  • @wildtot I hope all looks good. Keep us updated when things settle.

  • I'm sorry you're dealing with that again @wildtot, I hope it all checks out okay!
  • @wildtot how stressful, I hope everything is okay!

@SmashJam DH wanted me to stalk the mail lady today and make sure he got a package- like I can control whether or not the PO loses/delays his mail.
I’ve got enough to do today without giving you a play by play of the mail status.
  • @wildtot hope everything is okay! Keep us updated!

@noideawhatshesdoing THANK YOU! I was hoping I wasnt just a crazy person for feeling this way. I’m such a non confrontational person but I’m scared I’m just going to snap on her one of these days lol I know she means well but it’s driving me nuts
  • @ashbub714 When I was pregnant with my first there was a custodian I was friendly with who asked me every.day, are you eating? I think he was asking if I was doing well, but it eventually really started to annoy me (I was gaining weight like crazy so...yes, I was eating). One day I stopped in my friend's office to complain about it since he'd just asked me yet again...and he walked right by the open door in the middle of my rant. I was so embarrassed, but he also never asked me that question again.

@wildtot I hope things are all OK for you. Hang on there!

  • @wildtot good to hear so far. Hopefully tests come back OK and you can go home. I assume they're talking about bed rest for you going forward? Do you have any family that can come help you long term with kid #1 if you need it?

My apologies, ladies, about confusing October with September last night regarding birth stories. I'm pregnant.

Here's the link to the unmedicated birth thread in SEPTEMBER (there is also a medicated one) but this one has the doozy of a story that I hinted at before on the first page.  https://forums.thebump.com/discussion/12726393/unmedicated-low-intervention-births/p1

  • @wildtot fx everything is ok but I'm sorry for the emergency trip!

@SmashJam that sounds like me sometimes. Like when DH didn't pay for registration and had to pay a $150 fine. Wtf. And it happened right when I sold my car and we started to share expenses on his car. I made him take me to a nice dinner because of that. Lol.

@ashbub714 I would lose it, I don't like people constantly using those types on nicknames! @flockofmoosen3 love that people seem so concerned about us EATING! Gah.

Just had a lemon ginger cayenne shot after yoga and hoping the sore throat is better tomorrow. It has not moved into my nose or become a cold so I'm hopeful. Still feel weak though. I might take a Tylenol tonight, not that it will do much but it won't hurt either. I miss meds damnit!!!
  • @flockofmoosen3  no mention of bedrest yet. All tests are negative for infections as well. Still waiting to talk to the on call doctor from my ob office. They are recommending i schedule an appointment with my ob before my next one in 2.5 weeks. I’m gonna again about the med for contractions too. At least to ease my mind a bit. Unfortunately we have no close friends or relatives in state so DH has to step it up (probably the push he needs!). If the bleeding continues I’m hoping my ob will be more proactive with cervical ultrasound checks more frequently rather than me being concerned after hours and coming onto L&D each time.

On another note can’t help but feel judged sometimes when nurses ask me why i had a c section. I feel like saying back issues is not a valid reason for some. I know they’re just asking for their own reference and precaution but still that vibe.
  • @wildtot any reason you give them is a good enough reason. Even if it is because someone wanted one. Having a safe and healthy delivery with a calm mama is all that matters and if they judge you for your very valid reason then screw 'em, complain about them and request a new nurse.

  • @flockofmoosen3 how DARE you mess up the months. But thanks for letting us know so I could stalk this morning with my morning coffee!
  • @lindsayleigh1989 thanks! Your right!
  • Went in for my appointment today.. Gained 9 lbs in a month, failed my GD test, the MW heard an anomaly on the Doppler and baby apparently has a low heart rate. So I’m sitting for a NST.
    I cant win this morning.
  • @acunamatada oh no! I hope your day gets better and NTS goes well!
  • @wildtot I'm so glad everything is okay, please be sure to keep us posted!

@acunamatada Part of the 9lbs could be water rentation or even a giant poop so I wouldn't even stress it! I hope the NTS goes well and baby looks okay. Was this your first GD test?
  • @acunamatada hugs

  • @acunamatada I’m sorry! I hope the rest of the day is fantastic! FX for an uneventful NST
  • @acunamatada I’m so glad all is well.

