  • @sdarling2010 Liam makes complete sense and it is a great name!  4 is not good in any language. we agonized over it.  there are great nicknames for III and V but nothing for IV.  we just came to the conclusion that you can call you kid whatever you want!  a nickname with meaning is a great thing :)

  • Well, DH and I haven't talked yet (I told him I don't want to until we know the sex), but I'd be lying if I said I didn't have a note going on my phone with names I like...and I've had this note going for the last year or so ;)

All that being said, me, DH and DD are all J names. Yeah yeah, I know I know. It's a little corny but we've talked about doing this since we were dating. Trust me, I've heard all the dugger references. Keep your comments to yourself lol and at this point it would be a little weird to pick a different letter for this kid (but my weird sense of humor also would find it a little funny). But we won't go there. So my top 3 are:

    Girl
    Joelle
Josephine (or just Josie) - this was our other option for DD but I just don't seem to like it as much now. We will see.
Jocelyn - I love it but DH vetoed it the first time around. I'm still going to push for it if this is a girl.

    Boy
    Jacob
    Jameson
    Jasper
(we have had said Jaden on our list since like 2008 but I don't think I can do it now)
I'm in love with jasper but I like it for a girl. I'm the whole any name can go for any gender. My name is Bailey so I have a non gender specific name lol. But when I told my boyfriend I like jasper aliviah Louise for a girl, I have two middle names and so does his son and my son so I love the idea, he wasn't into it so I was heart broken.
  • Well, DH has not participated in names yet except to shoot down every single one I suggest. I told him if he doesn't start participating by 20 weeks that I get to name the baby by default.

I have some weird requirements when it comes to names. They have to be unique, said like they're spelled, and I don't want to use an initial we've already used (so no B, C, H, J, or P names). They also have to go with DS 1 Beckett Asher and DS 2 Hendrix Xavier.

So, I am in love with the name Merrick for a boy. I also like Grafton, Oakley, Ramsey, and Madden. I have about 10 other names that I like too. I would really like to use Bliss as a middle name as that's my grandfather who just passed and one if my brother's middle names but we were careful in the past to NOT use family names so I'm not sure how that will fly. Would also like Rowan as a middle name.

I am having a helluva time with a girl name. We had Everly Isla picked out since I was pregnant with DS 1 5 years ago but it has gained so much popularity since then and I just don't think I can use it anymore. My top picks now would be to put a twist on Everly and make it Everlise or I do really like Waverly and Oaklyn too. Aisley and Evany are also in the running.

@mrs_fogue I find boys sooooo easy, even with already having 2! Girl names are going to be the death of me though.

@carries2018 I love what you're doing with the girls' middle names! So pretty!

We've had ours picked out for awhile now...

    Girl:  Sloan Rosalie

    Boy:  Hank Charles

Both the middle names are family names :)
That reminds me, I love Rosalie!  Not from twilight but Grimm.  It's so vintage.  Adding that to my girl name list.
  • I like the vowel trend, @asickles98, maybe consider using a Y name, cause that kinda still fits.
And my husband is set on Maximus, which I'm not sure I like. But I think I can get on board. And for middle name, we are going to use DH's dad's name and my mom's name for a girl. And for a girl, I really like Monica and my husband likes Portia.
  •  We have pretty much decided. I've pretty much been thinking about this nonstop ha ha.

Boy - will most likely be Sullivan Edward (nn Sully)  I love so many boys names but this name continually still sits at the top of the list and if this is my last child I feel like I just can't not use this fantastic name :-)

Other contenders - Sawyer, Quinn, Tate, Hunter, Simon

Girl - 99 percent set on Caroline Evelyn

Heavily debating Claire, Hunter, June, Georgia, Cece

  • @Knottie1447173547 LOVE Sullivan and Sully! Also love Hunter. And Caroline! (Maybe my Elena and your Caroline can be bffs and find a Bonnie!)

  • @jessafishy see above and maybe you should talk your DH into Bonnie. Nn....Bob? Lol

  • DH is stuck on Frederick Bernard (both family names) and I am getting warmer to calling him Freddy B or Bernie...however, we have some other contenders, including Cameron or Spencer...

Love the name Cameron! there are a lot of little spencers out there I think already and Cameron seems under used.
  • @callababy17 I love the name Cameron! I think Cam from Modern Family makes me love it that much more. He is just the best!

  • Boy: Todd Joseph. H is totally set on this, i am open to Mark or John but i think i like Todd the best.
Girl: Nora Hope. I love this name, but Nora is a little too popular for me so Victoria/Tori is on the table but i don't love it as i love Nora.

