I just woke up from a hilarious/sad dream. Remember the evil boss that I told you all about? Even my subconscious thinks she is Satan apparently. I dreamed I was at a party last night, and the house suddenly started filling with water. Only myself and one other friend made it to the roof, and along comes this evil bitch in a boat. She tells me that she won't kill us if I sign a contract that gives us my rights to something (can't remember what).
While ridiculous, I don't think it is outside of her moral capacity to do .
@kmalls, YAY!!! You give me hope that one day that will happen with my DS. He's 2 years and 3 months and has yet to pee on the potty despite many attempts that only ended up with him peeing on the floor instead of the potty.
@irenejean oh gosh, DS had absolutely zero interest in the potty at that age! He’s 2 years 10 months now. I think starting preschool in November has a lot to do with it. There’s only 3 kids in his class that are fully potty trained, but they line up everyone and have a “potty break” anyway. Maybe he’s getting inspiration from that? Idk, I just know I’m really happy I didn’t push it on him earlier!
@bchalm ugh I know how you feel with this situation. It sucks when you try your hardest and family just wants to complain. We drive 6 hours every Christmas to go see DH's parents. His dad refuses to come here for Christmas, so we go there (they also think that because we spend Thanksgiving with my family who live in our area, that they get Christmas no matter what). Anyway, he called a couple weeks ago to tell his dad that we'd be there Friday through Sunday and his dad was annoyed and said "I wish I had known. I took off work Monday through Friday." Why does he think DH would be able to take a whole week off of work?! And keep in mind that his mom has known when we were coming since before Thanksgiving. I've already put my foot down and said we're not traveling next year with a baby. I already get stressed out on trips, so I can't imagine adding an 8 month old to that equation.
@kmalls Yeah, we aren't in training mode at this point, DS will want to sit on the the potty, just not pee in it. Sometimes we hear that if we commit to it, we can train him, but honestly, I don't care to push training on him. I initially thought it'd be nice to not have two in diapers, but it wouldn't really be so bad. I'm glad to hear your DS asked to use the potty! I wasn't sure if we'd know when our DS would be ready, but it sounds like they let you know when they are.
So I apologize in advance if this this excessively AWish/boring, but the more I think about my 20 week ultrasound, the more I think it’s a boy. When the tech had me look away to determine the sex, it was a matter of seconds before she told me I could look again. This makes it seem obvious that it’s a boy; if you don’t see a penis, you at least have to do a due diligence check for one before declaring it a girl, right? That’s what I seem to remember from past ultrasounds anyway.
We are finding out Christmas Day, so I will know for sure soon enough. That is, assuming we got a competent ultrasound tech.

@lindsye I *so* don't want to rain on your parade and you could very well be right. But at our a/s it was clear as day that baby was a girl within seconds of checking. They're not just looking to see whether or not there's a penis; if there's a clear view you can distinctly see labia if it's a girl. I could tell before the tech even announced it.
@kaymaroo that’s interesting! I seemed to remember the tech spending longer to make the determination with my daughters than with my son, but I could easily be misremembering. I honestly would be happy either way - I just want to know, damn it!

Sorry to be a Debbie downer today, but I am so bummed about this tax overhaul bill passing. It's so obscenely destructive, and will impact my childrens' futures in a horrible way. I can't even today.
i'm so behind this year. Whats a good thing to do for teachers gifts?
DD has 3 regular teachers in her pre-k program through her daycare center and 1 high school afternoon helper.
There are also 3 women in the front office I feel like we should do a little something for.
Is a $25 gift card for each teacher, candle and like TJ seasonal choc/treat too little for her main teachers and like a $15 gift card for the highschool helper. I was going to do a general basket for the front office with a few $10 gift cards.
I just don't know if i'm not doing enough of if there are better ideas!
@lindsye I had the same thought from mine! We are team green til the end so the tech has us look away when they got to that area. DH asked if she could tell what the sex was and she was like OH YEAH. It made me think it’s probably a boy because I figured a penis would be a lot more obvious considering the way she said it - but who knows, maybe the view itself was clear as day and it could just be very obviously a girl! Omg the anticipation. Can’t wait for your update after Xmas!
@ngolimento SAME. I naively assumed at the beginning there was no way this would pass (the same way I assumed there was no way we’d elect 45) and here we are. And you hit the nail on the head... this prob won’t have devastating effects for me/DH at least in the short term, but our kids generation will be exponentially f*cked over the long term. It’s just sad and I’m tired of feeling like the only thing we can do is just watch it happen.
@ekendall09 I have no kids so my opinion is based on no experience but I think that’s incredibly generous and your DDs teachers will be very grateful!
@lindsye@frenchiekinplusone We are team green as well, and I also asked if she could tell. Her response was the same "Oh Yeah!" The funny thing is I assumed it was a girl. We will find out, soon enough!
@bchalm Our tech said "wow, no modesty here, they're spread eagle!" sooooo to me that doesn't say either way, but she did spend quite a bit of time taking pics she needed after she said that.
Damn @ekendall09 I want to teach at your school! I got a little box of chocolates and a candy cane this year So, to answer your question - yes, I think that's wonderfully generous! Well done!

@ladythrice holy hell...i can't even find words after reading that article.
@kmalls so awesome about ds and the potty! Dd2 will be 3 on 3/6 and i am so hoping we can be potty trained by then. My dream would is to only have 1 in diapers this time around.
@ladythrice I start on mine as early as possible, but I think we are going to owe again so I don't submit them until closer to April haha. Although I may submit earlier this year since there has been so much tax fraud lately.
@sparklingdiamond be like Santa and check it twice, but try not to stress too much! I'm sure he'll answer questions you didn't even know you had! We're all thinking of you!!
Oh hey, just checking in to confirm that, yes, “running in” to Target for diapers with two kids in tow, four days before Christmas, is a bad idea. Just to clear up any confusion.
You guys.. I had to share this because it's such a mess. So I just received these three embroidered stockings I was going to give to my DH for Christmas. I ordered them November 29th through Etsy, and they should have arrived awhile ago but whatever.. it's a busy time of year so I wasn't too worried. I was so excited when they came today, but if you look at the "Dad" stocking.. there is a big mistake. I sent a note to the store, but when I look up the store it says "the member does not exist". I'm pretty sure I got screwed on that one.. We will see if they even respond. It looks like you can open a case with Etsy if you don't hear back, but it may not be worth the time. Oh well.. there were fairly cheap at least.
@dan0081 wtf? That's so frustrating. I've been screwed over on Etsy before too. It was also for something inexpensive and I was able to find another seller with a product I liked better anyway. But still, don't take my money then ghost.
