Re: Weekday Randoms 4/2/18

  • That's annoying @smashjam we have bed issues too but buying a new mattress is so expensive. My husband also has sleep issues, I think apnea, and he's impossible to wake up in the morning, but do you think he'll ever get it looked at? nope! In fact, I just came out of the bedroom (he slept on the couch since I'm sick) and tried to wake him up to tell him about the excruciating pain I'm in, and he moaned and went back to sleep. Then our son woke up and he still wouldn't get up to go get him, so I had to do it, even though I'm sick. I swear I am so over this b.s

I don't know what to do because I'm seriously in agony when I swallow. Like I'm at the point of spitting into a cup rather than swallowing my spit, I can't eat and can barely drink tea. I slept maybe a couple broken hours last night. Rapid strep was negative and I know this is prob just the flu causing it but there has to be something they can do. Idk if I should cal my midwife or the urgent care back and demand something.

  • @zande2016 ugh that sounds awful I’m so sorry! I can’t believe there’s nothing they can give you, that’s miserable. Hoping your H gets off his ass and helps you out.

@SmashJam it’s always something huh?? We’ve gone through 2 bed frames since we bought a new bed last year because DH’s 200lb+ self flops into bed like his legs don’t work.
  • @SmashJam we bought a new bed almost 3 yrs ago. I was pregnant with DS at the time. Occasionally i have to rotate the mattress because DH is almost twice my weight so of course he’s gonna come to myself because it’s not as squishy. But then he ruins it for me lol because i like firm beds. So now that we are gonna look into a king we are considering a more expensive bed that will withstand his weight a bit long (but fx he tried to lose weight). Only challenge is we hope to find the same bed frame to match our bedroom set from two years ago. We mush have married mermen with all that bed flopping.
  • @zande2016 did the drs the further testing of strep? last year my rapid came back negative, but my dr starting me on antibiotics anyway, and then the further testing found me positive for step group C or something like that. Also, that throat numbing spray works too. not sure if it's pregnancy oked.

  • @rachelsogo as far as I can tell they only did the rapid strep, which was negative. I wasn't thinking strep because I have such extreme cold/flu symptoms, but I was wondering if I should push having the culture sent out just in case (or probably redone at this point). I spoke to my midwife and she approved mucinex (thank god, I literally was waking up choking on my mucus), all the throat numbing sprays and drops, and sudafed, but I went with regular saline nose spray instead of sudafed. I was finally able to drink some tea and eat some soup, so the throat pain is backing off a little and I'm hoping I can finally get a little sleep. This is def the sickest I've been maybe ever.
  • @zande2016 do you have post nasal drip? That gave me a nasty sore throat because crap was running down my throat all night. Benadryl apparently will dry stuff up too!
  • @hillbillywife dammit that was what I forgot to get! I wanted Benadryl to knock me out so I like sleep through the pain, and midwife said it was fine, but forgot to get it. Oh well, I'll have to wait til tonight when my husband gets home.
  • @zande2016 so sorry you feel so terrible! I'm not at that point but my throat was hurting a lot this morning and it's because the crap in my chest is starting to come out so here we are coughing out green stuff! Seriously felt awful the first hour of being awake. Semi functional now but praying this is not becoming a cold because I cannot take another 3 days of congested nose like back in November. I so hate not being able to take medicine!!!

@flockofmoosen3 funny you mentioned that , we just had a phone call with our financial advisor and he mentioned that tool, we may give it a try!
  • @zande2016 (holy cow sorry for all the typo's above.. I guess that's what decaf coffee does :P ) I don't think it would hurt asking for further testing. I hate sore throats and always seemed to get a mysterious throat infection once a year, which the dr would usually just put me on antibiotics and do the rapid strep test, which would come back negative. Last year she decided to send it off to the lab and sure enough, I've probably been getting strep every year and they just never sent it off to the labs.

  • We are actually going bedroom furniture shopping this weekend for the first time in about 15 years. I'm so excited to finally get a king size bed... my husband is a bed hog, overweight, and sleeps with TWO body pillows (one is my old snoogle). I'm just scared he is going to overspend, which he always manages to do.
  • @zande2016 check out Throat Coat Tea. It's been the best on my throat while dealing with this throat virus. I've been drinking 3 a day with a spoonful.of honey. My ob's office just called to check in and she. I Told them I was drinking that specific tea, they said to keep drinking it for my throat. It helps keeps my throat coated more at night as well.  Fx to feeling better! This shit sucks big hairy monkey nads...

  • @zombiehoohaa I scowered the tea section at the store earlier and didn't see that. Do you know what brand it is? I'll add it to the list for my husband to bring home from work.

Im jealous of everyone getting king size beds. Our bedroom is too small for one. Not gonna lie, it's been nice having the bed to myself while sick (except for the whole not sleeping and in horrible pain thing).
  • @kissableviv I hope yours goes away and doesn't turn into this monstrosity I have!
  • @wildtot yes! And the back arrow doesn’t even work half of the time! TB needs to get it together already.. I was on last night and kept getting an overloading server error too.
  • @wildtot THANK YOU i thought i was going crazy about the link
So sorry everyone is sick.... hopefully you get some rest and DH's step up to let you recoup

Daycare STILL hasn't acknowledged request to up DD to full time - DH had to track down the director at drop off to confirm.  Also DH has decided to apply for a transfer back to FL...it's freaking snowing here so I'm trolling Zillow for potential houses and school districts dreaming of palm trees.  We were all set to move back last pregnancy and this is the second time he's pulled this line of questioning this pregnancy...we'll see if it actually pans out.

