earlier, and in case I didn’t feel big enough, two coworkers today separately told me today how much bigger my belly has gotten lately. Uh, thanks?
@pumpkinpancake Same! Dropped weight and had only gained 1lb up until my last visit. Then 7lb between then and now (4 week period). With DS I had trouble gaining weight until the very end (then it came on quickly for an average total gain). I’m just trying to tell myself that each pregnancy is different. Maybe I’ll gain the majority of my weight earlier this time. Maybe I’ll just gain more overall. I’ll try and limit my junk food, but otherwise I’ll only start to worry if my OB says to worry.
@pumpkinpancake same! Gained 5lbs since my last appointment. With my son I gained it all at the end. I was kinda hoping not to buy maternity shorts for a while but that idea is out the window now. #clubRound
@nasalot188 Yes! I finished it yesterday as well and blubbered my way through the whole last episode!
Also firmly in the multiple pillow nest camp vs. A pregnancy pillow so I can reconfigure.
We bought a new (super comfortable but crazy expensive) mattress this week and it gets delivered Sunday - I cannot wait. Our current mattress is super humped in the middle and so uncomfortable and over 10 years old. I couldn’t live on it any longer and decided why better excuse than uncomfortable pregnant sleep to upgrade! We decided that will be our anniversary present to each other this year (and likely birthday and Christmas!)
Took ODD's birthday pics and our FB announcement pic today. This is the result *poof*
Ladybug - April 2013 Dandelion - October 2018 Angel "Aurora" - July 2020 Angel "Sawyer" - May 2021 Angel "Maxine" - January 2022 Angel "Violet" - March 2022 Baby Dove due March 2023
My pregnancy pillow has become my favorite thing lately! I feel so huge and cannot get comfortable without some belly support!! I got a softer cover for the snoogle and it came in the mail today- I’m so excited!!!
And I went from gaining nothing to 3 1/2 lbs. I freaked a little but I guess it’s normal. I’m trying to not gain too much since I’m already overweight, but I guess 3 1/2lbs at almost 20weeks isn’t bad. I’m being ridiculous.
And also- this kid has been kicking and moving up a storm!!! We had a doc appointment this week- out anatomy scan! And turns out I don’t have an anterior placenta like a nurse told me in the beginning. So it makes sense I’ve been feeling the baby so much and so early! Now I’m trying to figure out if I can feel it moving this much because of that or if this baby is just SUPER active. The baby doesn’t stop all day!! But I love it
FTM here. I can’t recall if I saw it this week or last week on my weekly checklist on this app, but I saw an item for creating/updating your will to name a guardian in case the worst happens. It’s not something I had really thought about. I’m wondering when people have done this and if it’s an expensive process since I assume it requires a lawyer.
@mamabearcj ha! I keep asking if it’s October yet!
@rabtiado1214 Definitely have a lawyer do it. My SIL does estate law and told me that those online form wills can be easily challenged/overturned and the people that are still here after you pass will have to go through a bunch of stuff that they wouldn’t otherwise have to (especially if somebody challenges it) and the child could be placed with somebody you didn’t name.
A girl I went to college with had a crazy eventful birth last night. Her contractions progressed much faster than they realized or expected. They were getting ready to leave and she went into the bathroom, next thing she knew she was pushing! Her hubby helped deliver their second boy at their house. Thankfully all was well! It was such a crazy story to read, and from the father's perspective.
@mamabearcj ugh I feel like it’s moving so slowly (maybe because it’s also the countdown to ending this rotation at work)...I love summer but come onnnn October
Summer hasn't even started yet ladies!! It's hard to believe it's already been four months but I think these next by will probably feel slow until my appointments get closer together rh a every 4 weeks
On a new random note, I got bit by either 2 bugs, a giant spider, or a vampire, because I have two marks on my shoulder/neck area that are directly next to each other, that I've scratched open and they don't look cute. I'm going with a vampire since that sounds the coolest.
I am in the middle of the estate planning process. My parents have been after me for several years to do it, but tiny human definitely was the catalyst for finally getting it done.
I’m going through a lawyer, but the documents we are doing includes more than just the will. Also, none of my docs are directly out of the box because I don’t have a spouse, and Blast doesn’t have another parent. Finally, the guy I am using was recommended because of his extensive experience with estate planning, so I am guessing his rates may be somewhat higher than someone who is less specialized.
