Re: Weekday Randoms 2/12-2/16

  • @zande2016 I did the elective 3D/4D scan! I would totally recommend it. My little baby was sleeping so she only moved a little bit at the beginning but it was still amazing to see. Also  FTM so I’m easily amazed...haha. Granted they just look like lumpy little potatoes at this point, it was cute nonetheless! I say go for it :)

Thanks for the feedback! Originally I was thinking about doing it to find out the sex sooner, but since we're already finding out in a week maybe I'll do it later on when the facial features are formed more.

@MichelleAG05 yeah like it’s more stretched open. No hernia though. I’ve had multiple laparoscopic surgeries so that probably doesn’t make it look nice either lol. I can feel some scare tissue tho but no pain. I had diastasis but it corrected itself within 9-10 months. I did religiously wear a belly band for almost 5 months especially if i did some light exercise. It it didn’t get corrected my doc would of referred me to physical therapy. Surgery is last resort i think but most insurances don’t cover (elective procedure).

  • @zande2016 that’s a good plan! I should have added that the tech that did mine said they’re much more worth it when you’re ~25+ weeks to watch them moving around/see facial features. But I also did it to find out the sex earlier as I have no self control haha
  • @ashbub714 I’m sorry, that sounded terrible! I’m happy you’re feeling better today.

    @lindsayleigh1989 good luck today!

  • Thanks @wildtot. I guess we'll see how things look after baby is out. And hopefully insurance will cover whatever is needed!

@zande2016 I did an early elective ultrasound with my last pregnancy to find out the sex (12 weeks 2 days... incredible.  This woman was so good at her job).  Anyway, like you said, if you are doing it just to peek at baby and not find out the sex I would wait until like 28-30 weeks so its features can be seen better, yet baby isn't so squished in there. :)

    Question NPR:

how would you approach this problem? I live in a great smallish neighborhood with lots of kids and it's safe and just perfect for our family. For the past couple of yes, I have noticed that a high school kid in the next cul-de-sac over has been meeting random kids (from outside our neighborhood) at their circle to sell whatever to them. He is almost always in his car, ready to drive away immediately after the deal, and the visitors are either on foot or they drive in. sometimes they leave right after he does or they linger in the cul-de-sac for a while without him.

This happens frequently, during the day, in plain sight to anyone familiar with the goings-on of our neighborhood (we walk our dog at least twice a day and walk right by his street daily). Yesterday a random car was waiting outside my house, and before I could find out why they drove off and into his cul-de-sac instead, having clearly been at the wrong house at first...my house. What if it was someone who had beef with him? (I verified they were customers when I drove past his street and saw the car still hanging out...with everyone sitting inside)

I want the dealing to leave our neighborhood but I am afraid of getting him in trouble and him finding out I reported him and retaliating against my house/family. Nothing scares me more than unstable and immature teenagers while i have small children--they do dumb shit all the time.

What do I do? If I call police I am not sure what they can offer? I obvs have no idea when he decides to deal and I don't want to be involved in anything...ugh.
You can call and leave an anonymous tip. The cops will then go stake out the area, observe the behavior, and use their observations as the grounds for a stop and potential arrest. No one need ever know it was you who tipped them off.

ETA: Just realized I was assuming that you live in the US. But I feel like anonymous tips are something accepted by most police forces.
  • @zande2016 I was induced with all my babies but in 3 out 4 of those pregnancies, it was due to pre-e or gestational hypertension.  With my daughter, I was induced at 39 weeks due to GD.  BUT my MFM would have been fine waiting until 40 weeks if I wanted to.  But I'm a very anxious person and was fine with being induced and having an "end date".  I think you could push for going a little later but you will likely have to do NSTs a couple times a week to check on baby if you want to go past 40 weeks.  I guess it depends on the protocol at the birth center you want to deliver at and your doctor/midwife's practices.  When did you go into labor with your first baby?

