@gingerbride26 I literally “aww”d at your H. I’m glad he’s there to take care of you. Those men of ours definitely do have their redeeming qualities! FX and prayers that everything is ok with little man!
Regarding birth control, for me the Mirena was the best thing ever! I'm getting that out back in as soon as I can. My DD was conceived while I was taking birth control so after she was born I tried the Mirena and had a great experience. No periods, no side effects, nothing.
Funny Mirena story, I went in to get it put in when DD was 10 weeks old. I had to pee in a cup before the appointment, didn't think much of it. When the doctor came in I was tending to DD instead of sitting on the exam table. I was like sorry just finishing here. He says "that's ok you can stay there while we chat for a minute" and behind him comes the nurse with the ultrasound machine. At that moment all I could think was "omg I'm pregnant again" I freaked out and almost started crying.
The doctor just wanted to chat to check in and make sure I was doing well and answer any questions and the ultrasound machine was to confirm the correct placement of the IUD but I seriously almost died for a second there.
Thanks, ladies. He was on the ball today, right now he's doing DD bath/bed solo too! Dr did a quick internal said she didn't feel any dilation or much shortening but called the hospital to see if they could squeeze me in for a cervical u/s today instead of the office appointment I had for Thursday. We went right over and DH was rewarded for his sweetness with a mini growth check u/s before the dreaded transvaginal u/s. Everything looks good, cervical length same as anatomy scan 3 weeks ago and hospital dr was basically "why the f are you here!?". Kid's still happy as a clam playing with his toes over his head and they got a better shot of the goods to confirm absolutely a boy. My dr wants me to rest for a good week, limit activity, be on lookout for worsening cramps/spotting and come back before the scheduled FL trip but other than take it easy, clean bill of health. I'm cramping like a mofo from all the internal poking though - hate those.
Now i just need to find a new show to binge watch as I work from bed this week... We watched Nailed It while waiting for the appointment and the laughing really helped - so thanks for the recommendation and fx ;-)
@gingerbride26 glad to hear all looks good! Take it easy and enjoy the binge watch! We’ve been watching Series of Unfortunate Events only because I really liked the books. Godless is another good one if you like western stuff but very woman dominated. These are on Netflix.
@gingerbride26 glad everything checked out okay! those transvaginal u/s are the absolute worst! Before I went through chemo I had eggs harvested to ensure I'd be able to get pregnant afterwards and I had to get a transvaginal u/s every other day for 2 weeks it was freaking terrible lol
@gingerbride26 yay for everything checking out, and double yay for getting rest on doctor's orders!
Sooooo apparently there's such thing as an 18 month sleep regression. Come onnnnnn I thought we were done with these. Last night he cried just about every hour the whole night. It's only 9:30 and he's already started it again. I gave him Motrin in case it's teething (he only has a few teeth left to come in), but now I'm thinking we should have slipped him some Benadryl. Kidding. sort of....
I'm totally beat so +1 for tiredness @zande2016 although it's not because of my LO. Probably all the sugar from today and waking up early/jet lag. At least I am fully unpacked! It took all my energy...easy dinner tonight for sure.
@kissableviv I was really tired today from not sleeping last night, and when I'm tired I can't control my eating...had too much sugar and that just made me more tired. vicious cycle!
Reading the birth stories on October's medicated and unmedicated threads is making me nostalgic and excited at the same time! I really hope to go med free this time just to see if I can do it.
Also, in the medicated thread, there is one horrifying tale where the lady was basically forced into a C-section...and then some.
@zande2016 warning there is also a two year sleep regression. It’s one of the last ones i think. We still have our last set of molars to go and I’m not looking forward to it. DS always gets sick with teething. With ya on the Benadryl
So if this isn't karma, I don't know what is. I basically called in sick on Monday when I wasn't sick because I was just plain exhausted. Woke up today and I am SICK. Finally got this horrible virus my son has been fighting. Sore throat, super achy, sinus headache. So.Achy. But I really can't use another sick day, so here I am. Serves me right. Trying to figure out how long I have to stay at work in order to not get docked a sick day.
