@tosh24 thats great! Congrats! @marfi236 I am so sorry about your grandma. So many hugs. I hope AF holds out!
AFM- started MD lupron last night- that shit stings worse than menopur. I start menopur and Gonal tonight and my next u/s is on Saturday. Also, reading about everyone with injections makes me super giggle. I give shots for a living and I remember doing them at first and being such an idiot, but for this IVF stuff my nurse had me come in for a class, and after seeing I could mix them all together I stopped her and told her my job and she was like 'oh, ok, then we are done here', lol.
I do wonder why everyones doctors dont say to mix them all? In the PM I get to mix my gonal (or follistim last cycle) with the menopur and the ganirelix (or MD lupron), so it was all only 1 shot....so much easier than 2 or 3 separate shots.
@marfi236 Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear about your grandma!! Maybe check in with you dr's office and let them know what's going on. Maybe they would be ok push the appointment to Monday if AF shows. ((hugs))
@kiwi2628 Thanks for the tip about mixing them all!! That's great to know! I'm guessing they don't tell us to because everything is either pre-filled or like with Follistim has it's own pen. Do you usually dial up say the Follistim pen and add to the already mixed menopur? Just curious in case I get the nerve to try it!

@kristimh80 I would talk to your doctor before mixing them all together, but my doctor has me mix them all. I take 1/2 ml of the sterile water and add it to one menopur bottle, and then take my gonal pen and mix that into my other menopur bottle and then pull one menopur bottle into the other and pull it all up in 1 syringe.
@marfi236 If I have to freeze, they told me I can transfer next cycle which will end up being a last week of January/first week of February transfer. I'm so sorry about you Grandma. I hope it works out that you are able to see her this weekend.
@Roeni I'm so sorry about your cycle being pushed back. It's such an emotional rollercoaster. I was supposed to start my IVF cycle in November and it got pushed back to December which I was really bummed about. Turns out, it was way better logistically and emotionally for me to complete the cycle in December, so I hope there's a silver lining in your case too
@northbeach3 My AFC this cycle was 16. I don't know if that is accurate, though. At my last clinic, the baseline u/s was always at least 20 min long and they spent a lot of time counting follicles. My AFC was always between 26-40. At this new clinic, the u/s tech spends like 30 sec doing the baseline u/s and has always gotten significantly less counts. So, who knows. The AFC for my right ovary this cycle was 6 and I ended up retrieving about 10 eggs from that side. So far I am chugging Gatorade and I premade a bunch of salty dinners for the week on Monday and stocked up on protein and salty snacks.
@J1006 FX that the bump in meds gives your ovaries a boost! What were your last counts?
@kiwi2628 Ugh, sorry the MD Lupron is so uncomfortable GL with starting stims tonight - I hope this is a great protocol for you!
AFM, spoke to the embryologist this morning. Out of the 22 eggs, 17-18 were mature (she couldn't tell me for sure because we split fertilization between ICSI and conventional fertilization and they don't check maturity when doing conventional fertilization). Of the 17-18 mature, 16 fertilized!!! I will get another update tomorrow. I was told two different things about my transfer - doctor yesterday said freeze all, but then when the nurse updated me she told me to start progesterone today and we'd do a transfer on Sunday. So not sure what I'm supposed to be doing. When I talked to the embryologist this morning she said sometimes the doctors say freeze all because on paper it looks like an OHSS risk, but that if they assess me in the days following and I am OK, they'll still go ahead with the transfer. So, just waiting for a call back to see what I'm supposed to do. I started my prometrium just in case.

@tosh24 Congrats on the fertilization count! That's awesome. I'm finding out that the one thing that's making this process bearable is savoring the little victories along the way. I was so relieved and happy just when our baseline ultrasound looked all clear, and we got the go ahead to start stims. I bet you are so happy and relieved for the good count. Yay!!
@kiwi2628 I have my first followup on Saturday as well. FX for a good report for both of us.
Has anyone gotten headaches from the Menopur, or any of the meds? I have taken Menopur and follistim so far, but right after taking the menopur both yesterday and today, I got a huge headache
Also, anyone else doing acupuncture during this? I've done a few 4-5 sessions so far. I hope it helps with my lining. If the lining is looking thin during followup ultrasounds, what do they do about it?