Ladies I’m about to lose my s**t. My husband recently bought a lovesac (700 bucks) and I let it go bc we did need seating in the basement. Not exactly what we had planned but it’s comfy so okay. Now he’s talking about buying an electronic piano($500 to $700) No, he doesn’t play. He says he wants to learn. Mind you we have a keyboard he could attempt to learn on that has the “hammer effect” but he says that’s not good enough. I can’t see how this is a good idea when we should be saving for the baby or buying things the baby needs. He’s just not understanding my point and I’m so frustrated I just needed to vent to you all. I’m okay with little spending for things here and there but dropping these large amounts for frivolous things is just driving me crazy.

Sorry for such a long post  :(
  • Glad all looked well @acunamatada and @wildtot!

Part of me is really ready for it to be Friday and the weekend.  The other part of me realizes that means I'll have DD by myself for more hours in the day, which means I'll be even more exhausted.  She cried all the way down the steps this morning because I made her walk instead of carrying her, but carrying her so much this week has led to me needing to go to the chiropractor!!!

@SmashJam - the only concern I would have about a monthly post instead of weekly is whether it would fall off the front page?  I don't like to start them myself (because I don't have ideas of what to ask), so I only post if I see them on the front page of threads.
  • @ashbub714 sounds like my husband. I eventually keep telling him how much his random seasonal hobbies are so frustrating and a waste of money that now he sells something he owns to come up with the money for his new interest. Recently it was selling a gun to build an RC car. It’s still frustrating to see where his priorities are sometimes but at least it’s not our daily money.
  • @wildtot and @acunamatada I'm so glad everything is ok, I'm sorry that you experienced scares.

  • @acunamatada what a nightmare day! I hope it gets better. Good luck on the 3 hour I was already annoyed at sitting there for one.

Sore throat is becoming a cough, I wish I could take an expectorant...lots of tea and honey I guess...
  • Just got back from urgent care. I have the flu  doctor prescribed tamiflu, which I will take since I want to lessen how long I'm contagious and make sure baby is safe, but I'm not happy. I think I'm blowing through almost all my sick days this week.
  • @kissableviv feel better soon, fingers crossed that you don't get any of the yuckiness that a lot of us got. It sucks!

@zande2016 Bummer, wishing you a speedy recovery. I recently blew through a chunk of sick time too and I'm still not feeling great  :/

  • @wildtot that sucks :( Hear ya on the judgement - the on-call OB at ultrasound was grilling me as to why my OB wanted a cervical check because they don't like to poke around after 24 weeks... Because I get my kicks out of getting transvaginal ultrasounds, they're just so awesome I wanted one for no reason!
@acunamatada glad it turned out ok - I've been having the same thing with early morning (pre-coffee/breakfast) blood pressure and heart rates versus afternoon rating.
@ashbub714 We decided early on to keep 3 accounts - joint, individual personal accounts.  Most of our paychecks go to the joint and that's where bills and kid expenses come from, what we do with our individual money the other does not comment on.  My parents did something similar but with cash envelopes budgeting - both took an "allowance" that was for their personal use.  Cuts down on worrying about budgets - at least for me - I really like wildtot's suggestion that you sell one abandoned hobby before getting the next - just don't tell my husband or my laminator in the basement will show up on ebay ;-)

I just can't concentrate today... Work BS keeps taking all my spoons and then I can't function... I emailed daycare (as instructed) on Tuesday about DD upping to full time while DH is travelling and then for real in May...no response... DH got the new clueless assistant director at pickup yesterday (who i'd already talked to) and she said she'd talk to the director...still no response... I'm trying to give you more money, people!!

  • +1 for the individual accounts. Although we just had a discussion about it recently because with his dad's company stocks DH makes a lot more than I do so we were talking about how next year it would not be fair for me to pay half of the taxes that we owe because of his dad's company. This year it worked to share the load because I was going to pay a lot due to selling my condo but I usually get a refund by myself. Anyways, I think having individual accounts is always a good idea.

Also +1 for the work BS. Clueless clients one after another today. So annoyed. At least it's forcing me to be productive.

@zande2016 so sorry you have the flu! Here I am thinking we were at the tail end. Ugh. Feel better soon.

@runsomewhere thanks for the wishes. This sickness feels familiar so I feel good knowing how it's evolving. It's literally just crap building in my chest so once it's loose we'll move to a cough:) I was going to cave into Robitussin but I'll ride this out instead.