@zande2016 same thing happens to me...every...time.... It's like as soon as I stop going at manic speed my body stops fighting the bug I'm keeping at bay. I'm only 4 hours into this whole "taking it easy" thing and i'm already over it. Why is it when you are busy you want to do nothing and when you are forced to do nothing you want to be busy? guess I'm just a miserable person lol I miss my dual 24" monitors and snack machine. Propped up in a zero G position in the preg pillow is pretty sweet though...
@zande2016 Ugh, that literally just happened to me but it was my son that got really sick with the flu. I hope you feel better
Ladies - I've been experiencing a lot of anxiety for the past few days, which is very unusual for me. I have a lot going on in my personal life and I think it's finally caught up with me. Hopefully I will feel better in the next couple of days and I'll have more to contribute besides negative "debbie downer" type posts - I refuse to subject you all to that on a daily basis which is why I've been kind of quiet lately.
@foxbaby2016 I hope things calm down and improve for you soon. Don't feel like a "debbie downer" if you need to vent, rant or cry to us. We're here for you for the good and the bad.
I'm still in my PJs on the couch watching ER and writing all the emails. Yup, I suck. Also at my second day cup of honey tea, back to lemon water after this because of course it's also been 2 days since I've pooped, damnit!!
@kissableviv rest up and baby that sore throat, you do not want the stupid bronchitis that we all seem to be getting.
Are you doing green smoothies? I make them in my ninja bullet, a couple handfuls of super greens, lemon and frozen mango or berries. So yummy and keeps me somewhat regular.
@foxbaby2016 +1 to vent away - i love the "debbie downer" posts - makes me feel less alone! My anxiety got really bad around this time with my first, hormones are a biotich, wish I'd seen someone sooner rather than waiting. I see a therapist every other week for an hour and it's really been amazing to get my anxiety under control - she has worked with me to find ways to re-frame my thinking or breathe through the anxiety triggers, and also validates that I have legit triggers going on and provides constructive feedback when I vent. It's also an hour away from house /office that's just for me and I can say whatever I want about MIL drama without my husband hearing and being in the middle
@runsomewhere oh yes! Love those! But with traveling on Monday (even though I stuck with salads) and feeling low yesterday after the glucose test I think that's why my intestine is not happy. Making a big green smoothie for my snack though, thanks for the reminder!!!
DS got into a magnet preschool 2 mi from our house! As excited as I am for free FT preschool I’m freaking out just a little bit. 3 just feels so early for school!
Congratulations @acunamatada and @elizabethrn87 for different reasons! New random, finally found a bikini top that fits. Alleluja! Now to find a matching bottom...
Just went to stalk the October board so I could read their birth story threads and I quit because I am overwhelmed by all their threads! I might have just skimmed too fast but holy hell there is a lot there!
Edited to avoid another post: I noticed people often do not post in teh STM+thread if we do it weekly. Would second time moms post in there more if we did a monthly thread for STM+ questions? Or should we just be like, meh, and not post one anymore?
@foxbaby2016 I hope your anxiety gets better soon! Feel free to vent here though. If you can’t vent to a bunch of pregnant strangers who can you vent to? Lol
@elizabethrn87 congrats to you as well! It feels so amazing to see an end in sight, doesn’t it!?
ETA: my random for the day - does anyone else dislike the word preggers or is that just me? There’s a girl at my work who always addresses me as “preggers” now and I hate it. Every single day I hear “hey preggers, how you feeling”. “Um, the same as yesterday and I have a freaking name”. Am I just being a b****y pregnant lady?
@ashbub714 You are a human, not a human shaped incubator. You have a name that presumably your coworker refers to you by when speaking about you and will call you again after you're no longer pregnant. So no, you're not being a b about it. Can you tell this is a sore point for me too? lol
Another trip to L&D. DH has to stay behind with DS. I’m starting to think we need to find an emergency sitter if this keeps happening. I have no other family or friends to watch DS or accompany me.
