Thank you! I love them both but its not the same as when we came up with DDs name. Evalee Mae (pronounced Ava-lee)  had family history cuz gma Lee's  name was Leota Mae and i also loved Ava, so we just combined them and it was perfect.  Idk how we're gonna figure it out this time astound!

My grandma's name was Letha but she went solely by Lee. I want to work Lee into this babes name if it's a girl. Or even if it's a boy, maybe MN Lee. Love your daughters name!
  • It took is forever to decide on dd name Liliana but we call her Lily. We are waiting until we find out the sex so its less to think about haha

  • I'm really loving the name Adele but I'm worried that everyone will associate her name with the singer. What do you ladies think??
  • @foxbaby2016 I associate the name Adele with the singer but it's a nice name, if you love it I don't think it's a huge deal that it reminds people of the singer. Plus, she might no longer be popular in a couple years.

Thank you! I love the name so much...I just wish it wasn't linked to someone so HUGE right now. The name we picked out for our DS happens to be the last name of a famous person so I get comments all the time asking if we are fans. It gets really old....
  • Beautiful names and story, @noideawhatshesdoing!
  • DD1’s name starts with an L so we’re trying to explore other L names. DH and sibs are all Gs and me and my siblings are all Js. I came across the name Layton- I was thinking it could work for boy or girl? What do you all think as a boy name?
  • We have a boy name picked out. And picking out my first daughter’s name was suuuper easy. But we are having a difficult time finding girl names we like this time around. My husband wants the middle name to be Ann as it is a family name in his family (mine as well actually), but I just don’t like most names with it. I tend for the more traditional names. So far the only two we REALLY agree on are Kennedy Ann and Camila Ann. But I’m just not sure. Anyone got any other ideas?
  • @LadyJ2949 I can't remember---   do you announce names before birth?   We are having a difficult time figuring out an either/or name with Sutton.   I want to in order to have a hat made, but we are strong in a girls name and strong on a boys name.   I don't want to get two hats though!

Eta: LadyJ and I were active on the bump bmb with our first and have met IRL.
Ahhh I hate that the mobile app doesn’t send me notifications! I’m just seeing this now lol I don’t announce names in advance because I don’t want to hear people’s opinions on them and have it get in my head. That’s great that you know what the name will be either way! Is this for a knots hat? DH and I are completely at a loss.

I know a boy and a girl Layton, so I think it works! The girl I know actually spells it Leighton, but they are pronounced the same.
  • We just found out we are having a girl, so now we have to decide between Madelyn and Madeline.  I like the spelling of Madeline better, but I like the pronunciation of Madelyn (Mad-a-lynn vs. Mad-a-line).  Middle name will be Elizabeth either way.  What thoughts do you ladies have?

  • I had that problem with that name too @stlmegs. I love the name but couldn’t decide on spelling/pronunciation so I went with a different name lol. I liken the pronunciation madalyn better too! Congrats on your little girl!

It is not out of the question for that to happen. lol.  We have both loved this name forever but now that I know I am having a girl I wouldn't be surprised if we changed it.   :D

    Thank you!

My best friends daughter is Layton spelled Leighton and my middle sons name is Lathan. I think Layton spelled the way you have it could be a boys name too. Obviously I LOVE both. Lol.
  • @blair_krank @4deep I love that spelling too! My last name is 12 letters long so we try to think of shorter spelling to save some sanity for the child  we found out today we’re having a girl so it being for a boy is off the table!