Also I was going on 3 days and no pooping, it finally happened but I need more lol. Love our poop talks, ladies! Keeping it real.
  • @gingerbride26 I have been trying to get DH to do cash envelopes but he won't do it because he "doesn't like to carry cash." He was like, can't we just spend the allotted amount we have budgeted? Except...he won't keep track. I'm not sure what we'll do, but budget-wise things need to change, or we need to change and be better at not jumping up each other's asses about what we're spending money on.
  • @wildtot and @acunamatada sorry you guys had scares!  These babies are keeping us on our toes today!

DH and i have our own credit cards and our own credit union accounts. We do have a joint checking and savings account too. He doesn’t use his credit union but i do. I get money direct deposit that we can use as emergency before savings or that’s how i limit my own spending on food, shopping, and self care (like my laser session). I can see all he does unless it’s on the credit cards.

Eta that i have a follow up appointment with my doctor on Monday.
  • @wildtot I like the idea of selling something f before buying something new!

@gingerbride26 we actually do have separate accounts and don’t usually worry about each other’s spending once the bills are paid. But these are such large purchases I can’t treat it as “normal spending”. I feel like we need to discuss and agree on things this large...especially now.
  • @SmashJam same here I've been bad at tracking. I should get back on using Mint. It was actually really helpful.
  • @SmashJam and @kissableviv I was just going to mention mint - that helped a LOT with money talks and stresses (it is also my guardian angel when it comes to taxes).  We still aren't as awesome at keeping to a budget as cash envelope system would be (and I hate carrying cash too) but bills are getting paid so we're not sweating it too much.  And I totally hear you @ashbub714 I tend to discuss spending over $200 with him even if it's just my money and he always wonders why.

  • We use YNAB (You Need a Budget) instead of Mint to set budgets for various categories and save money. It seriously stepped up our savings and net worth by a LOT since we started using it 2 years ago. It absolutely helps that both DH and I are intrinsically motivated to stick to budgets, discuss all purchases larger than $50 before making them, and just save money in general. We share all banking accounts AND credit card accounts but we fully trust each other because we have the same goals and values regarding money management. We are in a really good spot with our finances and we don't even make that much money.

Getting us to where we are financially was all DH though--I was too scared of money to deal with it myself. He just spent a lot of time reading about how to do this and just did it and learned more along the way and has been passing on knowledge to me. He's my hero.

  • It's 2:45 am and I seriously don't think I'm going to sleep tonight. I'm just in too much pain - my throat is literally on fire and nothing helps. Every time I drift off, the pain wakes me up. Currently propped up in bed with the humidifier on full blast, eating honey out of the jar by the spoonful, downing cough drops and water...no relief in sight. I'm glad the baby has decided to wake up and keep me company but if he could stop ferociously kicking my cervix and bladder, that'd be great. Being sick during pregnancy sucks. If I weren't pregnant I'd be sooo drugged up and knocked out right now.
  • @zande2016 I hope you get some relief and some sleep! Being sick during pregnancy DOES suck.

DH is driving me insane! We have bought two mattresses and a bed frame in the last few years. The first mattress was too soft and sagged so we had to by a new one, which HAD to be like, $2500, because that was quality and the only thing that would work (sigh.). So now we have a new mattress, we've had it for almost two years. DH says its sags and only has a good spot right in the middle of the mattress, and its because our handmade bed has squares in it where the bed sags through so we need to get plywood to cover them. Great. We did that. Now he says the plywood is old and sags through the holes, and is causing a problem again, so we need to get 2x4's and put them over the holes instead of plywood, but that the 2x4's will still sag. into the holes causing the same problem. Basically, he wants to get rid of our bed frame and buy a different one. I think he's gained about 50 lbs in the last two years and if he fixed some of the other issues that might be causing his poor sleep we wouldn't have to spend more money on ANOTHER EFFING BED. I at least wish he'd try.
  • @zande2016 cepacol cough drops have a numbing agent in them! They’re amazing! They don’t taste amazing but a not sore throat is worth it. Tylenol might also help relieve some of the inflammation too. Hope you feel better!

@SmashJam sounds like an excuse to me lol. I don’t think 2x4s can sag if they’re screwed into the frame correctly. Our mattress sits on our handmade bed frame on top of probably 2 dozen little 1x’s and it’s been like that for over 3 years and while the mattress is wearing down some, the wood is perfect still. My h and I are big people.
