The last question thread was from a couple weeks ago, so hopefully it’s all good I started a new one! mainly for selfish reasons since I have a question myself
Did anyone use a halo bassinet? I had a lot of anxiety around putting my first down (I only slept 2 hrs the first three nights because I needed to hold him to feel him breathing) and I'm thinking this might help with that because I'll be able to see the baby next to me ish.
DH does NOT want to cosleep this time, so I was wondering if this might be a happy medium.
If it wasn't so freaking expensive I would just get one and get one and say to tell with it but I'm definitely on the fence with the price.
@laufisch I am definitely getting one, but still debating between the gliding one and the swivel one. My friend who had a baby in December has the swivel one and loves it.

Headaches, y'all. What is helping you guys? I was recommended Excedrin Tension Headache (acetaminophen + caffeine) by my OB and those help take the edge off but the pain inevitably comes back a few hours later. OB also called in a script for Fioricet but I am super iffy on taking that. I have had migraines since age 5 so I am well-versed in headaches of all varieties but this is really crappy!!
Also, my skin still sucks so if anyone has found anything that's working at all, let me know.
I'm definitely getting a Halo this time but I haven't used one before. I've seen a ton of them on the FB swap for like half of retail so that's definitely one item I'm getting used.
Well WTF - TB cut off half my post above and didn't post my question. I swear I really have one! HA.
Has anyone done an early glucose test? I had GD with DS, so I am doing the 1 hour tomorrow morning. I wasn't sure if the results came back that I failed if I'm automatically diagnosed with GD, or if I'd still have to do a 3 hour? I didn't really ask my OB much when she gave me the drink at my appointment a couple weeks ago. I'm really hoping I can avoid it this time around. I was able to control it with diet, but it was just a pain and this time it'd be so much longer.
@lolog531 I did the early 1 hr both times. I failed with kid 2, but not kid 1. I still had to do the 3 hour with both kids, kid 2 was just quickly after while kid 1 it was at the regular ~24 weeks.

The Halo is definitely tempting, but it does have a big price tag. FB sites/swaps are a great place for a lot of big ticket items that are still in great condition! DS slept in the RnP the first 2 months because of reflux issues and the bassinet we borrowed from a friend was such a waste because he hated it from night 1 because of the reflux. I would hate to spend the money and end up in the same situation! I think we may just use the top part of the PnP initially and if this LO can handle laying flat, then maybe get the Halo or something similar.
Prenatal question - I have one that's supposed to be taken twice a day. I am terrible at remembering to take it one of the times so i've been taking both doses at once instead of skipping one. That's the better way, right? Or should I skip it?

If you are intent on using the Halo, definitely get a used one if you can. We got a new one for DD and she HATED it and ended up sleeping in a Rock N Play next to our bed. We did a sleep surfaces thread a while back and several other moms had similar experiences.
@lolog531 I get to take an early glucose test next Tuesday (16 weeks). I didn’t have GD last time, but I started at a higher weight this time. Ironically, between m/s dropping my weight this time and having a major weight gain at this point in my previous pregnancy, I’m at the same weight now that I was then. Oh well.
@lolog531 I did the early glucose test and I was told if I failed I would have to do the 3 hour one. Luckily I passed. Just warning you it made me extremely sick. My doctor told me that happens to some people but isn't too common. I actually ended up in the hospital with an IV because I could not keep even water down for about 24 hours after the test. My blood pressure also rose to stroke level. I pray that it doesn't happen to you but I wish I would have known that the drink has bad side effects for some people.
We have a Halo and really wanted to love it for DS but he had some reflux issues so we maybe used it for 1 night. He was maybe in it for a few hours. The problem is there is no way to get an incline in the Halo, so if your baby has reflux maybe have a Rock n Play as a backup solution. Baby can still be right next to the bed in arms reach that way

So sorry it made you so sick! I took the 1 and 3 hour with DS and although it wasn't fun, I didn't get physically sick from either of them. Hopefully this time around I don't have any side effects, but we'll see how it goes! I have been eating WAY more carbs than normal this pregnancy, so I don't have a very good feelign going into it!
Where is everyone at with their weight? Are you gaining/losing/maintaining? I lost 9 pounds due to m/s and have been maintaining for around 4 weeks.
I had a friend when she was pregnant with her first lose a ton of weight during first trimester and she ended up with a healthy, happy baby - if that helps at all.
@hardlyhannah I'm supposed to take mine 3x a day but I only take it once LOL. First pregnancy, I couldn't even take prenatals and I took regular gummy vitamins and DS turned out fine.
To all you mamas that co-sleep, this is not a judgement at all, I just don't know how you do it! Like physically. I'm such a light sleeper and tried with DS for a few nights and just couldn't. I couldn't get to sleep, it really stressed me out even in his sleeper in the room. He was a crib baby from the start.