@marfi236 I am so sorry about your grandma and the added stress of AF timing! I really hope you’re able to go this weekend.
AFM We had a 2nd opinion appointment—after two failed IVF cycles we felt this was warranted—and it looks like we’re switching clinics. I’m very impressed with this new doc and I’ll get more personalized monitoring. If we rush, we might still be able to do IVF this month, but we’ll see. DH and I need to talk tonight because I expect AF around MLK Day.
@marfi236 I hope you’re able to spend time with your grandma this weekend. what’s your AF status today? Think you’ll make it through the weekend?
@tosh24 oh man, your brain must be doing loops at the slim possibility of doing a fresh transfer! Glad you had so many that fertilized... fx for a high proportion making it to day 5. Also, thanks for sharing your AFC. that gives me hope for some increase in the preliminary numbers. Now to hope they are mature!
@kiwi2628 and @efavell02 yalls next U/s is before me... I don’t go in again until Monday! I’ll have to live vicariously through your follicle monitoring.
AFM, experienced moderate bloating last night after the first Gonal F shot and it maintained through the morning. Doing okay at the moment but that seemed like just a taste of what’s to come... oh boy!
@Bababatty So glad you got a 2nd opinion and found a new doctor that you like!! FX you can fit it all in this month!!

@tosh24 congrats! fx th enumerate stay great! @Bababatty glad you’re feeling good about a clinic switch. That would be awesome if the timing works out for this month! @efavell02 I only got a headache after day 1, but I’m thinking it was more stress induced. I’m taking the Menopur at night. Maybe that helps? Hope they go away for you, though
AFM - first monitoring appointment today and I have no idea what to think. Other than a med update (stay on same dose of Menpour and gonal-f, add cetrotide) they gave no feedback. By the time I got off work and got the message, clinic was closed. I hate not having details! Is it good, bad, normal, alien, what? Sigh. Next appointment is Saturday. Maybe they’ll be more forthcoming then.
@tosh24. That’s fantastic news! My baseline estrogen was 33 and it’s was only up to 44 after 4 days of stims. My follicles were small some only 1mm. They didn’t give me a total count but I tried to keep track as she measured probably about 10-12 total. I go in tomorrow morning. Hopefully this bump in meds is doing what it’s supposed to.
@northbeach3 It's seeming likely that it'll hold off until Saturday at the very least and that's the most I ask because we will be back on Sunday so I'll be able to make a Monday CD3 appointment!

@halfanewt what day of stims are you on? We’re you able to catch anything when they were doing the ultrasound? That’s usually the only time I have to hear the measurements and can ask follow ups. Hi, I could use some help with needles. I'm not sure which needles go to which med, and I think I am missing some things.
Here are my meds (injectibles) -Follistim, Gonal, but those just use the little tiny cap things for the pens, not any real needles, yeah? -cetrotide/ganirelix, but I think those are prefilled syringes -Menopur -Leuprolide 2 week kit -Progesterone -HCG I think that's it?
for needles, I have all the little caps for gonal and follistim, -Q caps, which say reconstitution, so I think those are for menopur mixing, but I have no idea how to use them. -30 3 cc 18g 1.5 in needle/syringe -8 3 cc 22 g 1.5 in needle (was prescribed 30) -30 3 cc 22 g 1.5 needle with no syringe, just caps -14 28 g 0.5 in needle/syringe (was not prescribed, I don't think... what do I use these for?) -0 3cc 25g 5/8 in needle/syringe (was prescribed, but didn't receive)
So which meds do the needles belong to, and what do I need to order?

@Kristokekerooni Not sure I’m going to be any help, but IIRC For the q-caps you still use some of the syringes. There are great videos on Freedom’s website. For the first few days we went through them step by step as we mixed and injected meds. And also I believe you mix large, inject small—in terms of needle size.
@KristoKekerooni I don't know all of them but I'll help with what I can!
Follistim just gets those little caps/needles that screw on to the pens. Don't know about gonal f.
Ganerelix is a prefilled syringe.
The Q caps are for menopur. You have to take the needle cap off the syringe, then put on the q cap. Attach it to the liquid and draw it up. Then put the q cap/syringe on the powder tablet/menopur bottle and push the liquid in. Draw it all back up in to the syringe, take off the Q cap and put the needle cap back on. There's lots of good videos out there for this too.
I got the "3 cc 18g 1.5 in needle/syringe" for my novarel trigger shot.
My guess for the 3cc 25g 5/8 in needle/syringe that you were prescribed but didn't recieve, was that they gave you the 28g 0.5 in needle/syringe instead, because it's very similar and probably what they had in stock. That's what I was given for my Menopur.
Maybe the others are for Lupron? I'm not taking that, so I don't know. Sorry, I wish I could be more help! Have you done your med training/nurse consult yet? They should tell you what everything is for at that and how to use it.

So I'm a travel patient, so we don't really have a training session. I'm not worried about the actual injecting part, my H is a nurse. But I wasn't sure if it mattered what meds go with what needles. I can ask them I guess. I just go tsuch weird combos.

