  • too good^ and cute too, lol.
  • The inflatable duck tub that everyone was talking about (to use after they outgrow their infant tubs) is on sale at zulily today: https://www.zulily.com/p/duck-safety-tub-bath-toy-231761-43205745.html?pos=47&fromEvent=231761

For those with a convertible car seat, what do you use? Or any you've used before and don't like? I guess it is time to start thinking about getting one although I'd like to keep using the infant seat a few more months. I want to keep my eyes out for a good deal
  • @kvruns we're using the Diono radiant rxt, it has a few weird things, and putting it together out of the box is like rocket science, but I've liked it a lot so far. It is huge though (tall, not wide).
  • kvrunskvruns member
I had never heard of Diono until a month or so ago and now I see the name a lot. Sounds like they are good if you need a narrow seat?
  • We use the Grace 4ever with ODD. It's been awesome so far.

  • We have the britax marathon!
We have a small car (mazda 3) so I wanted something that would be convertible but still make sure more then 1 person can sit in the car.
  • Britax over here too
  • Yes @kvruns, I think it's a good choice if you need a narrow seat. But @kristah2 brings up a good point, it doesn't allow anyone to sit in the seat in front of it, at least in my car.

This is what I bought. Found at Costco for 199!

  • I won a diono radiant rxt and we've been using it for a backup in our second car for ODD and our niece who came into town. It's worked nicely, but also seems very tall. We use a Graco convertible 3 in one and have loved it. It's been on airplanes and all over with us. For the baby we have used a Graco rear facing stroller combo car seat.
  • Is anyone using a walker yet?  Best ones?
  • We use a walker, but we never had a jump-a-roo. I always wished we had a jumper with our first and here with the second I never had another shower for this kid so we just never got around to getting a jumper. S sits in the walker for maybe a max of 15-20 minutes. She'd rather sit in her high chair with toys on the tray. And there's no attempt to even walk at all. She doesn't even try to crawl either. Weirdly enough, on the Dr. notes we get after each visit, they say not to have your little one in a walker because they are dangerous. I think mostly due to stairs, and we don't have stairs.

You can't get walkers in Canada anymore! There has been way too many injuries from them (and I think something about babies walking before they're developmentally ready). I, for one, went down over a flight of stairs in one as an infant. But i turned out alright.
ETA: if I could have one here I would.
  • We have a walker that I got as a handmedown. E loves it, but we set it up on a thick carpet so she isn't actually walking in it, just standing and bouncing.
  • @camcbeth The pamphlet I get from the DR says the same. I think it's for that reasons you said also. I don't have stairs either so it won't be an issue here. S is already crawling and pulling up to stand so I think she will really enjoy the walker. We have a bouncer but I think she's pretty bored with that.

I bought 2 sleep sacks from BuyBuyBaby that are Aden by Aden & Anais Muslin kind. It is super lightweight which is good but the zipper is already separating. Lame. If you're looking for summer sleep sacks I'd avoid this version as it has bad reviews on Amazon wish I had seen those first
  • @kvruns Ugh, dang it! But thanks! I was planning to buy one soon.

Anyone have a good recommendation for a lightweight sack?
  • I just use the cotton halo ones. They work great, LO runs hot and we don't always have the air on.
  • My neighbor I just came from hanging with has her 9 month old in a Halo sleep sack. I want one!
  • jsmaijsmai member
I also love the cotton halo sleep sack.  We have two and they are a great light weight sleeper.
  • So many of you use sleep sacs!! I have about 5 or more and tried one when he was a week old and haven't touched them since. Are these a thing? Should I be finding mine?!
  • Re: walkers: my bff bought one in NY and tried to cross the Canadian border with it, they caught her and told her it's a $135,000 fine!! She had to go return it. And then she found one on kijiji hah. Yeah they have a bad reputation here.

Re: sleep sacs: I have the halo cotton ones but they aren't long enough! C is 90th percentile in height so any sleep sac smaller than 12mo forces her to bend her legs quite a bit. I have her in a 12-18 mo of a no name brand but the arm holes and neck hole is huge! But I don't care, as long as she can stretch her legs.

I don't know where you live but I'm in Canada, it was a very cold baby room over the winter. It was the only way to keep her warm without blankets.

Now that it's summer it's less necessary, but I still want her to feel cozy and safe (projecting?)

My humble opinion is that they're overrated. If you've gone this long without using one, why introduce something that's not necessary now? It would be like introducing a pacifier now, to me. You'd just have to work to break a habit that they didn't already have. But, obviously, I don't use one.  :)

I wish that mine didn't use them. I'd love to just put him down in his onesie or PJs but he will not sleep that way. He likes to have his legs contained I guess
  • S doesn't wear sleep sacks anymore. I felt like that would be one more sleep association we'd have to break so we just use sleepers. It doesn't get very cold here in the winter but by then she'll be 1 so maybe she'll be using a blanket.
  • m6aguam6agua member
    @PrettyPalomino kristah2 is a fellow Canadian!

@kristah2 I wouldn't bother. I used them throughout the winter with LO but stopped about 2 months ago and haven't looked back.

  • We use the sleep sack because H turns the AC down super low and I don't want him to get cold. Also, I can tell M is going to be a fearless climber and he won't be able to in the sleep sack. We're keeping it for as long as they make them big enough for him lol

My friends son will be 1 in August and she uses the sleep sack. She hasn't transitioned him to a toddler bed yet and he climbed out of the crib and fell once. Since then she started back with the sleep sacks so he can't escape.

This is something I do not plan on doing. Her and I are BFFs, but we are pretty different in everything, style of dress, parenting, men, and more.

  • I guess I don't see the sleep sacks as confining, LO has free range of motion in them. We've always moved up to the next size if his legs begin to get confined (he's pretty long). He will also sleep in footie pajamas or onesies or just diaper, so for us it hasn't been an issue. I see it as a blanket without the worry. It has helped a little to prevent him getting his legs caught in the slats. For us they were a life saver during winter!
  • We tried letting A sleep in just pjs and she kept waking up, playing with her feet and then getting bored and screaming. The sleep sack means she can't play with her feet all night.

That's exactly the same here. He wants to play with his feet
  • @RhodaMorgenstern and @kvruns that's so funny! (In a not funny since we like babies to sleep kinda way). I definitely see why you use them!
M hated being swaddled too so I guess he's used to sleeping in his crib without anything?

@PrettyPalomino as @m6agua said I am a fellow Canadian! I live in the east. I just kept the heat at around 25 during the winter and he was fine. Now that it's starting to get warmer I think I'm going to invest in a ceiling fan for him. Though I'm a bit worried because he LOVES fans and just stares at them so I'm thinking he might get super distracted and not sleep.
  • kvrunskvruns member
@kristah2 mine also loves watching the fan but for some reason it doesn't impact his sleep. hope it is the same for you

Funny - part of the reason I stopped using sleep sacks was so she would be able to play with her feet when she woke up instead of getting fussy.
  • Just in case this effects any of you!

Britax has issued a recall for chest clips for affected seats made between November 1, 2015 and May 31, 2017.  The center button for the chest clip may break off, causing a potential choking hazard.

    https://csftl.org/recall-britax-b-safe-35b-safe-35-elitebob-b-safe-35/

  • kvrunskvruns member
thanks @kristah2 We have one but I believe it is just B safe not B safe 35 so I don't think I'm affected. Going to double check though.
  • Anyone have any opinions on a booster high chair (the ones that strap to your chair) versus an actual high chair?
My mom is looking at the booster instead but I haven't really heard much about it.
