@MrsCFB Great choices! Personally I think Louis and Wyatt sound the best with a one-syllable last name — or at least with all the hypothetical last names I tried, haha.
Thank you! I appreciate the response. We are leaning toward Louis.
Alexander Louis (pronounced like Lewis) Jack (it's actually a last name on my husband's side) Wyatt
Thoughts? Our last name is one syllable.
Love Alexander but it's pretty common. Love Louis! But I much prefer the spelling Lewis. I like the way it looks much better plus with Louis people will never really be sure and will have to always ask how to pronounce.... Lewis or Lou-we?
Thank you for your feedback! We really like Louis, but I am concerned about the pronounciation issue...we both like the look of Louis more. Ugh! Names are hard, lol!
My DD1 first name is Alaina (after VPD show, Elena), but we did the spelling Alaina after my husband Alan who was named after French actor Alain. Her middle name is Nicole, after the middle name my mom was going to name me in the hospital, but my older sister changed last minute, because she wanted us to be the same. So I gave it to my daugahter since I loved it. Alaina Nicole. We call her Laney Bug (lady bug).
DD2 we can't agree on! I love Karlee, Lacey, Emery (family doesn't like this one), and I'm still on the search!! He likes Kaylee, Hayley, Peyton, Emma, and Jade. I still don't think we have found THE ONE, but I'm pushing for Karlee. Still no middle name.
The only name we have liked for sentimental purpose is EliZaBetH (his mom) EiLeEn (my moms middle name. So it would be EliZaBetH Eileen, backwards the initials are Bee, which goes with our first daughter "Laney bug." I wish we LOVED this, because it fits so perfect, but neither of us do. I just can't get myself to picture having an Elizabeth. Just not me! Doesn't feel right.
Good luck finding that perfect baby name!

@acnd08 i just started watching how to get away with murder and fell in love with Laurel (the character and name) it wasn't even on my radar but that show made me like it haha.
@lemonlyman@yasandson@yenrec -- Thank y'all! Our boy name was definitely the hardest. My husband was stuck on Jacoby (Juh-co-be) for the longest time and I just couldn't get on board lol. Mainly because I knew it would be mispronounced a lot. I said how about Coby and he would only agree to it if it was spelled Kobe. I have a picky picky husband
@yenrec I loveee Max, but we couldn't agree on a longer form. We both loved Miles, but couldn't agree on a middle name, which is why we decided to use it for our middle name haha.
@lemonlyman I really like Easton. I do think it's one of those situations where it's because I know a Colton and I put him with the name everytime. We are from a small town and we know so many people, so it makes choosing names even harder. DH liked Barrett a lot, but then a girl we went to school with announced that she is naming her baby that, so it completely knocked it off the table haha.
@yasandson I really like both of the names you are deciding between too! I see how you are having a hard time choosing.
people struggling - i recommend printing off social security's top 1000 list. 2 copies one for you and one for SO. circle all your favs then cross reference. you might be surprised what you actually agree on!

@carries2018 Hahah oh man. I was joking with my husband the other day and said if we really wanted to be unique, we could spell it "Kohltynne"—we both write for a living and are total grammar nerds, so I think it caused him physical pain to consider that spelling! Also LOVE the tip about comparing lists from the top 1000!
@carries2018 Thank you! I love the character too, but the name hooked me from minute one! My only concern was people mistaking her name for Lauren. DH said if she's anything like me, she'll be fine and have no problem correcting people, so not to worry about it, lol. That isn't enough of a reason not to use it if we have a girl. I love it so much!
@lemonlyman I like Colton out of the two, but have nothing against Easton. I guess I have just heard it a bit more. Both are great names!
@MrsCFB My vote is for Jack! That was on my short list of boy names for YEARS and then my cousin used it. It happens!

Now that we're having a boy, we're doing Kayden James. Our other choice was Carter, but it just doesn't go with our last name. My DD is Alaina after her dad Alan, and now DS will be Kayden after me Kayla.

We really want a baby girl soooo bad! So we already have a name before we even TTC! Chinee Belle for baby girl, made up of my and DH's names. But for baby boy we're still undecided. I want to name him after DH but he absolutely hates the idea! We can't think of a good name so far, we'll probably deal with it when we are positive we are having a boy.
For a girl we love Morgan Sophia and for a boy Connor or Oliver but leaning more on the Oliver side just haven't picked a middle name yet. My oldest is Jonathan Paul, so I like the older more classic names.
Welp, I spoke too soon. DH changed his mind about our girl middle name. We had Elena Claire set in stone, then he decided he thinks Elena needs a two syllable middle name lol. Any suggestions!?
Boy: Conner Christopher (Has to have my husbands 1st name as the middle name. Family tradition) or Andrew Christopher Girl: Raelynn Paige (my grandpa's middle name was Ray, my step dads middle name is Lynn, & my husbands dads middle name is Paige). Or Miranda Paige.
If LO is a boy, we've decided on Ender. Still have no idea on the middle name though.
Girls names are proving more difficult for us. I really like Adaline, but we are also considering Olivia, Ava, and Audrey. Or others like that. I'm also noticing that I'm drawn to names starting with vowels for some reason!

For sure go with Adaline over your other contenders.Olivia, Ava and Audrey are sooooo overdone! Love your boys pick, did you make it up? Strong sounding name!

I agree...I just need to get DH fully on board with Adaline! He said he likes it but doesn't love it.
And thank you! I actually got Ender from my favorite book ever, Ender's Game. Terrible movie, wonderful book I think the name is pretty unique but has such potential.
@acnd08 I knowww, I do too! I'm hoping I can convince him! I love it so much!
@emgem819 Thank you! I've run most of those by him already haha. He is all about a two syllable middle name, but he doesn't like any of the ones I name.
Right now for a boy we like Nash, Axle, and Lukas. We also like Liam but it's so overused so I won't use it. Boy names are really hard for us to agree on. Over the years my DH has hated every name I've brought up lol. These are the only ones we've ever agreed upon! I just don't know if I can bring myself to name my kid something like Nash or Axle since they are pretty abnormal names.
I haven't done much research on girls names because they are easier for us to agree on but right now the front runner is Josie. We also really like Reece.

I love Nash! Axel is great too, apparently a very popular Scandinavian name. Go for it! Neither of these are weird or crazy at all just less common. Better than everyone saying "oh, another Liam"

Yay fellow Ender's Game lovers!
I LOVE Nash. Axle is pretty awesome too. I know several Lucas/Luckas' already, but I like the K in the name. I really like Reece for a girl's name.
@dumbledoredies I personally love Liam and hope to use it for a middle name potentially. I know more Lucas/Lukas' than Liams. We also like Josie but our last name also ends in the "ie" sound which can sound cute but also a little sing-songy lol
So tonight I printed two copies of @carries2018's suggestion of top 1000 ss names of 2015 and DH and I both went through and circled our favs! Here's what the consensus gives us:
girls: Avery Elena Livia Peyton Jocelyn
boys: Austin Logan Carter Colton
We are having twins and know one of them is a girl but don't know the others sex yet. DH would love them to be same lettered if different sexes: so both Avery and Austin or Livia and Logan. Anyone have any favs from our list?
Thanks ladies!

@emgem819 I definitely understand wanting them both to have the same first name initial! I'm dead set on having DD and new LO have the same initials. But it definitely limits our choices! I really like the name Avery, it is sweet but seems strong for a woman's name. I also really like Colton, it sounds like a great little boy's name, and is one sound good for a man as well! Sorry they're not the same initials!
