Has anyone ever been prescribed anything stronger than Tylenol (like a painkiller, etc) while pregnant? My back is in so much pain, and after 2 sessions of PT, it's not feeling better yet. I'm going to call my OB today to see if they'll prescribe anything. Just wondering what others have taken.
So I've been having a lot of Braxton hicks contractions in the afternoon every day. But I'm a teacher and on my feet so I've just attributed them to that. But this morning they started at like 6am. I called my midwife around 9am and she told me to go home and lay down. She faxed a note over to the school saying I had to leave right away. Ugh. So I'm home now and on the couch seeing what happens. She's gonna call at 11:30 and have me come in if they haven't stopped. Fingers crossed they do!!
@MrsDramaK I know that Linea Negra is more pronounced in darker skinned women. Mine goes from bra all the way completely down. And it's dark. really hoping it doesn't get any darker though.
@imalwaysme79 yes, surprisingly, the only thing stronger that you can take is Tylenol with Codeine. They gave me that after I broke my nose. Definitely can't take any NSAIDS, though.
@Starfish113 Praying that your contractions stop! Rest and water! Good luck and keep us posted, please!
Hope everything's okay, @Starfish113 . Glad you and your midwife are on top of it! @MLRocha my LN appearance was similar. I'm really, really pale, and it's apparently more prominent on darker skin. I started keeping an eye out for it at 23 weeks, but I didn't see it without specifically looking for it until about 26 weeks. It did start out small at first and I thought it was just from the seams on some of my maternity pants.

@Starfish113 I hope they continue to get better! Im back in L&D for monitoring again because my contraction schedule have gotte worse again for over a week now. Just had my appt with OB who sent me over for cervical check. I'm considering switching docs because Im having 6-10 an hour if Im on my feet at all. I hoped she would recommend bedrest but she recommended swimming and a support belt. I almost started crying because this has been physically and emotionally draining.
I'm so sorry to hear that @foxrosy. I definitely hope you can get a second opinion if your doctor doesn't seem to be taking your situation seriously enough. Let us know how it goes.
@foxrosy that is so frustrating and I'm sorry your dealing with this if you're not comfortable with the OB you have and can manage switching than go for it, absolutely. It seems like the most logical solution IS bed rest after all this time. FX all goes well with your cervical check.

And re: linea nigra, I think mine showed up all at once, pretty immediately. I've also noticed that the skin all around my belly button is sort of discolored. I'm wondering if that's just because it's starting to stretch, and some of the skin that used to be in is now out!

Heading to the doctor with heavy pelvic pressure, fluid loss, sharp cramping/back pains and contractions. Hopefully it's nothing but I'm sure I'll feel much better once they've checked me out!
I went to L&D a few weeks ago becuase of bad back pain all day, "wetter" down there and I had my only BH i have ever had. They were super nice, I got in there fast and the check up was extremely reassuring. Still not sure what was going on that day, but I don't regret going at all. So definitely go and get checked out.
What is going on?! STM+ is it normal to have so many people in the BMB have contractions and issues like this?
I'm wishing good luck to all of you!
@LivingLaVidaGinger what do you mean by fluid loss? Good luck, I hope they easily fix whatever it is!
@foxrosy how long have you been with this OB? It does sound odd that she wouldn't put you on bed rest. I say to be on the safe side, get a second opinion.
@MoonOverGoldsboro my boobs are all discolored! And I'm not just talking about the Nipples or areolas. The entire boobs are like a darker shade, almost looks like they are dirty?
@imalwaysme79 you can get real narcotics. I was liberally offered them for my migraines but they make me super ill and I already was crazy sick when they were bad.
I wish we had Facebook's sad face for commiseration purposes. Thinking about all of you, but I feel awkward posting my thoughts when they're identical to 15 pps

Hopefully whatever they give me won't make me sick. I'm just looking for anything to help at this point. Pre-pregnancy, I would have gotten some injections in my back and I'd be happy as can be.
Hey ladies, thanks for all the positive well wishes, so far everything is okay. I'm not in labor! Yay! They said that it could've come on from any number of things and this may sound really yucky but the fluid loss that I thought was amniotic fluid because it was literally dripping and a little too much for comfort, was ruled out as cm prepping my body for labor. Gross.
Glad you are ok @LivingLaVidaGinger. My cervix is fine. The L&D RN and charge RN tried to advocate for me to my doctor that I need bedrest as they witnessed me having a contraction when transferring from bed to wheel chair. Doctor said I could be on bedrest if I want, but refused to write an order for it. RN consigned I should change doctors and gave me the name of one she really likes. I'll be calling on Monday.
Thanks @foxyroxy! I'm sorry your doctor was so insensitive. It's so easy to feel like you aren't being heard by your doctor, I'm so glad the nurses were there to advocate for you. Fx your new doctor makes you feel validated!

I also wanted to chime in on this, my OB referred me to a chiropractor (which didn't help me at all, wouldn't recommend 0/10) so they might give you something better if they believe the benefits of putting you on a stronger drug would outweigh the risks. I get severe migraines with this pregnancy that wouldn't even be touched by tylenol so after complaining incessantly three appointments in a row, they finally prescribed me Fioricet (acetaminophen, butalbital, caffeine, and codeine) and although it does contain acetaminophen, the cocktail of other medicines in it, that you wouldn't think would be prescribed to a pregnant woman, were what truly helped me. Maybe they'll be able give you a mixture with acetaminophen that'll help ease that back pain you've been having.
@LivingLaVidaGinger I've also been concerned about fluid, but I do remember my OB telling me that amniotic fluid smells sweet so anything else is most likely discharge.

But what if you ate a bunch of pineapple? Or is that only for semen?
