@ckonscider Yeah, I typically use butter for all my high heat cooking since olive oil isn't great for that. But I didn't know the reason why. Super interesting!
Someone made this lemon-almond butter cake at a BBQ I went to yesterday. Oh my god it was good. There was also excellent macaroni salad there and now I'm sad I didn't eat more of it!
My BIL made smoked ribs for my MILs cookout last night. I had three of them while I was there. I took three home for dinner tonight... and I ate them before bed last night. Oops.

I am basically craving any fast food or restaurant food. I am legit tired of home cooking. I feel like this is SO odd. Maybe because I feel so sick, I don't feel like cooking, and I just want quick comfort food. Sad thing is that we are on a tight budget and there are hardly any restaurants near me.
ETA: @Whitmore1027 I'm with you. I can't remember the last time I cooked dinner for my family. The smell/taste of meat repulses me. All I want is side dishes, snacks and fast food.
@Whitmore1027 same. The other day I wanted to order pizza and my SO suggested we make calzones (ie- I make calzones, because that’s a dish I do, not him). And I was like “calzones are the opposite amount of work for me as ordering pizza”. I don’t remember what we had that night- but it wasn’t either. I think we just found leftovers to reheat.
I made that watermelon agua fresca today and added mint leaves and lime. I didn't bother to strain it because fiber but mostly I'm lazy. So good!! Then we made garlic butter shrimp and quinoa for dinner, and banana chocolate chip cookies are in the oven. It's been a solid food day.
@katy0990 Strawberry pie sounds so good! I don't think I've ever had that.
@hkom I didn’t get it finished until nap tim and it wasn’t set in time for dinner, so we settled for strawberries with homemade whipped topping. They were delicious, but now I’m laying here wide awake at 4:30 am debating if I should sneak down and eat a slice.
Brown sugar frosted mini wheats scarfed at 12:30 a.m. because for some reason I was starving (this, after my kid woke up screaming at 12:17). I really hate eating in the middle of the night but I know I wasn’t going to be able to get back to sleep if I didn’t have something.

I have been on team No Meat so far this time around, but apparently I can tolerate cold roast chicken. I had toast with (pasteurized) brie, cold roast chicken, and strawberry jam the other night for dinner. So amazing. If I had any homemade cranberry sauce on hand, I’d have used that, but the strawberry jam still was delish.
@katy0990 My DH's manager took him and some others out to dinner last night and he bought home a crab cake and mashed potatoes, I almost came downstairs at 1:00am and ate them. lol

@AdorkablePixie Second breakfasts and elevenses ! It sometimes happens when I'm not pregnant so I don't know if I can blame it totally on that...
Muesli is a mixture of raw oats, nuts, and dried fruit. It's basically like uncooked granola I guess? I used to make granola for yogurt but I've been so lazy lately. I just pour some oats, dried blueberries, and walnuts on top of my yogurt and call it muesli.
@kadeephd I ate my lunch at 10:30 yesterday too! I ate a bigger breakfast today so I could hold out and I've still had 2 snacks and am hungry waiting for lunch lol.
Now that I have access to all of the amazing sugary cereals I have started keeping a little baggie of cereal next to my bed because EVERY night I wake up craving it at like 3 AM.
Did anyone used to read Calvin and Hobbes?? I feel like I'm eating the equivalent of Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs. Especially compared to the healthier (read: less delicious) versions in Germany.
I can’t get enough of avocados and anything I can put soy sauce on. When the two combine (avocado sushi roll) my mind is blown. I’m writing this and my mouth is legit watering. Last night at the brewery we went to before the movies they had avocado eggrolls. They were southwestern style but I’m thinking about trying my own version with a soy sauce dipping sauce. Just wrapping avocado pieces in egg roll wrappers and deep frying them. Fine, Ill go with baking them too if I can get a similar result. I’m also eating a lot of vegetable gyoza. I never was that into Japanese/Asian cuisine before getting pregnant but holy hell if I could eat it every night I would. Oddly enough, Chinese food is a major turn off for me and I think it’s the garlic. Meanwhile I’m Italian and have always loved the stuff but now it gives me acid reflux. Anyone else on this one?
