@zande2016 jeez, vacation and pregnancy are turning my brain into jello. My friend was telling me that the Halo bassinet is heavy not the Dockatot. I registered for a boppy lounging pillow just to have sitting around for when I need a surface to set the baby down next to me during the day.

  • TMI alert:
Has anyone had experience with leaking amniotic fluid? I wear a pant liner all day because of discharge and urine (no amount of kegels help that sniss). I noticed the last 2 days this dirty yellowish tint on the liner. Smelling it (yes, I smelled it) it smells of urine. However, it's just an odd color. Dr. Google tells me amniotic fluid can be an odorless yellowish tint. Just hard to determine whether I should call l&d or wait another day...

  • @zombiehoohaa I would bet it’s pee. I pee Myself all day long during pregnancy. No amount of kegels has saved me from the leakage. I always know by the smell. Amniotoc fluid tends to have a sweet smell to it. I’m not really sure about the yellow tint though, I’d think either could have that. It doesn’t hurt to get it checked if you’re worried though!

@zombiehoohaa I’ve been really wet too and sometimes it has the yellowish tint. I’ve been checking and it’s not an infection or anything. Probably just pee in the mix. My water never broke with DS so i honestly doesn’t know what they mean by sweet smelling. I smell it too lol but idk the difference. I hear that if you lay down for a while and then feel a rush of fluid it could be a leak (if it happens frequently). I occasionally get that rush even after using the restroom but I’ve been tested twice and it’s nothing. One day I’m more dry than others but i hate this increase in discharge. It makes me more paranoid.
  • @zombiehoohaa +1 for snissing. I definitely get more discharge when I’m more active too. I remember when my water broke it smelled like hay, but I’ve heard it smells sweet too. But of course it doesn’t hurt to get checked out!
  • @zombiehoohaa sorry day late here - I was having that exact thing a few weeks ago.  Slightly yellow or beige - didn't really smell like pee, but didn't smell "sweet" or like hay, bleach or anything else they say AF smells like.  I did go in to be checked and they did the swab, microscope, and PF tests for AF and all were negative.  Dr said watery discharge can kick up around now and could be pregnancy incontinence.  For me I was feeling a mini gush after going to the bathroom - like come back and sit down and a couple min later feeling a large trickle/mini gush.  It was nothing, but dr agreed better to be safe than sorry.

  • +1 for snissing and yellow tinged discharge! At 15 weeks I went to the ER after my Dr thought I could have been leaking AF. All tests came back showing I wasn't and everything was fine. They also said to watch the smell when some days seem heavier for leakage and anything sweet smelling to call. So far I haven't had the sweet smell but like @wildtot my water never broke with my son so I don't know what it should smell like. I just watch the smell and my Dr said baby could also slow down movement wise when that happens. So I look for that as well
  • I seem to vaguely remember someone getting blackout curtains on Amazon? It's our memorial day project to take down the blinds in our bedroom.
  • We've bought multiple sets of blackout curtains through Amazon.  One pair is white/pink chevron and those don't work near as well as the solid purple - the white just doesn't filter out the light.  I recommend a blackout curtain rod too - it holds the curtain closer to the wall.
  • @kissableviv we have a blackout blind in DD’s room and blackout curtains in DS’s room and by FAR I would recommend the blind along with pretty curtains. I’ve always hated the curtains and they still let tons of light in.
  • I want the blinds so bad @hillbillywife but they might be too much money to spend for our rental. I'll see how much it would be just for the 2 windows in our room and go from there
  • @kissableviv that’s fair. The one I got was like $60. Worth every penny, but probably not for a rental.
  • @hillbillywife umm $60 isn't bad...lol I'm such a spender. Figuring I could get cheap Ikea curtains and invest in the blackout blinds...or thinking I could talk to the landlords because if they are interested it could be a nice upgrade to have in both bedrooms. I will scheme!
  • @kissableviv haha well. I guess comparatively window treatments of any sort could get significantly more than that. I had DH price out another one for my DS’s room and it was less than $50 at Lowe’s. Totally not bad!
  • Had a big goop of yellow and white mucus today... My OB was concerned it might be my mucus plug and had me come in. My cervix was nice and closed but baby was very low and head down. She said it might have been my plug, might not have been, but it doesn't look like I'm going into labor.

Anyone have discharge similar to this? Or anyone lose their plug very early (28+2) and not go into premature labor, I guess either because it regenerated or because the baby just didn't want to come out even without one?
  • @texasmainer I’m glad everything looks good! I lost what I thought was my plug a few times with DS, though I was a bit further along. It was never an indication of labor for me, and it must have regenerated because he stayed in until almost 39 weeks.
  • @texasmainer I lost my plug twice with DS and zero times with DD and went over by almost two weeks for both...and both times started with a completely closed cervix when induced. Such a tease, lol. But it was much later for me, I remember being ok with going into labor at that point.
  • @texasmainer I've been loosing big globs that look like pieces of plug for a while now - +1 to @SmashJam that you can lose it more than once - it can regenerate, so you can loose pieces (especially after sex or an internal check that irritates the cervix) and then it just comes back.  With DD when there was an impressive loss of it it was still almost a month before DD was born via induction.