Haha and for this I commend you. I loved sleeping with DS2 and still enjoy it to this day if we nap together or when he's sick. DS1 was never a cuddler and still isn't so it was nice to have one to snuggle with. I slept so much better when he was either next to me or sleeping with me in bed. However he did fall out of the bed once when he was 7 months old and it resulted in a 4 day hospital stay so I can most certainly see why it's also considered unsafe.
@calimom2524 I aplogize and will take down if offensive. It was a topic that was discussed in my previous Bump group two years ago without causing offense, but I get that policies have changed since then and of course do not want to upset anyone.

Oh I know you weren't meaning anything negative by it! I'm just warning you the weight discussions don't go well in this group as we learned a few weeks ago in one of the threads so it may be too sensitive to discuss for some.
@calimom2524 I can sleep with DS now (in fact he's been with me for the last 2 weeks while DH has been gone) but I couldn't do it as a baby - every noise, grunt etc I would be wide awake. Heck, even if DS coughs in his room at night now, it wakes me up. I'm such a terrible sleeper LOL
I don’t think discussing weight in and of itself is a problem, it’s the potential for comments. Like if someone says a specific number and then says “I’m huge!” or otherwise implies it’s a lot, that’s likely to make anyone else who’s gained the same feel pretty bad. I also think it’s better to not include specific starting weights and ending weights. But that’s just my personal preference. I started a thread for weight loss and health after our babies were born in May 16 and set a few guidelines. So if we’re going to talk about it, we should probably make a separate thread for it so 1. A few ground rules can be set and 2. People can avoid the conversation if it’s triggering for them.

Yeah that's a more detailed description of what I mean. It's just a super sensitive subject for some so casually just discussing "I've gained or lost __ pounds" may seem innocent to some (like me, for example, as I don't obsess about weight at all) and to others it may cause anxiety or could be a trigger for something else. I agree that if it is something people want to discuss a separate thread would be a good idea.
100% NBR, but what are your opinions on online vs agent for auto insurance?
We are getting our Tahoe today, and looking around since our policy renews on the 1st. I have found that Geico/Progressive type places are about 1/2 of places with agents similar to State Farm type places. I'm torn between paying to support someone I know/will get to know vs saving that $ every month and hoping that we continue to not have any claims for the next couple years.

So I totaled my car in October, 100% my fault. Geico was OUTSTANDING in their customer service. I totaled my car on Thursday and had the check in my hand for higher than market value of my car on Friday afternoon. They replaced my car seats instantly, paid my medical bills, they called me for everything, I didn't make a single call except for reporting the accident to them.
I t-boned a guy last week, 100% his fault, and he had Progressive. They also have amazing customer service, I already have the check for the damages to my car and the "pain and suffering settlement" and they will be paying my medical bills.
I've had nothing but great experiences with both companies but I will remain a Geico customer for life after how amazing they were when I totaled my car.

I got so tired of our rates going up through a friend's insurance (he was AllState) that I went online and did Geico and it's been fine. I haven't used them for any claims, but I am MUCH happier with their rates. We also used them to do 3rd party homeowner's insurance and that, too, was MUCH cheaper than using a different company. I think we have Liberty Mutual for homeowners. I'm not worried about coverage on either and I'm a bulldog that gets my way when someone tries to pull the wool over my eyes, so, basically, go for it. Lol.

I read this too quickly as "I boned a guy last week" and was super confused.
I have also had great experiences with both Geico (when someone hit me) and Allstate (mine, I have never caused an accident but their customer service has always been stellar with regards to policy changes/etc).

@princesslockness - I vote for the online option, especially if it will save you money. I've never met my insurance agent but they have been fantastic to me when I call or email.
You say that you're continuing to support someone you know, will there be personal relationship issues for you if you switch?
@calimom2524 I got rear-ended when pregnant and Progressive was AWESOME. I drug them out until after the anatomy scan because I was nervous but they fixed everything, paid for massages, chiropractic care, "pain and suffering," etc.
We have Geico and they've been amazing. DH's car got broken into a month after we got it and a bunch of his photography equipment and photos got stolen and they covered a lot of the cost.

@Firemanswife11 I keep seeing ppl talking about taking magnesium along with the Tylenol and caffeine for headaches. I’ve bedn getting them like every other day lately and at times they are pretty debilitating, so I asked dh to pick me up some at work today.
I might try that @pghctwife. I have some good magnesium at home. I actually had some success with migraine relief taking extra B vitamins but stopped that before I got pregnant. I've dabbled with magnesium and I know I have some chelated at home...thanks for the reminder.
@proudparent2b I don't mind discussing weight. I brought it up a few times in my first bmb and no one ever attacked me.
This early in pregnancy what you described is perfectly normal for a healthy weight person. If you were overweight to begin with it's also fine. If you were underweight and are experiencing problems with nausea your ob may address it a little further down the road. But unless you were underweight I'd say what you're describing isn't unusual. Some people don't experience steady weight gain until third trimester. Overweight moms might not experience much at all. Everyone's different.
The number of pounds gained or lost doesn't mean the same for everyone. It's the bigger picture of health, size before pregnancy, and measurements taken during pregnancy that matter more.