  • @Sarafuss I had gestational hypertension the first time too, they kept checking for pre-e but I never developed it. They still decided to induce at 39 weeks. The induction went fine but my son had some issues after he was born and I was just really hoping to avoid induction this time. I'm already doing baby aspirin and trying to limit weight gain to try to avoid the blood pressure issues again, but I feel like the odds are stacked against me. The good thing is I'm working with midwives who will try to help me avoid induction if possible, as long as it's safe (at my old OB group they routinely induced out of convenience).
  • @nimmle That's amazing news!!! I can't believe that nobody had the foresight to think about that before scheduling it. Actually....yeah I can believe that.
  • @beanship That's what happens when you have a bunch of Men in leadership making these decisions. Just thinking Spring Break in Cancun
  • Well, I was making myself a bowl of cereal as a snack. I wanted to add a banana so I grabbed the bag...while trying to open it, I elbowed the cereal bowl that was on the counter...it slid off, fell onto my snack cart and the milk spilled on it, plus all over the floor...I guess it's a prelude to baby messes! Emptied the cart and washed it outside, then wiped off all the snack bags and even moved some of them into clean bags...that was a fun afternoon!!
  • Do we have any other elementary teachers in our group? I started going through the google  intro sheet but on my phone it got to be pretty tiring to search through.
  • @lindsayleigh1989 glad you got some anxiety relief and all looked great! I’m with you that when my doctor posed the idea of a vbac but then listened all the possible complaints it led back to a scheduled c section. I know you had a terrible emergency section and i hope if you get the scheduled way it goes smoother.
  • @lindsayleigh1989 I opted just to do csection again. I am a little saddened thinking of the recovery time, but in my case it's the safest option for me and the baby
  • @lindsayleigh1989 I’m glad your scan went well! Sorry you’re a little bit disappointed. I’m sure she will be so loved though! Hopefully whatever decision you make about a vbac you feel peace.
  • @hillbillywife Yeah im over it and excited to use all my tiny girl things again haha

  • @lindsayleigh1989 Congrats! Glad to hear all looks good :) My OB is completely fine with my trying for VBAC but with DD, I labored for 36 hours which ended in a c-section. My epidural wore off just after she was out and *poss TW* I was in the worst pain I've ever felt (I could literally feel them tearing my muscles by hand). *end TW* So needless to say, I'm torn on wanting to attempt VBAC but also concerned I could end up completely knocked out if that fails and ends on a c-section again. As of now, I'm scheduling surgery but will reevaluate closer to the end and see how big this little dude might be.
  • I am so frustrated this morning. I just texted my husband to remind him that I have an appointment next Tuesday with my obgyn (on his day off) and he goes, “can you ask your sister to watch DS?” Well no. I can’t keep asking her. She just watched him most of the day on Monday for our anatomy scan. So friggin annoying. Like I schedule these appointments on your day off so you can help with YOUR SON. He said to ask her because he will probably get forced in, but asked me to make the apoointments on his days off so he didn’t have to take time off. WTF. I just can’t win here. Like maybe I keep having heart palpitation because I’m constantly friggin stressed out.  :'(:'(:'(
  • @paytonpedro you're not alone. I gave up on my husband long ago. I had to have my mom basically move in with us when I was on bedrest (even on weekends... heaven forbid my husband watch his own child for 1 or 2 days)

  • Just sitting here watching all my afternoon meetings get cancelled. I usually wouldn’t mind but this week has been going super slow and I’m already ready for today yo be over. Maybe I’ll sneak out after lunch and finish from home.
  • Did anyone ever hear anything from @christycalifornia?  I haven't seen @amylu914 on here much lately either. I really hope everything is okay with you both!

  • Hi, I'm suffering from a cold right now and I have no idea what to use to self-medicate.. pleaae help?
  • The last 2 posts made me literally LOL.
  • Dying over here too, what is going on???
  • @knottief7ce83cf313588c8 yep. I second what @wildtot said. Your doctor should be able to provide you with a list of everything you’re allowed to take for various ailments.

Also, when you’re up to it please change your username. It’s super hard to distinguish between/ get to know the various “knottie” names. :)
  • @hillbillywife Exactly! I use the app exclusively and I see the pinned posts and navigate here just fine. maybe it is different for android but it isnt rocket science...
