@chyvie People keep confusing Emilia vs Amelia and spelling it wrong, but people mess up the most common of names. I have to correct people on mine all the time and I feel like mine should be common enough. So I think it just doesn't matter. It's like a Brian/Bryan/Ryan situation. Nothing uncommon about any of those, you just have to be a little more specific when introducing yourself.
We're 95% sure DS2 is going to be Rhys Ryan. We told DS1 and now he keeps saying that little brother's name is Rhys, so hopefully we don't change our minds in the next few weeks!
We are having the toughest time finding a name we can agree on. We are liking River, but my first son’s name starts with an R so I’m struggling with whether or not it’s too matchy. Boy names were hard last time, but definitely harder this time.
We are screwed We have it narrowed down to three girl names so we can pick the one that feels right. BUT if this baby is a boy he won't have a name. Can't decide on anything! I don't like his suggestions and he hates mine
@arome2311 I don't think it's too matchy. Sibling sets are a big thing. Our kids are different sexes and still will both start will L. (DS is 2 and DH knew from the beginning he wanted them to be a sibling set.)
Her name is Savannah. We agree on Savannah Rose, my dad just passed away though so I am considering suggesting Savannah Ricki after my dad. I am not sure he'll go for it though, he seems pretty sold on Savannah Rose.
@jomama1618- In your opinion (and anyone else who wants to chime in) are Rilo and River too similar. We keep going back to River, but I can't commit. Names are hard!
I think we’ve settled on names! But I have a question - is it super weird if we give surviving baby and the other baby the same middle name as a kind of rememberance?
@jennybean80 I love that idea! I think it would be a really great way to remember that baby and I’m sure the surviving baby will find it special as well as he/she grows up.
We still don't have a name. I dont even really like any of our options.
This is a desperate plea for help.
DS and DD are Luka and Scarlett. Names that keep being brought up Reece and Nico.
Our last name is really Finnish so a lot of names are "too much". It is also very long and has 3 N's in it so I wont use names that end in "n" because they're mostly too rhymey.
I will happily take any opinions or suggestions if anyone cares!
Opinions on Luka Brian? I have a strong opinion on not naming a child after a celebrity, and wondered if Luka Brian was too close to a country western singer. Brian is DH's middle name also. DH keeps mentioning Logan Trent, so I'm still ruling that one around in my mind too.
@coffee-saur Luka isnt my style but its still a nice name and being that Brian is the middle name I don't think people would really consider it after a celebrity. Unless you commonly go by both first and middle names I think its fine(:
@coffee-saur - DS is Luka so I'm partial to that name I would have preferred Luca but DH is Finnish and the K was kind of how we met in the middle (and used the name I wanted).
I do think of the singer when you put it together though, but in life how many people go around calling you by your first and middle name together?
@aromeo11 I just seen this! Sorry about that! And no, I think they are perfect together! That's a great sibling set. Matching syllables and flow but distinct enough for siblings. I also adore the name River. Names are super hard.
@coffee-saur Luke Brian is the first thing I thought of before I even finished reading the rest of your post. But who knows if he’ll be as popular as baby gets older so it may just be a non-issue, plus would you call him by his first and middle name or just his first? If just his first, then I wouldn’t think it would be a big deal.
@coffee-saur I also thought of Luke Brian when I read your post, but yeah, who knows if anyone will remember that guy years into the future.
My cousin's name is Richard Dean (my aunt really liked Richard Dean Anderson from MacGyver, haha) and while he was super popular back then, I doubt anyone even noticed the name connection as he grew up, and surely not now.
@lest12 we're trying to decide if we like Luca or Luka. I think DH is leaning toward Luca, but not sure. A lot of DH's family like to shorten names, regardless of how short it is. Lexi gets shortened to Lex lots which really doesn't bother me, but I foresee Luca being shortened to Luke... So I don't know what we'll do. I do hope we figure it out before baby's born!
@jennybean80 I have friends that lost their first baby at 12 weeks and found out sex & named her. Their next baby was (is) also a girl and they used her older sister’s first name as a middle name. Most people think it was a nice way to honor and remember the baby that didn’t survive.
@coffee-saur our oldest son is Jackson Brown. No E, but otherwise the same as the singer (not named for by any means, just that we liked that name and decided we were okay with it). some people comment, but not as many as i expected. he did come home from his first day of 7th grade the other day grinning because a teacher called out "world-renowned singer-songwriter..." and he raised his hand (not that he listens to a lot of jackson browne, but more proud i think to catch the teacher's reference).

I guess my short list wasn’t so short... I was between Caius and Maxwell. But the other names kept bubbling up.
Point of trivia- Jacob was supposed to be my name, but then I popped out as a little girl and my parents had to scramble for a name.
But I have a question - is it super weird if we give surviving baby and the other baby the same middle name as a kind of rememberance?
I dont think they r too similar at all. I don't mind sibling sets with same letter. My twin brothers are named Jared & James. I think it's cute

@nasalot188 thank you! We are team blue but I have to say, we are on the same name page, Cora and Stella were on my short list when we had DD.
I like Matteo but DH does not, and I really like Micah! Maybe I will suggest that one. Thank you
