WOW! Just caught up on the last 4 pages. I'm also loving the pro-vaccine & science discussions.
(FFFC): This is the only year I opted out of getting the flu shot since becoming an RN. I was "nervous" about it being a new formulation. I haven't been keeping up with my state's flu statistics as I normally would've been while working in the ICU. I've been diligent about wearing my mask at work which I think has saved me from catching several nasty viruses/bugs that were going around (some co-workers catching it twice) and that lasted for weeks. So, as I don't condone skipping vaccines, for some reason the one time I did, it prevented some other major illnesses.
AND a side-note, I side-eye people that go to work sick. (Wow-I haven't had an FFFC before and here I am posting 2 in the randoms thread. )
@vrj0522 It's data from our state's department of public health (I should have mentioned that - the data I posted is just for one state!). I'm still not super comfortable giving away that much info about myself on the whole forum but could PM you more details.
That would be awesome but I understand the still wanting to remain as private as possible so it's up to you. I did ask my mom about the tdap yesterday and it was surprisingly easy. She said she should be up to date on it but that she would check and also make sure that my dad was too. She was a little concerned about how often I have gotten it given this is my 3rd child in less than 5 years but I think I appeased her. I am just hoping I can sway her about the flu vaccine at some point but her being so open to the tdap gave me some hope.

@PartiallyDomesticated Umm no your huntsman spider can stay as far away as possible. Hell. Freaking. No.
Haha, huntsman's are harmless, they're fine, they keep away the red backs! I am also On the east coast so have to worry about the Sydney funnel web! There was a 10yr old bitten yesterday, he required 12 vials of anti-venom just to keep him alive! Huntsman are the least of my worries!

This sounds terrifying!
Agreed! I live in an older little cottage and seriously just looked up and scanned all my ceilings for spiders. I'm kind of twitchy and itchy now <lots of scratching>. So thanks for that.
@chickyclg I'm so glad you have a fantastic doctor!
Sleeping has been awful for me too. I'm constantly rolling onto my back which wakes me up and then it takes forever to get back to sleep again. I experimented last night with adding a pillow to my Snoogle and sleeping in a reclined side position but now my neck is killing me.

Once my old BMB got their letters to Hogwarts one of the things we did was post video of everyone reading something so people could hear everyone's accents. It was pretty cool.

Reason #1 why I live where the cold hurts my face. Spider population control.
@chickyclg That doctor sounds great! Also thank you for your response regarding the head shake. I will definitely be asking the pedi about DS' at his next appointment. Your son really does sound like he has a wonderful support system.
Anyone else having major mood swings? I've been really emotional lately anyways...but yesterday, I was on such a mood high. And today I'm just so low again and want to cry for literally no reason. My non-pregnant self is usually an emotionless robot, so this is very new and uncomfortable.

This has been so bad for me this week. Although I certainly don't qualify as emotionless regularly I have been so grumpy and then I'm so happy! A few people have been a little scared at the times I've been less than my normal nice self...and I feel bad about that but I've been taking a lot less crap from people lately so that's a bonus.
@starphish18: You're not alone, trust me. Sometimes I'm a complete blubbery soggy mess. You just gotta let it out and work through it. It's all perfectly normal, and you'll be okay!
@hp_momma , @absbubbs , ahahahaha....I have only lived in Boston for the last 3 years. I'm originally from Utah, went to college in Colorado, lived in NYC for 7 years, and have no discernible accent. ;-)
I thought about this because of the "would you let your kids play with no vaccine kids" but on my last BMB we talked about parents asking other parents if they have guns in the house and how they store them. It was a really interesting topic. Idk if y'all want a whole thread, but it made me think about it. Not debating guns, just will you ask people before you let your kid go over to their house if they own any guns and how they are stored? Where I am from/the lifestyle we live everybody owns a gun. I know it's not like that everywhere. Just a thought.
My husband has far more than I'd prefer in the house but they are all in one of two safes in rooms the kid doesn't play in.
I know! It didn't occur to me either until someone at my last BMB brought it up. Plus DD has only gone to two friends house when I wasn't there and I knew that the guns were in a safe because they were my bffs. It's not like we are at the stage where our kids go places without us right now.
We definitely ask everyone!! It's not incredibly common in our area, but many of our peeps have them, so before we come over, I want to know how they secure them (DS is 21 months old and isn't anywhere without us, but he will be sooner rather than later, and most of our friends have older kiddos who aren't always in our line-of-sight when we're hanging out).
No one has ever been offended or even surprised that I asked, but it is interesting how some folks' version of "secure" is very different from my own.
I hadn't thought about that either, but I guess it would make sense to know that they are locked away if someone does have them. We have 2 that are in a locked gun hard case at the moment under our bed, but when we move we may move them somewhere else and/or get a better safe.