So it's been a really busy weekend/week for me both at home and work and I am super behind on posts so I'm just going to throw out a Happy New Year to all, hugs to anyone who needs one, and a Yay it's January the time is here to everyone!
As I mentioned, I had a pretty busy New Years weekend. I spent 2 of the 3 days getting our house in order for the upcoming craziness. I sometimes get a bit carried away when I start to clean, so not only did I clean every inch of every surface, I also went through closets and took a bunch of stuff to good will and got allt he closets in the house organized (except for DH's, I'm leaving that for him to do). So my house is clean....just will need to do light touch ups over the next couple of weeks (vacuum once or twice, take the duster to things, easy stuff)
Baseline on the 28th was good, everything was right where it should be. I had my first monitoring US and labs yesterday..again everything was right where it should be. I go back in on Saturday.
Now I'm just working on getting everything at work ready to go since I don't know what days I will be in next week...............and I'm just realizing now as I type this that I am probably within a week of my egg retrieval. EEEEEK!!!!!!
@hoffmanr7 You are my spirit animal!! That's my plan for tomorrow since I'll be off work. Deep clean and take all holiday decor away! Life feels less stressfull when things are in order. Nothing else, it's the one thing we can control during all of this

@hoffmanr7 I did the same thing! The week before my ER I cleaned all the things, did all the laundry, and made sure the cupboards were stocked. The day before the procedure I prepped/froze meals for the week. It sounds like we may be Type A buddies

@KristoKekerooni. Here’s was I can help with. I’m on mostly the same meds.
Lupron has a syringe with needle attached. Mine have an orange needle cap - 1/2 mL with 28 gage.
The Gonal F pen has what looks like a white cap you screw on to the end. If you are using a pen they should have been in the box with the pen.
The q caps are for Menopur however you can draw it up using the needle too. I’ve been using the q caps, but my husband did it last night with just the needle. With my Menopur I got a 3 mL syringe without a needle and a 27 gage needle to inject with.
My HCG shot (novarel) comes with two needles. One to draw it up, one to inject. For some reason our I got two syringes. I received a 3mL syringe with a 22G needle to draw up and then a 25G needle to inject.
AFM, my body is responding to the bump in meds. I have 10 follicles measuring between 6-9mm. My estrogen levels have improved. Hopefully only 4 more days on stims. RE thinks I’m on track for ER on Wednesday.
@KristoKekerooni I just looked at the needles from my FET progesterone and the 30 18g you have are likely for drawing up the progesterone, then you’ll twist the needle off and inject with the 22g needles. This makes sense since you have 30 of each.

How are all you ladies doing who are stimming? Feeling OK? For the few of you that started Jan 2nd, will you guys be going for your first monitoring appointments tomorrow?
@efavelle02 How are you feeling today? I hope your headaches have gone away!
AFM, I got my day 3 update from the lab and I still have 15 embryos that the embryologist said are dividing nicely! Next update is Monday after freeze. She said to expect about 50% of the day 3 embryos to make it to freeze. I send my embabies "grow" vibes throughout the day and am really hoping for a strong bunch of frozen blasts.

@tosh24 That's awesome! I'm so glad your embryos are doing so well!!
I noticed yesterday that my pooch is definitely sticking out more than usual. I even asked DH to make sure I wasn't going crazy. And I definitely am starting to have that "full" feeling......but my pants are still fitting. I have a feeling by then end of the weekend I will be switching to yoga and maternity pants. Otherwise, I'm mostly just plain tired. I barely was able to stay awake past 8pm yesterday.
@tosh24 meh. Just waiting for my monitoring tomorrow and I frankly am terrified. I am so scared that they will see a low number again, or worse, a lower number. The stims themselves are fine- no side effects
@tosh24 Head aches went away, which is nice. Just starting to get the full/sore feeling. Just kinda feeling tired too. I'm so glad to hear about your embryo report! That's awesome.
@kiwi2628 I'm super nervous for tomorrow too, but I know you are feeling it on a different level because of your previous cycle. Just know we're here for you, whatever the report is tomorrow.

@hoffmanr7 I feel the same way. Definitely bloated. My pants still fit but I’m definitely rocking leggings this weekend and dresses for work next week. My work pants hit right where most of my injection sites are which was uncomfortable. My stomach is really bruised. I’ve always bruised easily anyway so I guess this is no different. I don’t really have any side effects. I’ve been getting headaches but I’m prone to headaches so I can’t really blame it on the meds.
@efavell02 Good to hear! Yeah, I wasn't expecting to feel so sore so soon and my nurse made me feel like I was abnormal because she said that other patients didn't normally feel that way. I dunno. Hopefully that means your ovaries are working hard. GL at your appointment tomorrow!
@kiwi2628 Totally understandable given your experience last cycle. I would be nervous too. I hope you are able to sleep well tonight and that you are pleasantly surprised tomorrow morning with a great report.
ETA: I didn't see a couple of updates before I responded...
@hoffmanr7@J1006 After the first 4 nights stimming I lived in yoga pants and leggings. Nothing else fit. I pretty much ran from the elevator to my office and kept my door closed so that no one would see that I was wearing yoga pants and running shoes lol! Luckily, I've been on vacation since Christmas so only DH had to see me at my absolute worst

