I'm having some horrible hip pain at night, like a calf cramp in my hip that wakes me up and freaks me out, any way I can avoid this or tips for preventing it?

No tips, just commiseration... I'm so over being uncomfortable and not sleeping

@MTB16: For possibly avoiding it, try to position your hips in the most neutral way possible before you fall asleep: lay on the unaffected side with a pillow propped not only between your knees but ankles also. You want your top leg raised and supported and parallel along its length. For the pain, unfortunately, it's an ice pack, tylenol, and not laying on it. Hang in there, hopefully it's temporary.
@PartiallyDomesticated@MTB16 me three on nighttime discomfort, except that it's weird pelvic pain that ONLY happens when I'm in bed--I swear my literal bones ache. I'm going to bring it up at my OB appointment tomorrow but I suspect the answer will be "maybe try just not sleeping or lying down or being comfortable ever SRRY"
@kiperoo I can't believe it's tomorrow already! Enjoy your day with your mom! And definitely check out the VB line, I think the baby girl stuff is darling. FFMC, I might have bought a couple things even though I'm having a boy.
@livin541@Kipperoo I agree, totally cute items, I was looking yesterday... I almost bought the mushrooms one for my soon-arriving son... but can I bitch about there not being any boy clothes in the first place? They'd be styled the same and be just as darling!
@cato99 I have SPD so the Pelvic pain is constant, but lately I've had what I can only describe as "restless arms" which I'm sure if restless legs can be a thing then so can restless arms. The minute I lay down to sleep my shoulders ache and I just have to move my arms. Plus I want to lay on my stomach and can't, everything is just so uncomfortable, pregnancy would be 10x better if I didn't need sleep

i have lived with freckles my entire life lol I've actually gotten more since I've gotten older! Plus more during the summer! Some of the bigger ones have gotten a little darker since being pregnant, but nothing crazy.

I'll put this here for now until my u/s on Thursday. I've been going twice a week now to the dr for a while and today the dr said on Thursday we will have a much clearer picture of what will happen in the next 2 weeks. It will be csection or induction. I am nervous. The girls sometimes struggle with kick counts and I am super tired. My "mild pre-e" sometimes sparks different dr's into panic mode. Reading all the funnies and birth posts and the nursery thread keep my spirits up! Thanks for being a wonderful group of ladies!!! It's all happening so fast:)
I just need to brag about DH for a second. Someone on here mentioned making cinnamon rolls and ever since I've been craving them. So after work tonight he came home and made me cinnamon rolls. I'm such a happy prego lady right now. Decided to freeze half so I wouldn't eat them all but my gosh I want to!
Hi @starphish18, I was going to answer your question with a "you always need to secure your baby!" but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that when you are out and about & you use the changing pad from your diaper bag, it's not secured to a wall and baby ends up fine. For a while with our newborn, we had a changing station on a tabletop surface and it wasn't permanent (nor anchored). You have to keep one hand on at all times! They roll when you least expect it. For reals.
I'd just ask you to consider finding a way to attach it. Can you use a nail or screw in the wall behind the concrete counter? Or maybe one of those heavier-duty command hooks?, so at least the changing pad safety strap has that extra "won't slip" tautness & protection.
I think better safe than sorry, esp. if it's an easy fix, but in the end, no, it's not the hugest deal to be worried about. Haha, I bet that doesn't really answer your Q, does it.
@Kipperoo My fingers and toes are all crossed that tomorrow goes so smooth we mildly dislike you for it Hope you are able to get a bit of sleep tonight!
@starphish18 Oh yeah totally a pregnancy thing. I have had it a bit this pregnancy, but remember it happening more last pregnancy. There was no pin pointing it to a specific food for me. It was almost like a wave of nausea except it is a wave of diarrhea that happens out of the blue.
@SWE2 - My DH has been pushing hard for a lawn roomba, which is funny since I'm the one that mows the lawn. I don't know anyone that has one, though, and I want to know that they work before shelling out the money. That's awesome that your dad hooked you up! I'll have to look into that brand.
We finished up our lamaze classes tonight. The instructor, who was definitely pro non-medicated birth, swayed dangerously close to anti-vaxxer territory tonight. I was preparing to call her out on it, but then someone else did. I'm glad we did the class and I got a lot of knowledge out of it, but she was wayyy too crunchy for me (bordering on irresponsible).