This is a very good point. I know lots of people who think those thin metal locker type boxes with the crappy key are enough. I could open that with a swift kick or a bobby pin!
ETA: this is what I consider secure. Nearly 500 lbs with multiple bolts in the door.
Someone mentioned sleep and hot damn has it gotten difficult! I just can't get comfortable and apparently I keep over eating in the evening so I'm so full feeling if I lay down, but I cant breathe sitting up... Anyways, finally switched back to the Snoogle (its a love/hate relationship) last night and it was the best sleep I've gotten in a bit. It also help me to have my little clip on fan on my nightstand only like, 2 feet from my face. Something about the cool air in the face when I can't breathe/ feel full just helps.

@PartiallyDomesticated - that entire comment about the spiders has convinced me that I never need to visit Australia! I'm shaking in my shoes over here!! LOL
@starphish18 - you're not alone with the mood swings! I just got irrationally mad about dinner plans tonight being cancelled, and I didn't even want to go to start with.
I think the gun question is a good one! We're definitely a gun owning home (hello, Texas), with a giant safe like @WombThereItIs pic. I wouldn't be offended at all if someone asked me about if/how we keep them in our home because of how focused we are on safety. However, I also agree that everyone's definition of safety is different, so it's important ask questions like "what kind of safe do you use".
Honestly, if someone is annoyed by me asking them about this, I don't know that I want my kid over there anyway.

I recently updated my pillow fort configuration and it has been a total game changer. I sleep with snoogle in front of me instead of behind me and then added a wedge pillow (boppy makes one) behind me for my low back. It is amazing. When my hips get sore I can turn over and use the wedge under my belly and snoogle behind me. Plus an extra pillow for defense against my husband snoring in my face or to put over my head and drown out the monitor when I am not ready to get up and my toddler is screeching BAAAABYYYY BELUUUUUUUGAAAAA!!!! at early o'lock.
@WombThereItIs LOL! I actually ordered and returned the Boppy wedge. It was too firm for under my belly. I need the lightest of filling or something under there. I have a bolter-eqsue pillow I use typically under my head, but I like it over my face a lot and its good for under belly. I need to keep playing with it.
Someone stole my string cheese out of the work fridge. I normally hate when someone refers to a pregnant woman has hormonal and unreasonable, but I'll go nuclear on the jerk who stole my GD snack.
@chickyclg I'm glad you are getting some answers for your son, and that it sounds like you have an AWESOME Doctor!! How wonderful that he emphasized all the good! I feel like too often doctors do the opposite, because they assume you already know the positives, even when you may not.
@nda_roxybabe Yes!! DH stole my body pillow last two nights and it's been rough. But then some nights I can't sleep with it. My sleep is a mess. Are you guys actually getting quality sleep? I can only get a couple hours at a time. I tell myself pregnancy is prepping me for motherhood.
@jayandaplus (I just went to tag myself, I feel like that answers your Q) No, I don't sleep well. The other night I was up for over an hour at 3am because I just couldn't get comfy.
Now, I don't sleep through the night, ever. I remember once in my entire life where I actually slept through the night without waking up at all. Typically I wake up multiple times a night to turn over or adjust or because of a dream. I never have trouble falling asleep or going back to sleep, I just wake up often.
Thanks for the tips and the empathy weve got a foam mattress topper, it seemed to help at first but no longer does. Ive also got that crazy pillow but i think its flat from my first pregnancy. Oh well.. Aeast there isnt too much longer. And @chickyclg, im barely surviving, haha. Im doing the bare minimum and feel pretty crummy about that but chasing around dd is getting exhahsting let alone keeping up with anything else.
Wow! So much to catch up on. Gone for one day for SIL wedding and come back with lots to read! Too lazy to tag and put in order but... Pro vaccines here! +1 for crappy sleep. Spiders=big NO!!! Also who the hell just takes someone else's food from a work refrigerator... really people! I'd leave a nice little note taped to my snack next time
Glucose test passed! Bring on all the sweets! OB called personally because he wanted to remind me to eat small meals throughout the day, apparently my numbers were one of the lowest he has seen (56?) and he was surprised I didn't pass out at the lab!

@hp_momma luckily there is a special version for medical that is only 19 days! I don't think husband is going to do it though, we are still debating it.
I'm in such a crappy mood, well I have been all week, but I'm really annoyed today! I just want people to do their jobs and not get all snippy back when I'm trying to help! I had to hold my tongue on an email today, which is good because my boss ended up saying what I wanted to say! So irritating...and we still haven't heard about our loan being good to go even though I'm pretty sure we were supposed to know yesterday...keep reminding myself to just breathe...

19 days isn't bad! But does seem somewhat pointless. DHs is only 9weeks if he stays in his current job.