I tried to change my knottie name hopefully it works... if not I will keep trying. Wow so many ER coming up! It’s really exciting seeing everyone go through these different stages. I start stimming tomorrow, everything is getting pretty real! All of my injection will be in my tummy. My last 2 rounds of IVF (at a different office) were in my thighs tummy & butt. I’m kinda nervous about the limited area, my tummy is big enough, lol, but it’s a lot of shots!
GL to the ladies with Saturday monitoring. I’m kinda jealous bc I’ve got to wait until Monday. Hope y’all aren’t experiencing too many side effects. Looking forward to your updates.
afm, doing okay on day 4 of stims. Mild bloating at bedtime. Fatigue mid day. Pants still fit, even lost 1/2 pound since Tuesday! Hope my brain gives me a mental break this weekend.
lefty has 11: all under ten, most under 7 righty has 8: 4 less than 7, 3 under 10 and one at 11
Thats a follicle count of 19! I've never had one close to that much!! Now my right is plumping faster, so a bunch of those may never catch up, but I'm doing better than last time (for now) and this is amazing!
My appt went well today. I have 5 on the right and three on the left, all between 8 and 14 in size. We go in again Monday. Our doctor was on call so she did our US today. She thinks we are probably looking at ER on Wednesday.
I have officially switched over to yoga pants. I felt ok standing up when I put my jeans on but halfway on the ride to Madison I had to unbutton AND unzip because it was just too damn tight sitting down. Definitely have that full feeling
I had 15 on the left side measuring between 7-11 and 5 on the right between 7-11. They started with the right and the person wasnt explaining what she saw like they normally do, and all I could see was one follicle. I said “there’s only 1?!” She looked surprised and I felt embarrassed haha. She said no that’s just the biggest one. Nervous for how sensitive that left side is going to get, but I’m happy about the good numbers.
@hoffmanr7 awesome that your doc did the scan! Glad it went well! I feel you on the pants. I’ve stuck it out in normal pants so far, but the sitting is getting tough...
AFM - I asked for more explanation today, and the tech seemed shocked that they hadn’t told me last time. Maybe the other tech was just new? Lefty is apparently the powerhouse, 15 sized 10-17. Righty has 8, size 10-17. Waiting on blood work for next steps. I’m assuming that range is okay, and some of the smaller ones will still have time to catch up? I hope?
Congrats to everyone that's swimming right now. It sounds like you all are getting great results!!!
AFM: AF showed overnight, so starting BC tomorrow for 7-8 days, then will have my 1st baseline u/s. Have a feeling this is going to be the longest week ever! lol

Doing okay at the moment but that seemed like just a taste of what’s to come... oh boy!

I think that's it?

-Q caps, which say reconstitution, so I think those are for menopur mixing, but I have no idea how to use them.

@hoffmanr7 I did the same thing! The week before my ER I cleaned all the things, did all the laundry, and made sure the cupboards were stocked. The day before the procedure I prepped/froze meals for the week. It sounds like we may be Type A buddies
AFM, got an update from the lab this morning that of the 16 that fertilized, 15 are still developing. I will get an update tomorrow (day 3) and then I won't get another update until Day 6 (Monday) when the blasts are done freezing. That's going to be a loooong 3 days!!!!

@kiwi2628 @efavell02 GL tomorrow!
@tosh24 that’s great news!!
@hoffmanr7 @J1006 After the first 4 nights stimming I lived in yoga pants and leggings. Nothing else fit. I pretty much ran from the elevator to my office and kept my door closed so that no one would see that I was wearing yoga pants and running shoes lol! Luckily, I've been on vacation since Christmas so only DH had to see me at my absolute worst

Wow so many ER coming up! It’s really exciting seeing everyone go through these different stages. I start stimming tomorrow, everything is getting pretty real! All of my injection will be in my tummy. My last 2 rounds of IVF (at a different office) were in my thighs tummy & butt. I’m kinda nervous about the limited area, my tummy is big enough, lol, but it’s a lot of shots!
afm, doing okay on day 4 of stims. Mild bloating at bedtime. Fatigue mid day. Pants still fit, even lost 1/2 pound since Tuesday! Hope my brain gives me a mental break this weekend.

lefty has 11: all under ten, most under 7
righty has 8: 4 less than 7, 3 under 10 and one at 11
Thats a follicle count of 19! I've never had one close to that much!! Now my right is plumping faster, so a bunch of those may never catch up, but I'm doing better than last time (for now) and this is amazing!

I have officially switched over to yoga pants. I felt ok standing up when I put my jeans on but halfway on the ride to Madison I had to unbutton AND unzip because it was just too damn tight sitting down. Definitely have that full feeling

@efavell02 yay good numbers!
I hope?