  • @SmashJam so glad all looks well!

  • @smashjam I'm so glad all looks good, but I can't even imagine the emotional roller coaster of hearing a comment like that.
  • @gingerbride26 I would never move to FL but as you sit here talking of palm trees I am watching snow slowly drift down onto my deck. WHAT. Also relate on the lack of communication with preschools. I just finally got ahold of one I've been calling for several weeks to find out I'm on a waitlist of 12 (I live in VT?! I didn't think this was possible!) and I facebook messaged another I have sent 4 emails to and called multiple times to no avail, got an assurance they would respond to my email today, and....crickets. Nothing. Sigh. It is incredibly frustrating, even though I know they are busy.
  • @SmashJam what the actual F regarding the ultrasound. Sorry about that! @zombiehoohaa I'm going to check out that tea. Wishing I could take the day off but I'll take it slow instead. Gah!
  • I had my first real sit down conference with DD's teacher today and definitely feel better about some things.  The teacher is making changes in the classoom, the regional director I met with is moving more kids out to lower the ratio, and they're going to start emailing us every Monday their planned work for the week.  Plus, they're adjusting teacher schedules so that they have more help during the day and more overlap between teachers.

Hopefully it all plays out like she said!  She said the #1 thing DD needs to improve on is settling down for nap time.  We leave her alone in her crib, so I'm not sure how I'm going to be of help there!
  • @SmashJam also WTF about thoughtless comments from tech's - I thought the tech's never said anything for fear of lawsuits...that's just stupid
Grew up in New England and ran off to FL for college and stayed for 7 years total.  I missed the speed and culture of up north in FL...but after 6 years up here I'm ready to move back... Medical and Education are better up here, but with my joints, some heat and pools and slow pace is just what the dr ordered.  Plus Disney is my happy place.  Only thing that really sucks is last time we were serious about moving in-laws talked about having MIL fly down to stay with us 1 week a month so she was not separated from her granddaughter...

@SmashJam what the eff? Who would actually say that?? I’m mad for you!

@kissableviv ugh this is so true.. I’ve been having real problems with my kids not listening to me. I’ve legit had an emotional breakdown about it recently.

@gingerbride26 moving to FL sounds super nice right now. I’m not a huge beach person but it’d be nice to have some warm. And palm trees are pretty...
  • @zande2016 here is a picture of it. They also make some REALLY great other types of teas such as Smooth Move (pooper issues). I've purchased mine at Target, Walmart, and Whole Foods. My mom gets hers at the local grocery store.

  • is it wrong that I take absolute delight in the fact that even with the lip I get, it's still 10000x better than DD listening to DH?  He uses his stern voice and she just laughs at him... i know it's horrible and a problem... but so hard not to laugh too

  • @SmashJam I’m so glad everything looks great! But what a thoughtless statement from that tech, to say *she* could have caught it after the fact. Unless she was suggesting you sue, that just seems cruel, I’m sorry.

@kissableviv TRUTH. Although I have to say DS listens to me better some days than my own husband.

@gingerbride26 oh how I would looove to live somewhere warm year round. It actually snowed this morning... Spring started two weeks ago! DH and I have floated the idea but we’d really struggle with being so far away from family.
  • @zombiehoohaa it was a sad day in my life when I realized I wasn't supposed to take smooth moove while preggo. I love traditional medicinals tea!
  • @gingerbride26 yes! DS doesn’t listen to DH for anything because he doesn’t follow through. He’s been on bed time duty every day he’s home at night lately and I love listening to the sh*t show that is DH trying to wrangle a toddler that knows how to push his buttons.
  • @SmashJam that's my go-to tea for pooping problems! My sister in law swears by the Mothers Milk tea as well. She said it helped with her supply. She gave me her leftover unused bags for when it's time for breastfeeding. We are a traditional medicinal teas family! Also, sleepy time throat tamer is great for bestime.

  • @zombiehoohaa and @SmashJam there's this tea at the Asian Market that i swear by when backed up...might be similar/same but basically it's caster oil level effective so big no no for pregnancy.  I tried Mothers Milk during PP - no idea if it helped or not, I was doing fenugreek, lactation bars with brewers yeast, oatmeal every day...I swear it tastes like Indian food to me...no idea why.... dammit now i really want vindaloo...

@acunamatada yessss. With me on limited activity he's been doing bath and bed pretty much every night.  He's inconsistent is the problem.  He goes from super fun dad to holy shit strict.  She's been refusing to give me hugs lately (I think me not picking her up is confusing and hurtful to her so she's icing me out) and he tries to make her and then she gets mad and ends up pushing or hitting me...so then he puts her down without a story... Dude she's not quite 2!

  • My husbands at the pharmacy on his way home from work picking up more sick supplies for me. He texts me: "I can't find the Benadryl". Okay, so ask someone....how am I supposed to help you from the living room couch? He is hoping l'll say, okay forget it just come home. No, you're at a freaking CVS, there's no way they don't have Benadryl, suck it up and ask for directions. What is it with men and directions? I'm going to teach my sons to always ask for directions!
  • @zande2016 that reminds me of a few weeks ago I called in a pizza for DH to pick up on his way home from work. He called me complaining he couldn’t find a parking spot. Like what am I supposed to do about it from home? Silly men sometimes. No patience

  • Omg @lindsayleigh1989 same! I've been lurking there out of boredom and saw a few posts about 24ish weekers being born, so scary.
  • Ugh! First we're afraid they won't stick then we're stressing about pre term labor. Pregnancy is a joy :)
