  • @ariz17 we're Irish too and wanted to stick with those names for DD. I love Riley and Siobhan! Riley was on our list for DD, but we went with Brigid (the Irish spelling). I had a friend named Siobhan growing up. I always loved it!

I think you have a great list going!!
  • sdarling2010 Thank you I appreciate that! I love Brigid! I'd also love to see you list!
  • @ariz17 we've basically decided on Vivian for a girl (Vivi as a nn). For a boy, he will be Cyrus William IV, but to avoid name confusion at home, the name he would go by is Liam (last 4 letters of the middle name William). We won't find out until May 16 if we have a Vivian or a Liam coming!

We never had a boy list since it was always going to be Cyrus IV (Liam). But here's our girl list - not as Irish this time  ;)

    Vivian

    Cora

    Audra

    Mallory

    Jocelyn

    Isla

    Bronwyn

    Calista

  • I'm pretty tapped out on thinking of names. We don't find out the gender so we like to try to have 2 boy and 2 girl name's picked for delivery. We had 1 boy name for Dd and 2 girl name's. I thought for sure she'll be Lillian Mae. but the moment I heard her cry, I said in my head, that's Adelaide Rose.

Now on #2 and we have a girl name with no middle and 2 possible boy names.

    Lydia --

    Nathan Charles
    Arthur Thomas or Charles

Luckily there's time, but I can't decide until I meet the baby anyway lol
  • I love the name Georgia but DH says no because he's from GA.  But we're watching Creative Galaxy right now and the baby's name is Georgia.  Think of Georgia as a cartoon baby alien, DH, not a state!  :p

  • sdarling2010 Omg we find out May 16th too!

I love all of those names. Bronwyn is very pretty. I really do love Liam and that being the last four letters of William is such a great idea.
  • @mctuckaghans those are both on our girl list too  :)

  • @beezeemarie i see you have good taste too  ;)
  • @PizzaMonster3 thanks for the suggestions! I like Bryson James, I hadn't thought of that yet! And my brother in law name is Lee, and we don't really get along so I can't use Lee for a middle name  :/
  • Speaking of Irish names. I recently realized that my friend's sister's name which I thought was Shayla is actually spelled Shalagh. They're Irish and that spelling made that name soo unique. Love it!

  • So nobody has mentioned Michelle.. it's our top contender if it's a girl and looks like we're the only ones
Yes! Makes me thinknofnthw 70's and 80's. Once everyone has overused all of the old lady names names these decades will surely be making a comeback so I think you're ahead of the game :-) I also love Kate, Kelly and Allison which remind me of a similar era.
  • @sdarling2010 I loooove the name Bronwyn. We used it for my daughter's middle name (Avery Bronwyn). I would have used it for the first name but our last name begins with S and I didn't want her initials to be BS, lol.

    @PizzaMonster3 Michelle is a great name!   B)

    @emgem819 I agree with @carries2018!

  • @TallMomma29 @PizzaMonster3 agreed, Michelle is fantastic!

@emgem819 I really like those together! I don't think they are too similar.
  • Thank you @dumbledoredies, @TallMomma29 and @carries2018 for weighing in! I appreciate it! ♥️

  • DH won't discuss names until we know the gender. But we do know the middle name will be Azerbaijani, Turkish or Persian since my husband is from Azerbaijan. DD is Brook Medina. 11 days until name conversations can commence! I have a good list for him lol.

  • I've been avoiding this thread until DH was willing to chat about names, but now I can finally play. The only two options from my list that he likes are Madeline and Matilda. Neither of us like the Maddie/Maddy/Matty nn options, and Tilly/Tilda sounds ridiculous with our ln. Do you think Lina works as a nn for Madeline or does it seem too forced? We also both like Frances but agree it doesn't work with our ln.

@emgem819 my favorite pairs for you from your older post are: Avery & Peyton (both unisex with an ay sound), Peyton and Jocelyn (both unisex ending in n), Abigail and Elena (both 3 syllable and feminine with cute nns Abby and Ellie or Abby and Leni). I also like Kelsey and Ashley from your latest post.

@mrs_fogue How about these? Sage, Merit, Robin, Orion, Bram, Hollis, Kent, Heath

@clanbuchanan15 I love Kelly on boys! But if you are feeling apprehensive about it, you can always stick it in the middle

@beezeemarie if you love Cecilia/CeCe but worry it's too long, what about Celia? Or Cordelia (not any shorter but an awesome name)? I would totally use Lola as a nn for Eloise and it would be super cute with her friend LuLu.

@roo_baby OMG...the only two names my husband likes from our list are Madelaine and Matilda as well! how funny. the other names I have pitched to him (and he has rejected ) are:

    Maisie
    Millie
    Arabella
    Audrey
    Elsa

Re nn for Matilda, I know a young girl that goes by Tidly which is cute
  • @Ninak that is too funny! Tidly is a cute idea. I like your whole list. I told DH yesterday that I really like Elsa but can't do it cause of Frozen. I have a niece Arabella and I love the name Millie but it sadly doesn't work with our last name. You could use it as a nn for Matilda, though! Two names in one
  • ninak-3ninak-3 member
@roo_baby last names can be hard  our last name is super short and a single sylablle (baby brain wont let me rememember how to spell that word properly!) and short names dont really work with it at all. One of my fav all time names is May but it is just too short with our last name and doesnt sound right. thats why I tried to advocate for Maisie as it could ahve the nn May but yeh, no dice with DH lol

Is your DH as frustrating as mine in that he tells you he doesnt like names but wont offer any ideas haha
  • @Ninak That's exactly what he does! He doesn't understand that having the discussion and hearing his ideas is fun for me. I've found it helps to ask him conceptual questions... "do you like classic names like Elizabeth?" "do you prefer shorter or longer names?" or "i want a name that is familiar internationally since we expect to spend time abroad, how important is that to you?" He still isn't offering suggestions, but he at least has started to give specific reasons why he does/doesn't like something. And sometimes he'll surprise me with ideas like "ok, let's look at the top girl names in Italy" and then he has fun saying them with our last name and laughing at the ones we would never use. He can be really cute even when he's frustrating me.

I think you could use May as a nickname for pretty much any M name, if that helps. That may actually solve my non-Maddy/Matty nickname issue for Madeline or Matilda!