@SKZW A command hook is a good idea! We could attach the strap to that to keep the changing pad from moving too far forward.
Also, thanks for all the replies in regards to the random upset stomach thing. I'm not happy so many others are going through that, but I'm glad it seems completely normal.
@starphish18 - I was tempted to blame you and your power of suggestion today (although I feel the real culprit was chicken salad) when I was awakened from my nap by AUDIBLE stomach gurgling. THAT was the beginning of an exciting 30 minutes or so.
@0408Bear: I too have mild pre-e, or what I call the "pre" pre-e because I of course consider it the serious issue it is, but I'm not anywhere near critical/urgent/super awful at the moment (though I know it doesn't take much for that to turn). I digress.... I'm nervous too. It's definitely new territory for me, so I've been reading up on inductions and c-s. How far along are you? I'm at 34 wks & doc says it'll be delivery time around 37 or 38. Seems so close! I'm here if you want to vent, stress, commiserate, or escape the craziness of it all. I think if we keep an open mind and flexibility, we'll be better prepared for all those potential twists that might happen.
Good luck Thursday. I have another u/s that day too!
Just now catching up, but wanted to throw in my two cents about the *ahem* back-end issues. @starphish18 Like others, I've been experiencing something similar (not tied to any foods that I can tell but pretty constant) for the past several days. I've worried about it being an early sign of labor, but I'm glad to hear that it can happen weeks in advance!
@Kipperoo Best of luck tomorrow, thinking of you! I hope everything goes as smoothly as possible!
@SWE2 and @NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot H and I saw what appeared to be a robotic lawnmower just yesterday, and we joked that it looked like a Roomba for the yard (not thinking that was really the case). I had no idea it was actually a thing! We sure live in crazy times...
Ah thank you so much for your thoughts!! I am 36 tomorrow and have also been told 37 is the magic week. I'm trying to stay focused on making it to Thursday and then trying to make a flexible plan that works for everyone. The biggest glitch in all this is my brothers wedding (local thank god) on the 22nd. Just trying to be low stress and finish up loose ends at work! What a crazy ride this journey is:)
@kns1988 I too mow the lawn and I love doing it! Like actually look forward to doing it. I put my headphones on and sing or listen to books. It took awhile to convince me we need it. But with baby who knows how much time I will have to do it. Plus if I get stuck (our backyard is wet in a couple spots) I won't be able to get out while pregnant.
I am finally having my AS tomorrow! I was totally fine until earlier today and talking to my boss about it. I'm getting really nervous. I'm sure everything will be fine.
@MTB16 oh my gosh yes!! I had exactly the same thing happen once last week and once this weekend. It was while I was repositioning both times. I hadn't even heard of cramping in the hip before. It was brutal! I did use it to try and practice contraction breathing though, lol. Breathe through the pain, right?
@Kipperoo yay for induction day! Keep us updated as much as you like!! Who doesn't love details? @starphish18 I forgot to answer this earlier but I've been having at least soft stools off and on through my whole pregnancy. Just when I think it's time to be on a daily colace regimen, it happens and I get nervous. This weekend though I had a seriously upset stomach and I had done a TON of house and yard work that day and was having lots of BH. I don't know if they were related but it made me very nervous. Luckily everything slowed down. Long story short I think we're all normal.
@starphish18 In lieu of screwing in straps or hardware (I never bothered) what about those grippy mats they sell as kitchen drawer liners? Throw one of those between the pad and the surface? I am a big proponent of a rollup cloth changing pad on the floor though. Living room diaper basket FTW.
I have a ton of work to do and totally hit my productivity wall for this pregnancy. Doubly not good? I am only 34w tomorrow. Ha. Shoot.
@wombthereitis I didn't attach changing pad to dresser. All of the changing necessities (wipes, diapers, creams, etc) were on the dresser with spares in the bottom drawer. LO was never left unattended on the changing pad. Also, a lot of times I'd bring the changing pad to the living room and change on the floor, which would have been difficult if attached. I may be flamed for this!

+1 on this! I didn't know about keeping the ankle in line until recently and its made a huge difference
most of my diaper changes occur on the floor/couch/wherever with old hospital blankets that I acquired because its easy and I don't mind if the freebie blankets get stained. I think I have used the changing pad on my DS's dresser 1 time.
I have no experience with changing pads. Pretty sure when I changed my sister it was on a bed or the floor! We don't even have our changing pad yet for the dresser, but we will probably attached it. Better safe than sorry, right?
Random: haven't felt great the past couple of days. Yesterday was one of those days @starphish18 where I seemed to be running to the bathroom often and just not feeling good. This morning I've just felt blah and then maybe 40ish minutes ago I'm pretty sure I had a BH contraction sitting at my desk at work. I sometimes get them in the mornings and I'm wondering if its because you're more dehydrated in the morning from not having anything to drink for 8-9 hours. Not fun.

@starphish18 we have our changing pad on a dresser that doesn't have a lip so it would slide around. I actually got that rubber non-skid grip stuff you can put in the bottom of cabinets to keep glasses and other things from sliding around. we cut a piece of it and put it under the changing pad and it kept it from sliding. It worked really well with DD.
I have the changing pad rail that is nailed into the dresser in the back and the pad is loose inside of it. Now that I am moving my son to a new room I am unsure what I will do with the changing in the morning situation since hes still in diapers and my husband feels dressers are outdated furniture and wants to just get shelving..... dont get me started on this.
We have the changing pad rail that is attached to the dresser too. Our changing pad fits really snug down in there. It has straps to nail down the changing pad but I'm guessing that's if you don't have the rail. The rail was an optional addition to the dresser and once the changing pad got down in there it's hard to get it back out so it's prettt sturdy. And obviously...nailed down or snug in the rail or not the baby can't be left alone up there.
I have changing mat on the nursery dresser, but not securing it as everything is in arms reach and I plan to never not be touching the baby up there. I have Munchkin mat liners to use in the 3 other diaper stations (loft, our room, downstairs)
We used the grippy stuff @BeachMommy2B linked to for our changing pad. It was nice to be able to move it where it was needed and LO was never left alone while on it.
