Not sure if I heard this here or not, but worth sharing. The Highlights magazine has a baby version called Highlights Hello. Its for roughly 6mo-2yrs. The pages are plastic so they can be pulled, chewed on, crumpled etc and they have short little stories and activities (point to the RED shoes)...we just got our first monthly one and DS has loved it.
We're going out of town this weekend for the first time since P was about 1mo. It's an 11hr car ride and we're staying in a hotel. Added to the fact that I can't eat out most places due to Ps soy/dairy allergy, meaning I'm taking all my food for the weekend, and the fact that P has been sleeping badly again the last week, I am very much dreading it.....

Our offer on a house was just accepted!!!! That means I need to get my house ready to sell this week. And we will be downsizing our house by 800 sq ft but gaining a huge yard! I
Is anyone else finding that as their babe(s) get older, you require more than a normal sized diaper bag? Mine is overflowing and that's before snacks and what not. I use his diaper bag as my bag too to cut down on how many bags I lug around. My husband thinks I'm nuts for wanting a big Mary poppins bag but I hate having to unpack the entire bag just to get something from the bottom.
@DachshundMomma YESSSSS. I feel like all I ever do is think about better ways to re-org the diaper bags. Yes, I have 2 now so I have a backup when one gets so messy from people digging in it who don't know the method to my organizing madness and just throw stuff back in. Plus, now that we need solid snacks and such I feel like I need to add a lunchbox with an ice pack...how do I fit that in there?!
I had a very full diaper bag with DD1 but now that I have 2 I feel like I'm usually not gone for more than 3 hours so I don't need as much. I have wipes, 3 diapers, extra outfit for both girls, brush, bandaids, snacks, my phone and wallet.
I used to bring the large diaper bag everywhere when C was little, now for small trips no longer than a few hours I carry around an insulated lunch box in my purse for snacks and I can fit a few diapers, wipes, a toy, and a back up onesie/outfit. Now that is officially warm, I no longer have to carry all of the bulky stuff (coat, mittens, hat, blanket) and back up bulky stuff.
I use a very big purse (large tote size) as a diaper bag.
I have a pull out diaper holder (think very big wallet). It has 4-6 diapers, wipes, and diaper cream along with a portable change pad and the diaper garbage bags. Then in the middle of the purse goes that, a change of clothes, a nursing cover, some snacks (baggies of cherrios, carton of puffs, ect...), a table toy, one burp blanket, a pack of hand sanitizing wipes, and his cup. In the pockets go a couple of teethers, small sunscreen, small hand sanitizer, my ID and charge card, and a lipgloss/chapstick.
Backpack for P, super simple canvas tote for my stuff...I find it way easier to carry a backpack+purse+baby then juggling a lot of bulky one-shoulder bags that attack me when I bend over and let stuff fall out. Backpacks can be stuffed silly too! Ours is a cute monster backpack that P could use himself later if he wants to.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. Our diaper bag is small and ideal for short trips but I can't fit much in it beyond absolute necessities (aka, no toys or food for either of us). I just hate having to unpack and repack every time I need something from not directly on top. I'm going to scope out targets selection of totes and backpacks today when I go.
I carry around a multi-kid ridiculous sized diaper bag most of the time, but I also have a smaller one I've been trying to use more. The big one has too many toys and gets too cluttered, but I'm so attached to all the pockets...
I too have a big diaper bag. But I've always carried monstrous purses too. I just love a big bag. It also has all my purse stuff in it.
DIY Mother's Day gifts from my girls. My oldest decorated the bags and I threw M'S handprint on for good measure. Hahaha These bags are 3 for $10 at Joanns.
You guys are so creative. I better start brainstorming. My moms birthday is May 27! Between that and Mother's Day I owe her at least one personalized gift haha!
If any of you enjoy 90's pop/R&B like I do, look these people up. I'm obsessed with their shirts!! Lol
@LDSJM123 Right?! Hahaha I'm ordering L the tip your cup up and living in a toddler paradise. I'm debating between coffee and wine shirt or the vanilla ice one for me!
I want all the shirts! The coffee and wine and vanilla ice are so happening and I will be checking back for the wish I was little bit taller and Park it like it's hot for DS
What kind of paint are you guys using for these projects? Anything specific/baby safe....or anything goes? I have a free saturday this week...and it will be chilly...this seems like a great idea
I used enamel/acrylic paint (made the plate top-shelf dishwasher safe). I just watched him carefully and wiped his hands as soon as I got the print. Paint is nontoxic, but not food safe.
I've already got Father's Day gifts planned out they just need to be done. Ask me about Mother's Day in 11 days though? Gah. I don't know what to do for my mom and MIL.
Mother's day gift idea...I went on ETSY and searched "handwriting jewelry"...there are all kinds of sellers who will take a handwritten message from you and turn it into a piece of jewelry. I wrote out "Love You" with a heart of each side and they are making it into a bracelet for my mom so she will have a piece of my handwriting on her wrist. It was only $30-$35. Not bad. Turn around time is faster than expected as well.
Re: May Randoms
Ain't nobody got time for any of this.
Bump, get your crap together.