  • Just listened to a podcast episode talking about inducing labor naturally and dates were mentioned. Has anyone done the 4-6 dates per day in the last month of pregnancy? I'm not a fan but if I remember correctly they also help with constipation?
  • I ate 6 dates a day in the last month of pregnancy and still went two weeks over, not dilated at all when they induced both times, lol. I will still do it this time though, just in case! It's kind of expensive and I had to keep going back to the store to get them because i didn't want them to go bad in the fridge and they were a bulk food at my co-op so they came in little bags with twist ties. Maybe there is an easier way to buy them that is less expensive and will keep me from going to the store all the time? It has to be a certain date right?
  • I have no idea there are all these things that are supposed to help but who knows! The only thing I know is that I feel my due date is pretty accurate so I'm so curious to see what's going to happen and if he decides to be late, early or on time! We're at the baby's mercy :)
  • @kissableviv I ate SO many dates last time! The last 4 weeks of pregnancy I'd get up eat breakfast + dates, go on a long walk then bounce on the yoga ball while watching TV and eating dates. I did this every day. When I was induced  at a week over due my body was no where near ready for labor.

I'm not saying dates can't help and there isn't really a downside to eating a ton of dates for a month so I still say it's worth a try.
    BabyFruit Ticker
  • @smashjam check out amazon for the dates, if you have prime that would be a good option. @kissableviv I read the study on eating 6 dates a day beginning at 36 weeks, and if I remember correctly, it lowered the chance of needing pitocin. When I asked my midwife what I can do to get my body ready for later, she mentioned the dates and said who knows it if will work, but there have been studies on it and it's worth a try, IF it doesn't spike my blood sugar. So I will definitely give it a try if my BS can handle it.
  • @texasmainer +1 to losing yellow/white globs for a long while now. I have even had to kind of pull it out...like there was a lot and it just kept coming. But i don't think it's the same as a mucus plug because I started losing that with both my other pregnancies once I started dilating a couple weeks before actually going into labor. It was thicker, and streaked with red/brown. It regenerates, too, so it's not always a sign of impending labor.

  • Isn't the mucus plug usually tinged with a little blood? I would probably assume yellow/white is just normal discharge. Pregnancy is such a beautiful thing

Has anyone purchased any Plae shoes for their kids? I’m debating on getting some for DS.
  • @wildtot yes! My toddler wears plae sneakers and o love them. He was a late walker but his walking and running improved a lot with them. He’s almost grown out of them and we’ll probably replace in the next siZe up.
  • wildtotwildtot member
@zande2016 do they have a supporting arch or are they just flat?
  • @wildtot they are pretty flat, there’s a slight arch. I’ve found a lot of the shoes for toddlers are like that. I heard great things about see kai run but their shoes are completely flat. His feet aren’t flat so they still seem to work well for him. Here’s photos, I tried to capture the footbed so you can see.

@zande2016 great thank you! I like the fact that they are so light weight and appear to be less bulky that a regular shoe (like more flexible).
  • @wildtot we've done see Kai run and stride rite. Stride rite is a lower price point and I needed two pairs...they did a collabo with target and I got them there. Loved see Kai run but got them on super sale otherwise out of my range. Stride rite is pretty lightweight too.
  • I saw some see kai run on the DSW website, price wasn’t too bad.

@SmashJam thanks for the suggestion I’ll have to look into those.
  • Speaking of toddler/kid shoes...can anyone recommend sandals good for a 1.5 year old? I feel like something waterproof would be good, but need more support than flip flops.
  • @zande2016 we’ll always like sandals like these. They’re nice an breathable but still offer lots of protection for busy little kiddos. Not waterproof but they dry well.

@zande2016 most of the “sandals” we got were from target. They were more closed than flip flops and easy to put on with velcro. DS can walk around our rocks no problem.

  • @zande2016 I second what @hillbillywife put up...I was all set to buy baby Keens but man $50+ is so much when he won't fit them next year, even if I count bernie being able to wear them eventually. But they have so many different sandal/open tennis shoe/hiker options. They basically look like those Cat &Jack shoes above though!
  • @zande2016 +1 to hiking sandals like suggested. I love the surprise by striderite but they aren't making those for boys anymore. I just bought a pair of cat and Jack ones for DS and they run big but are still pretty nice. I only buy shoes that have a flexible sole for the kids, nothing stiff or flat.