Would Madeleine work? I know some might pronounce it "mad-a-Len" but I think you could still say it as "Lynn"

GET OUT @stlmegs!!! Madalyn is on our short list. This is getting creepy. Good creepy!
  • @stlmegs either name is so pretty! Not that that helps your dilemma  I’ve always loved both too. I do think Elizabeth sounds better with Madelyn
  • My SO wants the baby’s middle name to be Adassa. Ah-da-sah. I don’t really like it but it has meaning to him. It’s his mothers and grandmothers middle name. He doesn’t like any of my space theme names so now the list is looking more like...Sadie, Sophie, Anaïs and Leilani.
  • We really like the name Oliver for a boy but our daughter is Olivia. I feel like our children will just hate us if we do that. Thoughts?
  • @chicxulub Bargain with him lol. Let him have Adassa as a middle if you can have your space first name.  I also LOVE space so I'm a little biased. I love Nova but DH gets to pick first names since I picked middle names

@castlec3 Those might be a little too similar but if you love them go for it!  I love the name Oliver
  • @castlec3 Eh, you'll definitely get some questions and possibly eyerolls for Oliver and Olivia but in's not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things.

We are thinking Sienna, Brielle or Mila. Hubby likes Sienna the most, I think my favorite is Brielle.
    BabyFruit Ticker
  • @runsomewhere I love Brielle! But I'm personally not a big fan of the nickname "Bri". Same with Madeline and "Maddie" or Adeline and "Addie".  :s the struggle.

    @castlec3 I wouldn't do it.

Does anyone have thoughts on the name Remington for a boy? My husband thinks everyone will immediately associate it with guns, but I didn't even know this was a gun brand until he said that.

  • @ckmb_knottie I wouldn’t have associated it with guns either. My first thought was a beard trimmer lol. I think it’s a cute name, especially if you went with Remi as a nickname.

  • The only names we can come up with for a girl so far are Tessa and Sloane.  I prefer Sloane but worry it's not "girly" enough.  But then again I like boy names for girls so... ::shrug::  Any opinions on Sloane?  Our boy name is Blake.

You could always just use the name but refuse to let anyone nickname your child. I have a name that is commonly nicknamed but my mom just REFUSED to let anyone call me by a nickname. I still go by my full first name.
  • @Sarafuss I like Sloane! I know someone who used Sloane a few years ago and at the time I thought it was suuper hipster/trendy, but it's grown on me. And it's not overly common - the only other time I can think of it being used is in Ferris Buellers Day Off  :)
  • @Sarafuss my daughter is Sloan. I was slightly nervous at first but it fits so well
  • @ckmb_knottie a friend of mine named her son Remington nn Remi. It's a name haha but not one I know to associate with guns or razors...it sounds like a last name to me so nms.

    @castlec3, I wouldn't go there. :-) they're the same name.

    Isabella & Julian & and now #3!
  • @ckmb_knottie That’s my dog’s name! We liked it cuz we’re gun people lol. I think it’s a cool name!!
  • We found out we are having a boy and so we are settled on River for a first name but can’t think of any middle names. Any ideas?
  • With the first one, we fought so much and he only liked one boy name. So I let him have his boy name if I could name a girl whatever I wanted. He agreed. We had a girl. I named her Sara Elizabeth.
Second time around he remembered his boy name. We had a girl that took all nine months to name. She's Hannah Abigail (5 years later, I'm still not sold on the double A sounds -nah Ab-).

So this time there is still no changing that boy name: Jacob Ryan, and I'm sure she'll be nameless if it's a girl. DH is really sold on Lydia Grace or Becca Grace. They're ok names, but it doesn't sound like a child that would be mine.

For me it would depend on what your last name is (or what baby’s last name will be). There are tons of name combos I love but they don’t work with my one syllable last name.

BUT I like River! and I think it could go with lots of things. Lee, Thomas, Reid (I like alliteration with this one!). We usually use a family name for the middle name.
  • I picked out a girls name: Braelyn Leigh (with dear boyfriend's last name). I left the boy name to my boyfriend since the baby is due on his birthday. He mentioned something about wanting a jr.

  • @ckmb_knottie that's one of the reasons I like the name Sloane!  I love that movie and as a kid I always thought that character was so pretty and cool.  Definitely a positive association for me lol.  But I've never actually met someone named Sloane so I think that's why I'm hesitant on it.  That my family/friends might think it's weird.  But we do try to choose names that are different/somewhat uncommon but not too weird.  We have a Roman, Paige and Lucas (he is the exception, his name is super popular lol) and our angel baby was Macy.
