I've been getting by with the old hair tie trick for my blump, but I like to plan! Have you started wearing any maternity? STM's- What are your favorite brands/types?
I'm super cheap and couldn't stand wasting money on maternity clothes. I hardly bought anything. A few tops amd some stretch pants. Old navy was my go too. There's always a coupon! This time I'm going to buy from local BST groups (I've lost 42lbs since last pregnancy) and I was pregnant in the winter/summer vs summer/winter. So I really didn't need clothes til summer. Now I need them in winter.
I've busted out the maternity clothes already. So much more comfortable. My favorite jeans are by Jessica Simpson. I got them at Macy's but they're sold at motherhood/destination maternity too.
I busted them out at about 6 weeks and don't for one day regret this!!! Right now there are Sooooo many garage sales going on, that's where I got most of mine! I'm really cheap and don't mind hand me downs from other mommas!! Most are super happy to pass them on!! Also if you go to walmart.com (not in store) they surprisingly have a rather large selection!!
I'm already wearing my Mat pants. I only bought jeans and shorts with DS and will do the same with this one. I buy cute tanks, shirts, and maxi dresses/skirts- maybe a size up if needed. I usually go to Target, Motherhood, and Zulily for clothes.
Cheap here too. I usually find a good selection at Clothes Mentor (not sure if everyone has it) it's a second hand women's clothing store. My Walmart has a small maternity section with amazing $10 leggings THAT I LIVE IN. Old Navy has a great selection sometimes, especially when you catch their internet markdowns and Kohls as well. No shame here, I started wearing maternity at like 6 weeks. I freaking love maternity pants and shorts. I can't stand stuff squeezing my stomach when I'm pregnant.
Last time, my go-tos were Old Navy, Target (agree on the Liz lang tanks!), and zulily. I recommend buying as much nursing-friendly maternity stuff as you can, because you will wear it after for a while. Latched Mama has some good nursing stuff I bought after DD was born.
Married May 2014 DD born August 2016 Baby #2 due December 2017
I found motherhood maternity stuff sort of junky. I got a lot more wear from Target, Old Navy, and Gap. I can wear jeans to work so I splurged and bought two pairs of joes from pea in the pod as well
Momma to Amelia Marie (7/14) and Austin Samuel (11/17). Adding baby (girl) #3 on 7/21
Does anyone have recommendations for work slacks? I tried looking today as I have a professional career and have to dress business like for work but I'm not willing to spend the money that pea in the pod wanted and target didn't carry any business slacks.
@nz113 I got some motherhood maternity work clothes for my last pregnancy. They were comfy and looked nice. I don't have to dress up often though, only for the occasional client meeting.
@nz113 I would try Gap or Old Navy (online) for work pants - I have a few from Gap and loved them! They used to carry some maternity clothes at the Baby Gap by us but no more
i just bought a big lot of maternity clothes from a Facebook BST - like 5 shirts, a swimsuit and a dress for $20 total - I would suggest stalking any group you are a part of!
@nz113 I too have to wear business casual at work. I bought some slacks from walmart.com. mostly focused on the grey or black ones!! That were straight or wide leg
I haven't begun wearing maternity clothes yet, although I'm in my "big pants." Last summer, I was 3 months postpartum and needed nonmaternity shorts in a size bigger than I normally wear. THAT is what I'm wearing right now. For inexpensive, suuuuuper cute maternity clothes, I am a huge fan of ASOS.com.
So glad I'm not the only one reaching for stretchy pants! Even though I'm only *almost* 9 weeks, the thought of wearing my regular jeans (and ugh! buttoning them?!) makes me want to cry! I'm a SAHM and it's been nice and warm here so I've been living in workout shorts and oversized t-shirts. I'm dreading the day when I have to go in to public on a cool/rainy day with my old jeans on. I'll definitely be heading to Walmart online to stock up!
I'm a FTM so I have zero experience with maternity clothes. However I have already purchased 2 pairs of shorts and 1 pair of jeans from Pink Blush and I love them (so far). Fairly priced. And right now everything is 20% off and free shipping for the month of May, use the code pinkblushmoms
I second the advice to buy tops and dresses that double as nursing tops. I nursed for 9 months so I actually used the nursing outfits more than most my other maternity wear.
I can still button my jeans, but it's uncomfortable to sit like that most of the day, so I'm using a belly band from Target. I also bought a cheap pair of jeans from Goodwill and cut the waistband off and replaced with 3inch elastic all the way around. I have a hard time finding maternity bottoms that don't sag at my butt and thighs, so I just make my own!
I did see some good basic tops online at H&M for reasonable prices. I'm a super bargain shopper, so will check out walmart online as suggested by so many others!
Loft.com! I've bought a couple pairs of dress pants and shorts, and they always have some sort of a sale going on. I can still fit in my old clothes, barely, but have been living in these maternity shorts lately because they are so dang comfortable!
I caved and bought side panel maternity jean shorts at target!! I have full panel shorts from Target too, but I won't have a belly by the end of summer. Reasoning: They're cheaper and they're comfy! I never put away my nursing bras because they were way too comfy to go back to underwire bras, so I'm in those, plus some of my non-side scrunched Liz Lange tanks.
I second @lestex, asos.com has such a super cute maternity section, but I do find that most of their sizing is difficult. I ended up returning most of the things in my initial order to exchange for correct sizing and then after that, had no issues.
Last time around I bought maternity work pants off eBay for like $8 a pair, that included shipping. I wore them probably 2 years after she was born, so comfy, I might still have them? I don't remember the brand but they were durable, and CHEAP!
I'm so glad someone started this thread. I'm just starting to think about maternity clothes. Luckily, I still can wear one pair of jeans (they have a lot of stretch so they don't bother me), but otherwise I've been wearing a lot of maxi skirts, dresses and leggings. I feel like a lot of my tops are starting to look weird, so I might need to pick up some tops to get me through summer. Anything flowy works, but a lot of my tops from pre-pregnancy are a bit more fitted. That makes it really hard to hide the bloat!!

