Well I was convinced I would be having another boy and my boy name list was quite narrowed down but...we are having another girl which is still exciting but now the daunting task of name selection. With DD1 I knew what I wanted and DH let me pick the name. With DS we flipped and flopped and finally sometime midway through the third trimester we settled on his name! So now this time for DD2 I know the middle name will be Elizabeth but I’ve started over completely with first names because I just don’t know and I can’t decide how to make the sibling set sound normal. So moving on to my list...my first two kiddos are Alexis Marie and Derek Andrew. Here’s my name list at current:
Madyson (nn: Mady)
Hattie
Victoria
Samantha
Valerie
Melanie
Evelyn (nn: Evie - prn E-V)
Valerie has sentimental value for me and my family...it was the play name my sister and I gave to our nana (actual name Rita) when she came to visit and we’d play “house”. She passed away when I was 13 after years of battling NHL and Leukemia...oddly enough Valerie means strength...so it almost makes me emotional so not sure if it’s the right fit.
@jemmerjams A friend of mine has a little boy Cooper, she lives in central cal. He will be 4 in August though. I don’t think it’s a very popular name but maybe could become popular.
Lots of people don't have middle names. Really how often do you use your middle name? Only suggestion is if your last name is common and the first name is too then a middle name would be good to distinguish from other people. Especially if that person does a bad crime or is on the no fly list!
This. DH has a very common name (his mother is Taiwanese and wanted her children to have very "all-American" names...she succeeded. They had an interesting experience once after they moved to the US (when he was in high school) where a bunch of squad cars came flying into their yard. He was at school but his dad was home. Turns out there was another person in that area with the same exact name (first, middle, last) and birthdate who was in some sort of serious trouble.
I was super sold on the name Cole, but just last weekend I realized that my brother has a nephew named Cole on his wife's side already and one of my best friends has a nephew named Cole, now I'm torn on if that's too many Coles!! I will likely never meet either of the other Coles, but it still weirds me out a little...
Our list has changed and changed again! Now my husband wants a name that starts with C like both of our names. He likes Colton or Colter but my best friend who is pregnant 3 weeks ahead of us her husband's name is Cole and I feel like that is kind of weird/ too close. I'm trying to sell him on Colby, Corbyn or Cayden.

We are set for a girl name, but we both think this baby is a second boy so we're trying to narrow down a boy option. River has been on our list for a while, and recently we've added Rhys. We would like to use Wallace as a middle name, although not set in stone.
@chyvie I love both Corbyn and Cayden. I really wanted those on our list but DH didn’t like either. I still have them on my back pocket list but I like the other 3 we have come up with as well.
My mom really really really wants to name baby. Oddly, if it is a boy, she might just have done so. I’m not quite sure how I feel about this, but I still (theoretically) have 15+ weeks to consider it.
@nasalot188 my DS2 is Rhys Werner. Not a ton of them around, but we have run into some pronunciation issues (Rice, Reyes, etc). He often tells people he’s Rhys like Reese’s Pieces.

Thanks for the input ladies! Yes, the pronunciation issue I think is making us a bit apprehensive but we do love it.
Fun Fact: Reese/Reece is actually a made up American spelling of the name. Rhys is the traditional Welsh spelling. It's a very common name in England, Scotland, Ireland! When Reese Witherspoon made it big, the way she spelled it caused a bit of an uproar in the UK!
we are having our 4th boy and I thought it would be so hard to decide a name: we have Royce Jeffrey, Nolan Richard (which was the hardest name to agree upon) and Jax Benji (Jax was originally Jaxon before we went to the hospital- upon doing the birth certificate we decided we are only ever going to call him Jax so lets just name him Jax! ) so then we found out #4 is a boy so I assumed it would be awhile before we came to a decision- that same day after work my husband says how about Quincy? I totally agreed! So baby boy #4 will be Quincy middle names we always do once we see baby but we have a few choices.
my mom thinks it is a silly name- we never told her or anyone our other kids names just because it was our little secret but I just told her not thinking and then i remembered why we don' tell her -she is sooooo opinionated on names and now everytime she sees me she says Now, is it really Quincy? you are just joking right? that is such a silly name! I have done a lot of growing up so I just let it slide off my back and ignore her comments! she'll love him as soon as she meets him and it won't matter the name.
I love Quincy. Where I went to school (a huge mining town) there is the Quincy Mine so I've had a soft spot for the name. I know a few who have named their dogs that after going to school there.
He won't stop changing her middle names! He is so obsessed with her initials matching her brother's (which I think they will grow up hating) that he has now disregarded the beautiful meaningful second middle name and wants "Envy" in its place. I hate it. I can't get over the meaning and its meaningless to us. I'm so mad we're having this conversation.
I typically try to refrain from giving my opinion on names, but I would also skip “Envy.” There are a gajillion names out there that start with an ‘E’; no reason to go with one that is so loaded. If he likes it for the sound/ flow, maybe “Evie”?
I feel like Envy is a weird middle name...the meaning is not something I'd want to associate with my child. I also agree that there's no need to match initials. Fun initials are cool (I always found it cool that in older cars they all had my initials over the air bag "SRS"), but matching to my brother? Eh. nope.
@sammierose464 On that note, my initials before I got married we're LBS. Pounds. Thank god I didn't have weight issues growing up or I'm sure kids in school would have had fun with that one!
@nasalot188 Rhys is on our list too and I think it's slowly creeping up to #1. I was really pushing for Cole, but we had out 20 week ultrasound yesterday and I felt like he looked more like a Rhys. I love the spelling of it, but had the same concerns of pronunciation and of everyone wanting to spell it Reese!
Names have still been alluding us... We just talked about Evan or Ethan the other night. DS is Ean and I wondered if it was too close to the same? We spelled Ean with an 'E' because a lot of people around here thought Ian was pronounced 'Eye-n' now I worry now that he'll wish we'd just stuck with the 'I'... Ean is the Gaelic, less traditional, spelling and Ian is Scottish.
Evan was on our list and Ethan is E's name! I liked that the boys both had E names (Ethan and Enzo) and I tried SO hard to get another name that goes with them, so I'm not against close names... but I'd probably go with Evan if you already have an Ean.
Ds1 is Jayce Kyle Thomas ds2 is Blane Edward Lewis Ds3 is Wyatte James and ds 4 is Elijah Sean Philip. We didnt get to name number 3 so he is the only one without 2 middle names. We had a girls name picked out since before the plus sign.. but naturally its a boy. So we decided on Henry Joseph Francis. All 3 are family names. But we had a long list before deciding on Henry. Dh has wanted to use Henry for the last few kids... i figure i will let him win this one lol!
Bellamy, Benedict, Reid, and everett were all in the top t list!
I get alot of crap about giving my kids two middles names but I have 2 and I love it. Plus my oldest is 12 and he likes that he has 2 as well.
Thanks everyone! He apparently read my message wrong (we were texting about it while he was working 3rds) and thought I said I loved the name. I was like negative ghost rider! I'm all for different fun names, and fun initials (hence my son's second middle name being Echo) but I would have hated having full matching initials with my brother. They will already share first, 1 middle name initial, and last initials.(both L first names for a sib set.) I didn't see the need for all 4 initials to match. We are back to the still slightly hippie but super meaningful middle names!

we just found out the gender last night so haven't have a lot of time.
Edited for spelling
Now to figure out a girl name... at least I've got four months to think about this one, because I have no freaking clue whatsoever.

Is anyone else having name issues?
We literally do not have one name that we really like between the two of us. Zero options on the table. I'm a little stressed about it.