I honestly wouldn’t try to use internet forms for something this important. You have no idea of who the person was who wrote the documents, and, especially if you can’t parse legalese, whether the documents contain language that is problematic for your specific situation. Additionally, laws change, which means that a standard template for a will written a few years ago may no longer be compliant. (Note- while the template may be bad, my understanding is that a will signed prior to changes in the law would still be valid- generally at worst, certain provisions may no longer be valid.)
If you are just doing a will, I would guess it would cost a few hundred dollars. You should look for someone who will charge a flat fee to do it, since it is a pretty standard document and there is no reason for you to pay $75/hr to have them insert your name into their basic form.
Regardless of what approach you take, be sure to carefully read the document before you sign it. Again- the lawyer is likely going to be taking a standard template that they use and customizing it to your situation. For example- one of the documents my lawyer provided for review still had a reference to a spouse listed. This wouldn’t have invalidated the document, but it was certainly not appropriate for my situation.
Finally- don’t believe any of the shit I just said- talk to a lawyer. I’m not one, I just play one on tv.
Dang, those stories about babies just flying out the vag freak me out! I'm working until the day I have the baby and I'm so afraid of the water breaking at work! I teach high school so that would be so awkward and all over Instagram!
Weight gain...10 pounds here...boo! I'm overweight to begin with so I don't want to gain more than another 10, we'll see how that goes. The nice thing though is breastfeeding is a great way to lose weight after the birth!
So I remembered to bring my body pillow to my friend's house this weekend...but I forgot an eye mask, and sun is up at 6 am. So I've been up since 6:15 cursing myself for that error plus staying up way past my 9 pm bedtime. Also, because my car is new, I have new car paranoia that someone is going to break into it and I'll have to replace a window. Naturally that fear made its way into my dream and I heard car alarm noises in my dream. So now I'm laying in bed, groggy and paranoid that someone did bust open my window. I have issues lol.
I like that my countdown is now less than what week I'm currently in. Makes me anxious but happy at the same time! So much to do still! Can't wait to meet my boy!
Me 33 DH 41 TTC since 2016 Due: October 12, 2018 Location: Ontario, Canada
Guise stop wishing the time away!!!!! I want everything to slow the heck down!!!!! Life gets so much crazier once you add another LO (or 2!!!). I'm trying to enjoy my "simple" life with just 2 kids lol
Today is city wide garage sale day! I'm pretty much ready to go with mine, except I forgot to get change Yesterday. DS is having a lemonade stand and sweet tea and coffee. Wish me luck! Hope I sell lots so clean up is minimal.
For those interested in will planning. Check the benefits offered by yours or your spouses (if you have one) company. Many of our associates don't know that will planning is a free service offered with our benefits.
@jweber4747 the water breaking before labor starts only happens in like 10-15% of births Can't remember where I got that number so I can't share it...but I know it is a low number and normally the water breaking does not happen before you know you are in labor.
SMH...Neighbors in the apartment next to us tripped on acid allllll night. Still going just as strong as they were at 3am. Non stop giggling, loud voices, music, and now one is guy running around outside in boxers with his belt on over his shirt because he ripped his pants and asking if he can race my German Shepherd.. I don’t envy them that all-nighter-feel-like-shit-the-whole-next-day feeling. I’m not even mad at them because I know they’ll feel like so much shit in a few hours
@rabtaido1214 +1 to what @sammierose464 and @knottieamusements said on estate planning/will. We paid for one we found through church, but then found out work offered it for free. The process cost us about $1600 but I feel super confident with our lawyer, so I’m not as bitter about the lost free service as I probably should be. We filled out quite a few docs beside just a will (things like digital assets, advanced directive, power of attorney, etc) and she taught us about state and federal laws that would penalize beneficiaries heavily through taxes + ways to allocate our assets that would minimize the impact on them.
@rabtaido1214 definitely go through a lawyer and make sure it’s done right. You need a will and a power of attorney for sure, and depending on your financial situation you may need more than that. We need to update ours and I keep forgetting. We’ve listed all four grandparents as guardians, which... I mean they get along but that’s a clusterfuck waiting to happen.
Re: Randoms 6/1
I actually abandoned my preggo pillow. I got tired of wrestling with it. We’ll see how long that lasts tho.