I found stuff at Old Navy, Kohls, and Motherhood last time. Maternity pants/shorts are just the best thing ever. I'd wear them all the time if it were socially acceptable. My only pet peeve with maternity tops is is huge scooping deep V-necks. I do not need to show massive cleavage! I know they aren't *all* like that, but it sure feels like I see a lot of it. Not flattering on me. H&M Mama has some cute stuff and so does Motherhood. I haven't bought anything yet except a pair of shorts and a pair of board shorts from ThredUp (check there too, limited selection but some good deals).
Does anyone have recommendations for work slacks? I tried looking today as I have a professional career and have to dress business like for work but I'm not willing to spend the money that pea in the pod wanted and target didn't carry any business slacks.
I had really good luck with black dress pants and black capris from Kohls! I just waited til I had a 30% off coupon to buy them.
I love target dresses, however with the Liz Lange brand they run huge. I normally wear like a L in other target clothes and in that brand I wore a small.
I also am off on seasons. I was pregnant last summer and this baby will be through the fall/winter. My cousin is going to sell me a couple pairs of her dress pants and I bought a few tops at a garage sale last week. I'm hoping to find a few more sweaters/tops at garage sales.
On facebook there are a couple maternity resale groups. Just search maternity resale and two or so should come up. It's a good place to find clothes for pretty reasonable. You just need to have a paypal account to pay for it.
For those ladies that have purchased from zulily.com-- how is the quality?? I can't believe some of their prices, so it makes me wonder..
Secondly, what is everyone's feelings on those floral print dresses? There's a big part of me that likes them- but then the other half of me is like.. "will I look like I'm wearing a tapestry?" Or wtf was I thinking 10 years from now? Lol
@bkrahn good to hear about the jeans, I was looking at them too.
@grochril I've never bought maternity clothes from zulily, but have bought kids shoes and clothes and they were just fine. I love the florals for spring/summer, but don't think I'd wear them very often, likely just special occasions
@tmk0325 I'm sad to hear about the Target sizing being so off. I normally wear a small and doubt they make xxs to follow the general 2 sizes smaller trend I'm seeing. Target is one of my favorites too
@grochril - Personally, I really like the dress. I think it's really pretty.
I just wanted to thank you all. I fell down a rabbit hole this morning on maternity clothes and put probably $1000 worth of stuff into my "shopping bag." I'm obviously not going to buy it all, but it was fun to virtually shop!

tmk0325 Sweaters and tights/leggings will give summer dresses lots of life! I bought a few clearance rack maternity dresses at Target and wore them when i was pregnant with DS (March baby) and wore them through the winter.
I am 5'11 and had a hell of a time finding work-appropriate slacks with DS. I ended up with a pair from Burlington Coat Factory of all places. I did NOT like Motherhood Maternity. I thought their stuff was kind of cheap and over priced. And their longs weren't long enough lol.
edited for spelling
I just realized I am wearing a pair of MM pants right now and these are the exact pants that made me think their clothes are too cheaply made for the price. Also, the maternity clothes never exactly made it out of my closet after DS. Whoops.
@jlemons-2 - right? And when I go back and look at my cart and I had not one, not two, but 9 different "versions" of a solid black tanks top. I'm pretty sure I don't need 9. I'm also pretty sure I don't need the exact same tank in 9 different colors.

This is super helpful so thank you all for sharing! I've been avoiding doing any shopping because I felt like it was too soon, but I'm so bloated that I'm starting to look more pregnant than I am and most of my regular clothes look and feel terrible. Sounds like it might be time to put my credit card to work
@Piccola1988 I feel ya on the bloat.. although I'm almost 12 weeks and this is my second pregnancy so it definitely could be turning into an actual bump at this point! I totally hauled out my maternity jeans today after reading through this thread and forgot how cute they make me feel!! So excited to be pregnant during summer this time around and to wear all the cute clothes
I just tried Walmart dot com for plus size maternity clothes - and the price is definitely right, but they are sold out of everything that caught my eye. I plan to live in non-maternity dresses and skirts. LuLaRoe is my best friend right now.
@lijuan09 Last pregnancy I bought two pairs of plus size dark wash maternity skinny jeans and they were 1. NOT skinny and 2. at least two sizes too big, even though I ordered my pre-pregnancy size. I don't even remember what I did with them. They were only $10 a piece, but be wary!
Any pressure from the waistband of my pants seems to make my nausea worse, so I have busted out the maternity pants! I have a few pairs from Kohls and Motherhood. Happy with all of them. A friend told me that the Buy Buy Baby in town has used maternity clothes at a good price, so I will plan on checking that out as things progress.