    DD1 - Leah Grace DD2 - Cara Faith
Our DD is Victoria Marie. I didn't like it at first, but it definitely fits her now. We thought we might call her Tori. Yeah, not so much lol. But it's a good name!
  • I really like Rachel Lynn for a girl. No other options for me  (so far) and DH seems to like it too which is nice. Boy names were tricky last time. We had Charles Edward picked out if DD were a boy. I don't love it now. Definitely Edward for MN for my brother who died 6 yrs ago. I like Lucas, Jacob, Ryan and Nicholas. Hopefully DH will agree to one of those if this LO is a boy.
  • DS is Sylas. I really like Saylor for a girls name...but my mom says she'll get made fun her whole life.
Other girls names I'm liking are Charlotte, Scarlett, Violet, Lily, Madeline, Kinsey, Ella, Lila, Alice, and Ember.
I have absolutely nothing that is appealing to me as a boys name right now..so hopefully I'm having a girl. And DH definitely doesn't get to decide alone...he wanted to name DS Twiggy...uhh NO lol

  • We've had our girls name for years and didn't get to use it when DS was born, for obvious reasons. So if this one is a girl she'll be Atessa Josephine (nn Tess).

But no where near decided on a boy. And I've gone off all my favourite back ups from when pregnant with DS. Need to start regular visits to nameberry again.

There are a lot of interesting names out there right now.  Some of them are really old-fashioned. If there are going to be little Olives and Birdies  running around in a couple of years I don't see why Saylor would get made fun of more than the rest .I would go for it if I were you. It had a lovely feminine sound to it actually. In my personal experience, my mother would be the last person that I would ask opinions on names ha ha!

@laeberge3 my daughter's name is Marin :-) so I say yes to it!

If we have a daughter, we will name her Maeve Jane. Jane is DH grandma.
If we have a son, I'm thinking it'll be Maxwell James. They're both family names. But I am really not attached to the name Max at all. Looking for another M name contender for a boy!

     Thanks for sharing, everyone!

    Martin (nn Marty)

    Miles
    Micah
    Miller (personal fave)
    Marcus
    Monroe

  • @yenrec What about Micah for a boy? I love that name but can't get my husband on board, haha. We do already have an Elijah though, so I see his point about getting too Old Testament-y :)
  • Okay, I need some help! What are your honest opinions on the names Easton or Colton for a boy? :) My husband thought of them both, and I like them in theory but not sure if they go with our last name — it's fairly common, three syllables, ends in -son. Sorry if that's a little vague!

    I love Easton!
  • @lemonlyman is your last name made of more than two sillables? Just curious lol
    @keriflores love both choices!
  • @yasandson Yes, it's three syllables! I feel like that extra syllable MIGHT give us the cover to give our baby a first name with a similar ending (-ton -son), haha.

@keriflores Really cute names — Elena Claire is beautiful!

Thats exactly what i was gonna say loool
  • @Knottie1447173547 thanks for those!!! Gives me some names to think about!
@lemonlyman Micah is a good one thanks! By the way, I LOVE the name Colton, but Easton is nice too! :-)
@keriflores I am loving the name Kobe! Very unique and sweet!!

We are considering the following boy names:

    Alexander
    Louis (pronounced like Lewis)
Jack (it's actually a last name on my husband's side)
    Wyatt

Thoughts?  Our last name is one syllable.

  • I'm talking to a friend right now about this (she's due in june) and realizing we have no idea!!!!!!!!

DS is William Adam Richard (he goes by Adam). He's 5th generation William and Richard is my dad's middle name.

Our girl name when we had DS was Lydia Grace. But now I don't know. I kind of want my kids to be A names now. So Anna, April, Amelia, and Adria are all options. Middle name we still love Grace or Mae.

Boy we are leaning towards Nicholas. Except I really don't like the name Nick and I'm sure that's bound to happen. No idea on middle name yet!

If its a boy we are probably going to go with Cole Colin, he would be the 4th in a row with the middle name Colin on my husbands side.  If its a girl we are leaning toward either Morgan or Keegan and no middle name. The agreement we have is if we have a girl then we will follow my family's tradition (girls don't have middle names), if its a boy we will follow DH family tradition (Colin).  Our daughters name is Quinn, we like simple but a little unique and we have a VERY Irish last name.

We did the voicemail test when we picked DD's name... What would a voicemail message sound like using the prospective name for an adult in a corporate/professional setting and would it be someone you would take seriously if you didn't know them?
  • @MrsCFB Great choices! :) Personally I think Louis and Wyatt sound the best with a one-syllable last name — or at least with all the hypothetical last names I tried, haha.
  • For a boy I like Owen or Elliott. DH is not on board with either of those. If it's a girl I like Lillian. DS is Colin & DD is Hailey.

Love Alexander but it's pretty common. Love Louis! But I much prefer the spelling Lewis. I like the way it looks much better plus with Louis people will never really be sure and will have to always ask how to pronounce.... Lewis or Lou-we?
